Every four weeks, we move the hens to a new patch of pasture, so they can enjoy fresh earth full of insects and vegetation and to support soil health, as part of the farm's regenerative ag practices.

I'm delighted to share that after five and a half months of 'flockdown,' the hens are finally back out in the pasture! They spent the day bingeing on grass, sunshine, and unsuspecting insects and all felt right in their little world again. Thanks to Defra for the excellent birthday gift. 🐔🌞🌱

🌸 Matilda settling into her new casa 🌼

One of my lovely customers wished to add a third hen to their flock of two, Ruffles and Nella, who have become very dear companions to the family.

Matilda has made herself at home rather quickly. She's also coming out the other end of a moult beautifully! (See pic 1 vs 5 and 6.)

A few life hacks from Lila.

1. Greater surface area makes for more warmth in front of a wood stove. Go big.

2. If you fall asleep on the loveseat, be sure to do it face-first into the arm rest. Free face pillow.

3. Keep photos of your loved ones around, especially those capturing fun days out.

4. When family members play nerdy board games, judge them, but do it quietly in the corner, and from the safety of your loveseat.

5. Lap naps > loveseat face-plant naps
