Case from this week, hunter with a large deep sub-solar abscess, tracking under the sole. Vet was first to the horse digging out the site. Horse was very tender with a very soft sensitive area in the toe, unable to keep any poultice on longer than an hour, made and fitted a hospital plate to protect and keep the area clean which can be easily repacked every other day. Be back out with the hounds in no time 🙌🏼

Been a busy time of late! Not had chance to post much, especially after receiving results from passing my Diploma HE (higher education) course at Myerscough (UCLAN University)

I sat the exam in May, It was a two year course covering modern materials, handmade bar shoes and anotomy and physiology.
With both a theoretical/oral examination and a practical exam, alongside multiple written assignments, juggling that with work and family time was always going to be a task be we made it 😂👊🏼

Thanks to all who helped me along the way to achieve this…… let’s see where we go next 🤔

Job from this morning,
horse with a negative hoof pastern axis (HPA) made more comfortable with the use of a pair of 3 degree 3D half mesh pads.
Used in conjunction with dental impression material and copper sulphate crystals to support the Palmer aspect of the foot with anti bacterial properties to avoid any unwanted infections.
This enables support to the bony column whilst realignment of the HPA, these pads help maintain frog position relative to other structures of the hoof.
