Happy Easter Everyone 🐰
We’re having a baby bunny kind of Easter. Here’s one that we’re hand rearing at the moment 💕

And we thought donkeys were stubborn!!! 😂
This lady had her yearly vaccination as well as a hoof trim and didn’t fancy standing on the weigh bridge!

Our wildlife were struggling this past few days due to the heat and I’m sure, like the rest of us, are glad of a temperature change!! ☀️
Always try and leave a shallow dish of water out for wildlife in warm weather! They will always appreciate it!💧

Yesterday’s patient is looking happier today after being found staggering around on a main road 🤞
Another lovely video clip from yesterday’s annual Red Squirrel roundup day at Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre. This year’s juvenile squirrels were caught up, health checked, sexed, and microchipped. Males and females are kept separate and they’re now ready to move to other collections as part of the Red Squirrel breeding programme.

It’s that time of year again. Another successful annual Red Squirrel roundup day yesterday at Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre. Our vet Nadine and wildlife assistant Arianna helped the staff at the centre catch up this years young. All health checked, sexed, microchipped and ready to move to other collections as part of the Red Squirrel breeding programme.

This buzzard was glad to be released today! He came in for just a short stay, having been found not looking too well by a member of the public. Fortunately no broken bones, injuries or eyesight problems were found and this buzzard should be able to go on to live a normal wild life.
We don’t get to see moles very often! An on site rescue (from one of our naughty cats) and successful release. 🌿
Today was release day. These two feral pigeons were brought in 4 weeks ago having fallen from a nest, they were tube fed during their first week with us and moved to our pigeon aviary once strong enough. Now they’re flying free 🐦💗
Today we’ve had a skinny and injured racing pigeon brought in. He’s safe, warm and happily tucking in to some food. His whereabouts has been reported to The Royal Pigeon Racing Association so that we can locate his owner 🐦
We hope you’re all enjoying the sunshine! Nadine our vet came across this slithery one on her rounds today. It’s not everyday we see one of these members of our British Wildlife! 🐍 Guess the species!
Two of last nights new additions!
This pair of feral pigeon squabs fell out of a nest in Whitchurch. They’re both unharmed and won’t be long before they’re ready for the aviary 🐦🐦
Some of you may remember the juvenile ferel pigeon, which fell from a height, and was brought in to us a few weeks ago. He’s been having assisted feeding by crop tube four times daily. This has been weaned down and he’s now self feeding, feeling strong and is ready to be moved from his rehabilitation box to the aviary. This will allow him to build up his muscles before being released. He came in with peck injuries to his head, his feathers are finally starting to grow back.
We would like to introduce one of today’s new additions. This juvenile hoglet was found sleeping on a road a few days ago and again yesterday. He’s come to us for assessment and a little TLC. He’s been sleeping all day in his warm house and has just livened up this evening. He seems to be really enjoying his dinner 🦔
