Some absolutely enormous babies in this clutch. Some really cool ones too - looks like I did quite well with the Arctic odds at first glance 🤙

I won’t mark them up as poss het toffees so whoever takes any of these might get a nice surprise het in the future 🤞

Complete slug out on what was my most anticipated clutch of the year 👎

Disappointing, but not all is lost - she slugged out in her first clutch last year and then went on to give me a decent second clutch. Let’s see what happens 🤞

Eggs for the second day on the bounce and it’s 14 perfect and 0 slugs from a first time mum.

After a tumultuous first couple of seasons back, it’s nice to start seeing signs of progress after lots of tinkering and hard work 👍

RIP, Brian - an absolute hero 💚

On behalf of the Barczyk family and our entire team at The Reptarium, it is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Brian Barczyk.

More than the guiding light of our organization, Brian's fervent passion for reptiles and wildlife, along with his steadfast dedication to education, has touched innumerable hearts and minds globally.

Our deepest sympathies are with Brian's family, his friends, and all those whose lives he has touched. We've lost an exceptional individual – a visionary, mentor, and friend. For those of us who had the privilege of working alongside him, Brian's absence leaves an immeasurable void.
As we navigate this difficult time, we find comfort in the memories and the lasting light of Brian's work. He will be deeply missed but indeed, never forgotten.

Morning everyone,

I’ve put together a relatively primitive (but functional) breeding spreadsheet which tracks individual stats from each of my females which then feeds into an overall tracker at the top - you can see some of the things it looks for below.

I appreciate a lot of people will have much more comprehensive and functional methods of tracking this sort of thing, but for a modest operation like mine it works a treat. I’m hoping as I tweak things over the years I’ll be able to highlight any successes and failures.

It is quite user friendly with most of it being automated, there are only certain cells you need to manually update, so even for those not fluent in excel it should be quite straightforward to navigate.

Anyway, if anyone would like a copy I’d be happy to fire over a blank template for you to use - just send me a PM.

Also, don’t judge me on my 2022 stats 😬 - a year to forget but also a lot of key learnings which have fed into a more productive 2023.

All in all, a really decent year:

🥚 92% hatch rate (33/36)
🐍 100% of babies feeding on FT
🤰🏻No female complications and all recovered well
🏠 All but 5 gone to their new homes
✅ 3 holdbacks

After a rough first couple of seasons, I’ll take that all day.

Thanks to everyone who has been kind enough to offer their advice, trust me with their animals and has given a home to some of mine this year.
