East Norfolk Cat Centre

East Norfolk Cat Centre Welcome to the Cats Protection East Norfolk Cat Centre. We are a friendly centre. Homing approximately 400-500 cats annually. We are open for reception sales.
(136)

Our doors are open to visitors 11-4 daily. Please see Additional Information before planning your visit We stock our shelves with cat litter, cat food, cat care goods and Cats Protection merchandise. Similarly our Bric-a-Brac shed is open daily for shoppers and donors of second-hand goods. Our reception and cat care staff will always do their best to offer face to face advice and assistance. Match

ing cats and homes appropriately is important to us. Our aim is to find cats homes that they can remain in. Our preferred method of homing, and the one that works best for our cats, is for prospective adopters to read about our cats online and register an interest in cats that suit their needs. We can then follow this with appropriate cat matching conversations and viewing appointments. Those who wish to visit us on site can, on arrival, expect a cat matching conversation with one of our cat care assistants. If we have suitable cats available they will then be invited to spend some time with them. We no longer open our pens for casual cat viewing. We’ve found our cats have been much more relaxed, healthier and happier with less disturbance. We can however in most instances give casual visitors a little walk round the centre and an overview of our work. We can only accept cats into our care by prearranged appointment. Our centre is very busy and we can not afford to leave pen space empty, therefore we can not routinely cater for surprise arrivals. We have no veterinary facilities on site, sick or injured emergencies are best taken to your local veterinary surgery.

We're currently looking for new fosterers!

We've been getting a lot of enquiries about kittens that need to come into our centre, and while the fosterers we have are amazing, we just need more!

Fostering is a huge help to us at the centre, as it enables to take kittens into Cats Protection care, while freeing up pen space for any other cats that need to be rehomed!

If you have a spare room and a love for cats, why not consider fostering with us?

For more information, please contact our Volunteer Team Leader via email on [email protected] or give us a call on 01362 687919

(Please note that the kitten in the picture is not available for adoption. If you are looking to adopt a cat, please visit our website to see the cats that are looking for a new home)

Can you help our Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket Cats Protection by sharing this post for us :)

Jet is a lovely-natured, friendly cat who is just over 5 yrs old and loves fuss and attention. He's a real beauty, a keen lap cat and loves playing with his toys. What makes him special is that he's not able to mix with other cats as he is FIV-positive so he needs an indoor home or, even better, one with an enclosed, secure garden or a catio so that he can still enjoy the outside world. - visit there website at - https://www.cats.org.uk/bury-st-edmunds

FIV cats, like Jet, can still live a full and happy life and you can help them by providing lots of love and playtime - for instance by making sure they have plenty of things to keep them happy and occupied inside.

It’s important to keep an FIV cat healthy and make sure they are vaccinated and given regular boosters and health checks as with any cat. But - most importantly let them be a cat!
If you would like to know more about Jet, please call our homing officer on 01284 851055
And more information on owning an FIV cat is here:

This beautiful girl is Pepper.
Pepper is looking for a quiet home where she can potter about as she pleases, with a comfy lap available for cuddles. She likes to be brushed and to play with her mouse.
Pepper is a sweet natured, friendly cat once she has settled and got to know you.
She would be best suited to a quiet, adult only home where she can be the centre of attention.

Fluffy is 9 years old and this little lady is a real looker!
She is the perfect cat for someone who is looking for company but not necessarily a lap cat. While Fluffy likes a fuss and is always wrapping herself around your ankles, she will let you know when she is ready for her next siesta with a gentle bat or a loving nibble.
Fluffy is super playful and will happily bat her toy mouse around for hours. She loves to hang out and watch the world go by, and likes to follow her fosterers around while they are doing their chores.
Fluffy could live with a calm cat, but no dogs or children. She would benefit from access to a safe outside space to enjoy, as well as accompany you for a cuppa in the sunshine.
If you're ready for the purrfect companion to sit with and watch the telly after a hard day’s work, then Fluffy is the cat for you. You will be rewarded with purrs and pads from our beautiful ombre girl.

Today is the day our Manager Paul starts his Toubkal climb to raise funds for our Centre.🥰

Paul had stated "As a lover of hills and all things outdoors its a challenge I couldn't resist, also this will be the highest I've ever climbed and also my first at altitude".

This is located in the High Atlas mountains, Jebel Toubkal reaches an impressive 4,167m, over 3 times the height of Ben Nevis. As the highest mountain in the Arabic world, and the second highest on the continent of Africa.

If you would like to support Paul for doing this, please head on over to his just giving page 🙂 - https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/paul-hannant1

What's been happening at East Norfolk cat centre?

It's that time already another month has passed! Time certainly flies here, we have been very busy with rehoming and with our population management this month.

As you can see from our board, we had another spectacular month with rehoming 40 cats! We thank everyone who has adopted from us and we hope that all your lovely new companions have settled in very well. 😊

We have seen a massive influx of un-neutered cats pop up this month, so we are continuing to do our best with getting these numbers down. We are trying our best to spread the word out there, if your cat is not neutered/spayed yet, please get them booked in to a vet.

Please take a look over why you should get your cat neutered - https://www.cats.org.uk/help-and-advice/neutering-and-vaccinations/neutering-your-cat

You may of noticed all the kittens in the photo, these are just some of the kittens we have had in our care over this month, which have all now been rehomed. There just the cutest! 🥰

We continue to support needy cats in the community by delivering cat food to Watton Food Hub. If you would like donate some food to help them also, please feel free to drop in our centre to make a donation. 😊

We hosted a evening meeting of the North Elmham Young Countrysiders Group who received a educational talk, tour of our centre and helped make cat enrichment toys.

We had a couple of collections during this month with CTR, we really do appreciate the continuous work they do and how they benefit us as a charity. If you'd like to find out more information of what they do, check out their website. - https://live.ctrgroup.co.uk/ctr-recover/

Check back at the end of the month for our next update! 😊❤

Meet the beautiful Geoffrey Tubby. He is 5 years old.

This smashing lad came to us as a stray so we would love nothing more than to find him his forever home.

He is a lovely boy, he just has to get to know you at first and then he turns into a love bug and will dribble away. Geoffrey Tubby would love a garden in his new home to explore and also a quiet relaxed home he could live in a home with older children. We have cat tested Geoffrey with another cat in the centre and got on fine with them, he wasn't phased by them and continued to do his own thing.

If you feel you could give Geoffrey Tubby the home he deserves please do apply on our website https://www.cats.org.uk/dereham -29043

A big thank you too Jonathan Casey Photography for coming and taking these wonderful pictures of him :)

Could you help foster a cat for an owner fleeing domestic abuse?

Often refuges are unable to accept pets, which leaves cat owners in an impossible choice between accessing safety and leaving their beloved cat behind. Cats Protection’s ‘Lifeline’ is a free, confidential cat fostering service for owners fleeing domestic abuse.

Owner’s cats are fostered in the homes of volunteer foster carers for 6-9 months whilst they access refuge or safe alternative accommodation. Once they are safely rehoused and able to have their cat home, we reunite them. Fostering has a range of benefits –You have the knowledge and expert support from our specialist team and it is completely free for volunteers with all expenses covered by Cats Protection.

You get to enjoy the companionship and benefits of having a cat stay with you, all the while knowing you are doing something amazing to support an owner in need. Please reach out if you or somebody you know would be interested in fostering!
