Deposits.

Just a quick note to thank all our customers for working with us regarding deposits. I think this half term must be the first test since introducing the policy at the end of last summer as most bookings were already made for the other school holidays in between. I know there has been some teething problems but this is the first school holiday period in my time of running Upperwood that every booking has been accounted for and every pet has turned up that we’ve expected.

I think we can safely say deposits for bookings will be staying. We just now need to work on customers paying their invoices promptly and without reminders!!

Road closure from Monday 15th

I noticed today that from Monday the council plan to be working on Sydnope hill. In the past people have always been allowed access to the kennels but delays are to be expected.

Reading this the work will be both above and below us which isn’t ideal!

Deposits

We’ve always tried to run our business with the principle of ‘you be right with us, and we’ll be right with you’. Sadly an increasing minority of customers seem to be taking advantage of our approach and are booking their pets in with us without actually booking a trip themselves so they have the security of knowing that if they decide to go away their pet is booked in. The problem with this is that when we get to the dates they are forgetting they have their pet booked or they alter the booking massively by shortening the stay. This would be fine if we were given notice so that we had a sporting chance of taking another booking.

For this reason we must now change our approach to how we take bookings. From now on every booking must be secured with a deposit.

This is something that I really wish we didn’t have to do as it will increase an already large workload but I see no other alternative. Please see attached for the deposits that will be required.

At the end of another long Friday, Jack and I thought we’d show you our new uniform (hats optional) as well as the 2024 diary. I can’t actually believe how many bookings we already have for next year!

Over the course of the next 12 months or so we plan to phase out the land line number and we would ask everyone to start using the above mobile number. The phone will only be answered during our working hours but you will be able to text/WhatsApp/iMessage. Our preferred method of communicating with you will remain by phone! It’s good to talk!!! And quicker!!!!

AVAILABILITY for dogs (or lack of)

If you are hoping to book a weekend with us the next available weekend is September. Almost all school holiday dates are completely booked. If you organise something last minute it is still worth giving us a call as ‘no shows’ are still causing issues.

Sled dogs only this morning I would say. the lane is passable with a good 4x4 but I’ve not seen a car on the main road since I’ve been awake (4:30) so I’m guessing all routes in are blocked.

Breakfast at Upperwood……

When I took this video Chloe had all ready taken some bowls!! Full house and we’ve exercised, cleaned out and given breakfast to all the dogs before 8am. Pretty impressive if I say so myself

Prices from 1st October 2022

It is unlikely to come as any surprise that as we enter the winter months I am having to rise the costs of boarding pets with us. The increase in costs will ensure the best possible care is given to all animals staying with us.

Fully booked for Dogs until September.

This year has been unprecedented with the amount of bookings and we can not see how we can take on anymore bookings for dogs without our standards slipping. For this reason we must make the decision of saying that we can not take anymore bookings until the second week in September. We do have a few spaces in the cattery but this is limited too.

We have now thankfully managed to get back into the original email account. We have however decided to carry on with the new email address. Email Issues and we can’t read your emails!!

We have been blocked out of our email account and the server is being very unhelpful. As much as I hope we can resolve the issue it is looking more unlikely. If you have sent an email since 1pm yesterday we can’t read it.
