HOLIDAY ☀️ 14th - 20th August

We are now on holiday all messages, calls, texts and WhatsApp’s will be returned on the 21st of august ready for the week we come back.

✂️ BOOKING REMINDER ✂️

We currently have a 7 week wait for appointments. We would recommend to pre book your appointments before you leave to avoid disappointment. If you book and your dog and it doesn’t need doing by the time your appointment is due it is much much easier to push appointments back than bring them forward, and we are always happy to do this (please give at least 24 hours notice). We can also book appointments and then mark dogs down for a cancellation however this is not guaranteed.

Wow, what a week

We have made many changes to Top Dog during our week off:
✅ We are newly decorated
✅ New door,no more saying “Give it a shove”
✅ New record keeping system
✅ Texts sent to all customers
✅ New prices worked out
✅ New terms & Conditions made
✅ New uniform ordered

We would like to thank everyone for being understanding about the price changes starting from tomorrow the 25th of April 2022, we have done this based on working out inflation and average prices locally, if you haven’t had a text please let us know as we are updating contact information. We look forward to opening our (new) door tomorrow and getting back to work.

18th-24th of April

We are having this week off, during this time we are going to be re-assessing all prices, please be reassured this is purely to keep our costs covered and keep us open.

It is inevitable there will be a jump in price, we understand this could be concerning for some so any questions please ask.
There may be a delay in response but we will get back to everyone by the 24th ready to start fresh. We will also be making changes to our terms and conditions, so please after the 24th take a copy when visiting 🐶

The parlour itself will be undergoing some maintenance including a new door being fitted 🙌🏼

FLEAS

Just a little reminder if we find live fleas on any dog that comes into the parlour we have to charge an extra £10, this covers:
- Flea shampoo to kill any fleas on the animal at the time to prevent the spread.
- A parlour treatment to safe guard any other customers in the parlour that day.

We are always vigilant as we can uncover many things while grooming, we will tell you if we find dead fleas. This is a good sign that whatever treatment you have used is working but they have had fleas at some point. (You will not be charged if the fleas are dead)

Please remember our flea shampoo is not a treatment, it is to kill the fleas on the dog at the time whilst in the parlour.

Here is a flea from last week that we were able to put under the microscope ourselves.

✂️ REMINDER ✂️

All grooms have gone up by £1 this is to cover the rising electricity costs, our prices still remain competitive to other groomers in the area.

Since opening Top Dog in 2005 the price of a Shih Tzu has gone up by £7, we only increase the price when absolutely necessary.

FLEAS 🦗

Just a reminder to keep up to date with flea treatments. If we see live fleas on an animal we have to charge an extra £10 on top of any treatment they are in for.

This £10 covers:

- A flea shampoo for your dog, this only kills any live fleas on the dog at the time. This is not a treatment. It helps prevent the spread between other customers in the parlour.

- The parlour flea spray. We have to treat the parlour every time we get a case, this is to ensure all live fleas and eggs are killed to prevent spread.

Top tips to remember:

- Alternate flea treatments. Some fleas become immune to the same treatment every month, so swapping between 2-3 good ones will ensure they stay effective.

- Always hoover before flea spraying, the vibrations will cause the eggs to hatch this means the spray will be more effective and the cycle cannot continue.

- Wash all bedding your dog or cat goes on.

- Cats are carriers of fleas so please treat your cat as well.

- Hoover and flea spray your cars even if your dog does not go in there, people can carry them on their clothes back and forth.

- Hedgehogs are also carriers of fleas if you have frequent visits from them perhaps feed them in an area of the garden you can limit your dog or cat going to.

- When visiting others and taking your dog, make sure your dogs and their dogs treatments are up to date and effective.

- Flea sprays that say they last 12 months do not, a household spray needs to be used for every time your dog or cat gets fleas to kill the cycle.
