Merry Christmas to you and your pets, from all of us here at NAWT Herts.,
Thank you for all the support you have given us this year, through sharing our posts, responding to our pleas for help, sending items from our Amazon Wishlist, entering raffles, coming to events, volunteering and donating. You have helped us to be able to care for homeless and abandoned animals in Hertfordshire this year, we couldn't have done it without your kindness and generosity.
We hope you all have a wonderful day, Thank You!
Thank you to @beautifuljoesdogtreats for kindly donating these wonderful lamb lung treats for the dogs at our centre, Daisy was only too happy to do the first taste test before anyone else go their paws on them!
Happy National Black Cat Day
Did you know that 70% of cats in rescue are black or black and whte? And that they are likely to spend twice as long in rescue compared to cats with different coloured fur?
As it's National Black Cat Day, lets do some myth busting on the reasons why people over look this wonderful cats!
Freya and Stella say Thank You
Kittens Freya and Stella would like to say thank you to the person who kindly sent them some new toys through our Amazon Wishlist!
Every gift sent through our Wishlist helps the animals and the centre to thrive, if you would like to send us a gift, you can see our Wishlist here - https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/3ABU8BJCGDU8P/ref=nav_wishlist_lists_1
The Truth About Black Cats in Rescue
Of all the cats currently under our care, 27 of them are black or black and white. With only 15% being reserved to be adopted.
Statistically, 70% of cats in rescue are black or black and white and they are more likely to stay in rescue longer than cats of other colours. Unfortunately, we find that there is a lot of prejudice against adopting black cats as they are seen as boring or have negative superstition, but none of this is true. If you are planning to adopt a rescue cat, please don't overlook these wonderful little kitties.
All of our available animals can be found here: www.nawt.org.uk/rehoming
Loki came to the centre in January last year at just 8 weeks old, his owners had bought him online and found they couldn't meet his needs.
He was quickly adopted by a family who had previously rescued two dogs from us, and they recently sent us this video of Loki enjoying his agility training which he does every week. How amazing does he look!? We can't believe how far he has come from the scared, nervous little pup we first met a year and a half ago.
Well done Loki!
Melissa's Skydive for NAWT
How amazing is this!?
Melissa completed a skydive on Saturday to raise money for our centre and she did an incredible job!
There's still time to support Melissa with her challenge by donating here - https://www.justgiving.com/page/m-wise-1678301647970/
WELL DONE MELISSA!
As we reach the end of Adopt a Greyhound Month, we sat down with Laura, one of our Greyhound loving volunteers, to hear all about why she thinks you should consider adopting a greyhound like she did!
