Beautiful Bougainvillea !

Bring spectacular vibrant and tropical colours into your home with Bougainvillea! We currently have a great selection in shades of pink 🩷

The bright colours are in fact paper like bracts, which surround smaller, white flowers.

These beautiful plants can flower multiple times from spring through to early Autumn if cared for properly 😍

These plants need frost free conditions to grow, so although can be grown outdoors in the UK/Ireland, they are often a very popular plant for indoor sunny spots such as a sun room, conservatory or south facing window.

For healthy and happy Bougainvilleas, adjustment of seasonal watering and feeding is essential.

They begin to grow in early spring and so fortnightly watering is recommended when new growth is noticed (depending on sunlight / temperatures) Allowing the compost to dry out between waterings.

They should then be fed in mid April with a high nitrogen content houseplant feed, such as Baby Bio or similar. When the bracts begin to colour, it is recommended to switch to a high potash feed.

To get the best results Bougainvilleas need 5-6 hours of daily indirect sunlight! (Plenty of daylight is key - but not direct sun, if we ever get it!)

Once the bracts fall off, switching back to a high nitrogen feed can help encourage a second batch to grow.

Flowering Chinese Dogwood - Cornus Kousa China Girl

A beautiful deciduous large shrub or small tree with pretty star shaped white flowers in late spring and early summer - a garden feature for sure!

The dark green leaves in summer turn to colours of oranges and red in autumn before falling

Red raspberry like fruits are also formed in autumn which are enjoyed by local wildlife

Perfect for all year round interest in the garden!

We have one large Cornus 'China Girl's remaining - it is standing around 6ft tall (with some branches now hitting closer to 7ft) and costs £210

Woo hoo! The weather is finally looking like it is going to be improve with drier spells and warmer temperatures forecast for this weekend and next week!

It has not been the best spring by any means, but there is still time to plant summer bedding and enjoy the beautiful array of colours through summer and into September and even October!

We are seeking to employ a full time retail assistant to join our team in providing exceptional customer service (40 hours per week on a temporary contract - Maternity Cover)

Duration - Approximately 11 months

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

Assisting customers both in person and over the phone while providing a positive shopping experience

Till operation and cash handling

Displaying and presenting stock along with stock management/ rotation

Creating eye catching displays both indoors and outdoors

Checking, pricing and merchandising new deliveries to our store

Offering friendly and helpful advice/guidance on products we sell

Organisation and cleanliness of the store along with other routine housekeeping tasks

Watering and managing plant health

Although gardening/horticultural knowledge is desirable, this is not essential as full training will be provided

We are a small, family run garden centre business established in 1977. We pride ourselves on the excellent customer service we offer to our local community, relationships we have built and the safe, fun and welcoming environment we have created for both the public and employees

We sell all you need for outdoor spaces and gardens, as well as indoor houseplants, seasonal sundries/decorations, pet and wild bird food and much more.

There is the possibility of permanent, part time hours, being available for the right candidate upon completion of this maternity cover.

Fargesia 'Moon Tears' Bamboo

This hardy evergreen, non invasive bamboo species is perfect for screening, hedging and topiary with it's lush slender leaves and compact growing habit

A perfect alternative to the more common buxus (boxwood) to have something a little more unique in your garden.

We have just received a fresh delivery of pond plants, including marginals (which only like a little bit of water) and Lilly's which like to be completely submerged

We have had lots of customers in recently purchasing pond plants for their own make shifts ponds - it doesn't have to be anything fancy .... A pot with no holes works fine and this addition can help attract additional wildlife to your garden 🌞
