After an unfortunate incident just before Christmas the vets realised Jacks heart murmur had increased from grade 1/2.

Today Jack had a heart scan to see how far this has progressed. The heart scan showed Jack has mitral heart disease, grade 3 borderline grade 4.

We are having a little experiment with his meds to determine how many tablets he needs to manage his condition as one particular tablet knocks hell out of the kidneys. It is a progressive disease and he will eventually end up on the other tablet but it’s best to wait until he needs it before adding it into his medication regime.

The bad news is Jack is not going to be the first dog that lives forever but the good news is he will get away with murder and be spoiled rotten as per usual.

We know our vets bills have gone through the roof in the last few years and we do not dispute that the team do amazing work but are suppliers or the practice owners getting carried away with their prices.

The CMA has launched a review into the veterinary services market for household pets.
