Good morning, I’m Tabitha, a 6 year old girl looking for a new home.

I came to the centre as a stray so the team don’t know much about my past. I’m a friendly, confident girl who likes to greet people with a meow as they approach my pen. I love spending time with people and will make the most of every moment I have with my favourite people. I’m hoping to find an owner who will be my new best friend and give me lots of attention, cuddles and strokes. I will happily follow you around the house, supervising your every move, until I convince you it’s time to snuggle up on the sofa for a rest.

I don’t like other cats and I don’t like the idea of sharing my owner’s attention with anyone, so I would prefer to be the only pet in the home. I am happy to live with children as long as they are able to play nicely with me and be gentle. Once I have settled into my new home, I would like to have access to the outdoors so I can explore in the garden.

If you’re looking for a loving cat like me, please apply to adopt me today!

Good morning, I’m Wayne, a 3 month old kitten looking for my forever home. I was born at the centre, along with my two brothers who have now been adopted, I can’t wait for it to be my turn to find a family.

I’m a typical kitten who is full of energy and loves to explore, play and get up to a bit of mischief! Once I’ve tired myself out running around the house, it won’t take me long to fall asleep, cuddled up on your lap. As I am so young, it’s really important that at least one person in my family is home all of the time to keep an eye on me and help me settle in, I get lonely very quickly when no-one is around. I am happy to live with children of any age, but they will need to learn how to play with me nicely using my favourite toys.

I have tested positive for FIV which means I must live indoors only and I need to be the only cat in the home. Cats with FIV can live perfectly normal lives, but the team will be able to talk you through all the details when you come to meet me. Although I can’t live with cats, I could potentially live with a dog as long as my owners are able to ensure I stay inside.

If you are looking for a cute bundle of fluff to join your family, please apply for me today!

Good morning, my name is Muffin, and I am a 2-year-old female terrier mix that is on the lookout for a new home. I came into the centre as a stray, so the team don't know anything about my past.

I am definitely the sort of dog that you hear before you see - I get so excited to be going out on walks that I bark to let everyone know how happy I am! I am very sweet girl that loves being fussed and groomed - it is the best way to form a bond with me!

I can live with older children that could respect my space and wouldn't try to pick me up etc. - just because I am little, doesn't mean that I want to be held all of the time! I am a terrier that has a lot of terrier things to do, so I need to be on the ground. I am unable to live with cats as I find them very scary, and I also can't live with other dogs as I have been a bit reactive to them here. Hopefully with some training in my new home, I can learn to be around other dogs nicely.

I am not used to being left on my own as I like people so much, so I will need there to be someone around all of the time that can work on building up the time I can be left alone slowly. I am not very good at walking nicely on my lead at the moment, so some loose lead training is very important.

If you think that you have space in your heart and home for a tiny dog with a big personality, then please apply for me today!

Mango, now called Kedi, recently went off to his forever home and seems to have settled in very well already! His owner says "He's very friendly and cuddly, and is happy sleeping in the window, or coming to my lap for cuddles. I've attached a photo of him sleeping on my lap earlier."

We think he looks very happy to be home!

Good morning, I’m Cindy, a 5 year old Greyhound looking for a home now that I have retired from racing.

I’m quite a nervous girl and I struggled to settle at the rescue centre, so I am currently living with one of NAWT’s amazing foster carers which has helped me so much. My fosterer has two other Greyhounds and I quickly became friends with them. I love being around other dogs, watching how they behave and how confident they are really helps me to feel safe. They have been showing me how great life can be and teaching me to be more trusting of people. I would really like it if my new home had another dog for me befriend too.

Like a typical Greyhound, I enjoy slow walks and snoozing the day away - you will often find me curled up with my back legs tucked right up to my head. I have also recently started learning how to play and I like it a lot!

I’m looking for a family who will be home a lot of the time and be understanding of my nervousness and take things slowly to help me settle at my own pace. I can live with older children who would be able to read my body language and understand when I need space, or some reassurance. I cannot live with cats as I would be too tempted to chase them, but I would like to live with another dog. It is also important that I have a garden to run around in.

If you have the space and time to help a shy girl like me, please apply for me today!

We've had a lovely update from Rosie, who was adopted earlier this year, her owners say "Roise has had so many new things to adjust to since she came home with us in February but she's taken everything in her stride. Snuggling up on the sofa, group walks with new doggy friends and playing in the garden are her favourite things to do and she loves her training and going to scent classes. She still has lots to learn but is settled and happy and we are so grateful to have her as part of the family".

We are so happy for her!

Good morning, my name is Marley, and I am an 11-year-old boy that is looking for a new home to call my own. I came into the centre due to a change in my owners circumstances.

You may have noticed my very unique looking eye, which makes me very noticeable! When I was younger, I was involved in a car accident, which has left me blind in one eye. I have been checked over by a veterinary ophthalmologist and they have confirmed that I am not in any pain, so I don't need to have my eye removed.

I am a very friendly and chatty boy that loves being fussed! As soon as I see someone come in to the cattery I get very chatty and demanding for fuss.

I can live with older children that can respect my space and leave me alone when I want them to. I don't want to live with other cats as I have previously been known to fight with them. I could live with a cat-savvy dog that would give me space, but we would need to be introduced slowly and carefully.

When I have settled into my new home I will need outdoor access so that I can find the most purrfect sunbathing spot! I am used to living near quiet residential roads, so I will need to live near those sorts of roads again.

If you have space in your heart and home for a chatty lad like me, then please apply for me today!

Good morning, my name is Bear and I am looking for someone to be my new best friend. I came into the centre as a stray, so the team aren't 100% sure what my past has been like, but everyone here loves me and I’m sure you will too.

If you visit the centre, it won’t take you long to spot me as I like to keep an eye on everyone walking past and will poke my nose out of the kennel to say hello. I’m a friendly boy who loves being around people and having their attention either by playing together or getting lots of fuss.

As I am young and haven’t had much training or socialisation, I need my new owner to continue the reward based training I have started here and it is important that I find someone who has experience with large breed dogs like me. I can live with adults and teenagers only and everyone in my household will need to be involved with my training to ensure it is consistent and I learn the right things. I would like to be the only pet in the home and I can guard my resources from other dogs, and I get very tempted to chase cats.

I am not used to being left alone and can be destructive if I am left with no enrichment so I will need someone to be home a lot to spend time with me at first and gradually build up to being alone for longer periods over time.

If you are looking for a handsome guy like me, then please apply for me today!

As you may have seen, we are looking to provide new and improved facilities in a purpose built centre at our centre. As many of you will know, the buildings at this site are run down and costly to run. Over the last few years, we have looked at how we can improve the centre for the animals and for the people that visit us/work here.

As a result, after consideration of all our options, we have submitted a planning application to Hertsmere Council (ref. 23/1731/FUL) to create a new centre to the south-eastern side of the site.

In order to fund and facilitate the new Watford Centre, NAWT have entered into a partnership with a developer who will build some small commercial units on the north-western side of the site. This development will be phased so that our existing centre can continue to operate whilst the new centre is built. Without the commercial development, we would not be able to fund building the new centre and it is an important part of the ‘enabling’ strategy for improving our facilities.

We would greatly appreciate any supportive comments on the planning application. If you don’t want to comment on specific aspects of the improvements the new facilities will bring, you can simply write a comment to say you support the scheme and the important work that NAWT does, and refer to the planning application number 23/1731/FUL. https://www6.hertsmere.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=S5B0L0IFL2100

These are some artist impressions of what the new centre would look like, with a new administration block which includes the offices for staff and volunteers, as well as a community room for education and local groups to use. New staff accommodation and new catteries and kennels and other ancillary buildings as well as new exercise and training areas for our dogs.

Good morning, I’m Dodger and this is my brother Charley, we are a pair of 9 week old kittens looking for a home.

We’re typical kittens who are cute, cuddly and playful and we can’t wait to find a family. We have been living with an amazing fosterer who has taken such good care of us and told us all about what life will be like once we are adopted. We’re looking forward to spending our days zooming around, playing with toys, lounging in the sun and cuddling up for a snooze on the sofa.

As we are so young, we will need someone to be home with us for most of the day, to keep us company and help us settle in. We would be happy to live with another cat or even a dog as long as we are introduced in the right way to make sure we’ll be friends. We would also be happy to live with children of any age, but an adult will need to make sure they know how to play with us nicely using our favourite toys. Once we are settled and fully vaccinated, we would like to be able to go out in the garden to explore all the new sights and smells of the outside world.

If you are looking for two bundles of cuteness to join your family, please apply today!

Good morning, I’m Belle and I’m hoping to find a new home. I’m a nervous girl and I really didn’t cope well in the kennels, so I have been living in foster care with a member of staff which has done wonders for my confidence and has helped me to feel safe and trusting again. I’m looking for someone who will be patient and understanding with me so I can continue learning to put my worries behind me.

Once you have taken the time to bond with me, you will soon see that I am the bestest friend you could ever have. I love spending time with people, it doesn’t matter what we’re doing, as long as we’re together, I’ll be happy. Want to sit in the garden? I’ll keep an eye on the bugs for you. Reading a book? I’ll prop the pages up with my nose. Having a cuppa with a biscuit? Don’t worry, I’ll hoover up the crumbs. And if you ever want an extra 10 minutes in bed, I’ll happily curl up on top of you to give you an excuse to stay! All I want in return is someone who will love me back and won’t mind when I decide to decorate the hallway with stuffing I have expertly picked out of toys!

I am looking for a quiet home with teenage children or adults only where I am the only pet. I don’t mind seeing younger children for occasional visits, but I would find it too noisy living with them all the time. Although I’m a senior, I absolutely love having zoomies and running around outside, so there needs to be a lot of space for me to get my laps in!

If you want a best friend with endless love to give, please apply for me today!

Eddie arrived as an unclaimed stray when he was just 6 months old in January of this year. Unfortunately, we didn't know anything about his life up to that point and we were unsure of what he may have experienced but we knew we would be able to make a difference now he was in our care.

He spent time in foster care so that he could get as much socialisation as possible, as it's so important for puppies and he had been missing those important early stages. After a month in foster care, he met his new owner, and he was officially adopted at the beginning of March.

We're so pleased to see that Eddie has been living his dream life since we waved goodbye to him. His family say "He is gorgeous and such a good boy. His training, whilst a work in progress is going really well. He is even enjoying some agility."

Good morning, I’m Winnie and I am looking for a new home with an owner who will be able to help me build my confidence.

I’m a very sweet girl, and I love spending time with people, but I am also very nervous which means it takes a while for me to settle and learn to trust people. I tend to stay in my nice cosy bed where I know I am safe, so I often get overlooked in the cattery but I promise that if you have the patience to give me the time I need to bond with you, you will have a best friend for life.

I am very affectionate with my favourite people, I love to have neck scratches, I meow along in conversations and I like to follow my favourite staff members as they walk around the cattery - I think I’m a very good supervisor! I haven’t got much interest in toys at the moment, but this might be something I pick up later on. Something I definitely am interested in is treats and if you bring me Dreamies, you’re instantly on my good side!

I would like to live in a quiet household where someone is home a lot of the time to help me settle and I would like to be the only pet. Any children in the home will need to be understanding of my nervousness and behave calmly around me, giving me space when I need it. Once I am settled, I would like access to a garden to explore.

If you have the the patience and space in your heart for a sweet, shy girl like me, please apply today.

Good morning, I’m Coco, I’m an ex-racing Greyhound looking for a calm and quiet retirement home.

I’m quite a shy girl, especially when I’m in a new place or meeting new people. The best thing to do is take things slow and gentle with me and I will soon learn to trust you. Once I feel safe and build up my confidence, you will discover a whole new side of my personality. At the moment, I’m feeling a bit too worried to play with my toys, but I’ve been keeping an eye on the squeaky ones and I’m very intrigued by them and I think I might have a go at playing with them soon. maybe you could help me?

Even though I’m nervous, everyone here says I am a sweet girl and they can’t all be wrong! I have been enjoying spending time with people one on one and cuddling up to them. I think I’d really like to find an owner who will be my best friend and build up a strong bond with me, so I would like the to be home a lot of the time. This will also help me settle in as the home environment will be very different to what I am used to.

I need a calm and quiet household, so any children in the home will need to be able to understand my needs and give me space when I need it. I could live with another dog who is of similar size to me but I cannot live with cats because I would want to chase them. I will need a home with a secure garden for me to bounce around in when I want to have zoomies.

If you have enough love to share with a nervous girl like me, please apply for me today.

You may have seen our recent post about the lovely Sammy, who was recently adopted after 4 months at the centre. We're pleased to say we have had an update from his new family to say he has settled in very well and everyone has fallen completely in love with him (we're not surprised!) This is so lovely to see, as Sammy struggled with staying in a kennel while he was here, so it is amazing to see he is now living the happy life he deserves!

Good morning, I’m Popo and I am looking for a nice, quiet home to retire to in my twilight years.

I’m a friendly girl and I love attention so I’m really looking for an owner who will be home most of the time and will be happy to take life slowly with me as a companion. I enjoy being stroked and groomed and hearing people tell me how beautiful I am. I would like to spend my days lying in the sun, watching the world go by outside and curling up on the sofa in front of the TV. I’m a clever girl and I like routines, so I will often be sat waiting for my carers when I know it’s time for dinner, I’m very good at supervising and will meow to them to make sure they are preparing it right!

I think I would be best suited to a single owner who needs a friend and would be able to give me their undivided attention. But I would be happy to live with a family too, as long as any children can understand that I am an older lady who needs my space from time to time. I would like to be the only pet in the home and my home will need to be a generally quiet environment. Once I have settled, I would like to have access to a garden for sunbathing.

If you’re looking for a purrfect companion, please apply for me today!

We're lucky enough to have some volunteers helping to get our site in tip top condition for the summer months and we could really do with a few more gardening supplies to help their work. We particularly need flowers/plants to pot as we have now cleared out the weeds!

If you are able to donate anything at all, please drop it round to the centre anytime between 11am and 4pm.

Good morning, my name is Tamara, and I am a 16-year-old lady that is looking for a wonderful retirement home. I came into the centre due to my previous owner (that had adopted me from NAWT) sadly passing away.

I am a very friendly and loving girl that enjoys being on peoples laps when I know them. I can be quite chatty when I see people, and like some fuss.

I can live with older children that could fuss me but give me space when I want it. I can't live with any other cats and dogs as I find them worrying.

I haven't previously had free outdoor access, instead I have been used to a secure, quiet garden that is cat proof. I would like something similar or access to a catio in my new home, as I don't have any road sense.

If you have lots of love to give to an older girl like me, then please apply for me today!

06/06/2024

Good morning, My name is Toffee, I’m a 1-year-old Mini Lop that is looking for a new home, and a new bunny boyfriend! I am looking for a home via Home Direct which means that I get to stay in my current home until a new one is found for me.

I am a confident, friendly girl who loves to have strokes, be groomed and enjoy tasty treats! I like to run around getting plenty of exercise, playing with toys and exploring my home.

I could live with children of any age in my new home, but all interactions between us should be supervised by an adult. I could live with other pets, as long as I was housed securely away from them. One of the most important things that I am looking for in my new home is an existing neutered male rabbit, so that we can become friends and enjoy each others company. I am not neutered at the moment, but this will be done by the centre before I go to my new home, so I will need 6-8 weeks in a separate space so that my hormones can die down, and to make sure that I am all healed!

I am currently an indoor rabbit, so I will need to live inside or in a heated outdoor enclosure. My accommodation needs to be at least 3m x 2m, in line with the Rabbit Welfare Association and Fund's guidelines.

If you have a single male rabbit looking for a friendly girl like me, then please apply today!

05/06/2024

Good morning, my name is Bobby, and I am a 12-year-old lad that is keeping my paws crossed that I can find a new home!

I am looking for a home via Home Direct, which means that until a new home is found for me, I am staying in my current home. This keeps my stress levels down, as catteries are very stressful environments! This does mean that I won't be able to meet my new family before I go to their home, but the good news is that I am coming straight from a home, so they know a lot about me!

I am a sweet but shy boy, that likes to keep to myself. I am not overly keen on being fussed, but in the right environment I may come round and enjoy some chin scratches.

I am being rehomed as I am very unsettled in my current home, due to an increase in the activity in the neighbourhood. I wait all day to go outside to wander, and as soon as I go out when I think the coast is clear, I get startled and run back inside.

I am looking for an adult only home that is pet free, so that I can have space for myself. I would like my home to be in a quiet, rural area, as I love to go out exploring when there is peace and quiet! A cat flap would be a great way to give me outdoor access, as then I could come and go as I pleased.

If you think that you have the perfect home that is just missing me, then please apply for me today!
