***WE ARE CLOSED***

Hello everyone!

Those closest to the business already know that we've temporarily closed our doors. It's still undecided just how temporary it will be. This was not an easy decision, but I do want to emphasize that the choice was entirely my own, my hand was not forced.

Life is changing a lot for me at the moment (for the better!) and so I made the difficult decision late last year to "close" the business for the foreseeable as I can't juggle everything at once. Some aspects of my "new life" can't coexist with the business.

Being "Chasing Squirrels" over the last 5 years has been incredible. I've learnt so much and will forever be grateful for the experience. I've loved being my own boss and have loved meeting you and all of your dogs even more so!

This isn't goodbye, this is ta-ta for now ❤️

I've been using this app for over a year now. You collect points for walking your dog! It's great! I've been spending the "rewards" mostly on Tesco and Amazon so can confirm it's legit. You choose how much information you put in about your dogs so they are never at risk. That was my main concern obviously! If you install the app via this link - we both get points for you joining. Wow. There aren't enough words in the dictionary to describe this past year. Thank you to everyone who supported us throughout our start up period after relocating. It has been wonderful meeting so many new doggos (and their owners too!)

Please follow the instructions for each and every visit you make to us.

We have CCTV which I sometimes happen to check at the perfect time and spot you before you even leave you car. You'll know if I did as I'll be waiting for you!

Please also note: If you arrive early you will have to wait longer. Before I can open that gate, every dog must be separated and secured. If you arrive at the agreed time, then this will already have been done and I can come straight out to you with/without your dog as required.

They had a lovely time exploring new places and finding new smells. After gaining knowledge recently about sexing animals, I was also able to confirm that Layla is in fact a girl after the breeder couldn't identify her. I clipped their nails too so they wouldn't leave so many scratches on their owners!

Our 2024 diary is also *OPEN* (beginning Monday 8th January) but please note - we will be switching to seasonal Boarding, meaning we only Board May-August.

Excuse the soppy post but this was so much more than a holiday. It was the first time I saw the girls really let loose. They came across so many new things, from sheep, cows and donkeys to the beach, chicken nuggets (!!!) and the humble static caravan!! To make our time even more special, I also got some life changing news that I will be sharing as soon as I'm able. We had an amazing time. I will forever treasure these memories. 💚

☀️☀️☀️Just a note to anyone protecting their animals this week in the heat☀️☀️☀️

If you look at your weather app you will see that the hottest point of the day isn't until 16:00. I think the average person would assume the hottest point of the day is midday so don't be caught out.

Be sure not to walk your dogs above 24°C and if you have any animals living outside make sure they are in the shade and have plenty of cooling equipment (cool mats, damp rags, cold water bottles/bowls, hydrating snacks like cucumber).

When it comes to dog walking, it's a better idea to get out as early as possible rather than leaving it until later because the heat will still be around in the evening and the ground will definitely still be hot/warm, especially concrete.

Yesterday I got my answer for the recent pain in my hands/wrists. "De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis" (linked to Tendonitis). Both hands. Current treatment is to wear splints 24/7 for 4-6 weeks and avoid further strain where possible...

As some of you know, I live with chronic pain in my hips, therefore, being in pain is something I'm used to. Because of this, I generally have a "grin and bear it" attitude.

While that attitude gets me through each day, it also means I sometimes ignore pain in order to just get on with the task at hand (no pun intended). Unfortunately this means that when I've got multiple leads wrapped around my wrists with dogs pulling on them, although I have the dogs under my control, they are still putting crazy pressure on the tendons and clearly the tendons are not happy about it!

Can I please suggest that if you don't already spend time training your dog to walk nicely on a lead, you start to do so now.

Not just for my sake. Training your dog benefits your dog, your dog care provider and yourself!
