Neonicotinoids - or bee killing pesticides
They were previously banned through the EU but sadly sneaking back into Britain.
They not only kill bees and other insects, harm wild life and cause human health diseases like cancer and Parkinson's Disease, they also heavily pollute our waterways -
but did you know this is exactly what is in your dogs flea treatment?
I didn't until recently.
Apparently these flea treatments on our dogs and cats are also partly to blame for the pollution of water ways.
It also made me think about the long term effect to our pets. It really can't be good. So......

I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas and the four legged family members enjoyed their toys and treats.
A little warning re dog toys -
I have a private message from someone who received a gift of a soft dog toy, warning me that there is stuffing inside that could be a potential choking hazard. For some reason I was unable to reply to them so I am doing a message to all.
There is fluffy white stuffing in most soft dog toys sold worldwide, particularly the Christmas themed ones - and also a small plastic squeaker. Soft toys have no chance against dogs teeth so if they decide they want that thing shredded it will take no time at all. The toys are designed with that in mind and have no real safety laws in place unlike a child's toy for example.
Please ALWAYS supervise your dog while they kill their toys. If you are lucky they may just carry them around or cuddle them in bed but the majority of dogs will tear them apart and they need to be watched carefully. Enjoy the holidays :)
We are open as usual but close 3pm New Years Day and closed 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

We have had to review the price of our self service dog wash. It was £9.99 but will now be £12.50.
Unfortunately out electric bill from the dog bath heating up and washer/dryer has jumped up £540!
We also have to pay VAT on the service charge so the amount made is actually only £7.99. Staff clean the room and wash the towels and British Gas rob us shamefully after that :(

As you may have heard, the council have thrown out the petition that over 4500 of you signed. It was because an individual name wasn't on it as opposed to a group. They are going to ignore it! Despite their email acknowledgement of receipt! You can't make it up.
What can you do? Please fill out the last chance we have got to have a say - The draft Traffic Order. This is the last step where the council have to consult residents.

Reunited - well done to the children who stayed with the dog unti it’s owner came.

A customer has seen this dog wandering around at the bottom of The Lodge, and cannot see the owner.
If anyone knows the owner can you please let him know.

It's not a great day for a walk unless you can stuff them in the car - Your dogrobe and the dog! That's exactly what I done. Drove to the beach, walked with head down then bandaged them up in their robes before they got back in the car. Dry by the time we got home. My favourite product for a reason :)

The recruitment department 😁at Barker & Bone are now searching for a new member of the team.
The lovely Anne who has been here from the very first opening day 4 years ago is leaving us to retire.
We are looking for someone energetic and enthusiastic to work Monday, Friday and every other Saturday.
Full training, £11 per hour for 3 months then £12 thereafter.

For those of you who didn't make it to the concert tonight, I announced the winner of the Coronation Decoration Competition for the Businesses in the town centre.
First, can I congratulate all who took the time to take part. Thank you for all of the work, and for brightening up the Town Centre.
Second, the results.
Highly Commended (in no particular order) were :-
SO&CO, Gilson Gray, Rock & Bird, Greens & Blues, Co-op Funeral Care, and Cancer Research.

The standard was very high, and the final decision was difficult. Well Done all.
