**Important Notice**

At Hound & Co, we work so hard to ensure every dog has the best experience possible. We have built up a 5* reputation in Norwich which we are so proud of.

We are currently facing challenges with customers not adhering to appointment times, including arriving early for their appointments, asking us to complete the groom by a certain time or coming to collect their dogs without waiting for our call or text notification. While we understand that these actions may be intended to help, they actually disrupt our process and can negatively impact the grooming experience for your dog.

Additionally, it puts a massive amount of pressure on myself and the staff. I’ve always tried my best to accommodate everyone, but this is usually at the expense of my own lunch break.

Unfortunately, I have recently been treated for stomach ulcers - the lack of lunch breaks mixed with general business stress has started to take its toll. I’m under STRICT instructions from my doctor to improve this!

To prioritise my health and provide the best care going forward, we will now require between 2-4 hours for each dog. This time allows for essential breaks:
- **Arrival**: 10-15 minutes to relax before grooming begins.
- **Post-Bath**: 10-30 minutes of rest before styling.
- **Post-Grooming**: 15 minutes of downtime before collection.

During this time, we may also need to attend to other customers, clean up accidents, or give extra attention to dogs who are having an off day etc. Arriving early for appointments or to collect your dog without notification can lead to unfinished grooming and potential accidents due to the dog's excitement. Dog grooming is a delicate and demanding job that requires a calm environment for both the groomer and the dog.

From now on, if you arrive early for your appointment, please wait patiently or take your dog for a walk until their scheduled time. We will not be available until the allotted time.

Please wait for our call or text to inform you that your dog is ready for pickup. Please do not turn up unannounced. If you do need your dog ready by a certain time, please tell us at least 3 days in advance so we can plan the day accordingly.

🐾 Dog sitter recommendations 🐾

I was wondering if any of our lovely clients had any dog sitter recommendations?!

I’m getting married in Spain next year and looking for a home away from home with someone trustworthy to look after my boy Finley from the 6th-15th June 2025.

He’s a bit of an old, loveable sod 😂😂. He will be 10 next year and really does just love to sleep all day. He’s a classic beagle and will steal food from coffee tables etc if given half a chance. He gets on with some dogs but not all so an only pet household or someone with a pet he can meet beforehand would be ideal (you know within 5 minutes whether he gets on with a dog or not)

Someone familiar with beagles should find him very easy as he will sleep most of the day and provide the best cuddles in the evening ❤️. He’s also crate trained at night.

I’d like to do several practice visits over the next year to make sure he’s happy 🐾

Hours: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9-5:30pm

We have an exciting opportunity for a part time receptionist to join the Hound&Co team. This job is a dog lovers dream - there are endless amounts of puppy cuddles!

The job role will include, but is not limited to:
- Providing a warm and friendly reception service to customers
- Seeing dogs in and out and taking payments
- Answering the phone
- Keeping on top of messages & enquiries.
- All salon admin
- Managing staff clock ins and holiday requests
- Making and distributing social media & marketing content
- Cleaning and keeping the salon presentable
- Occasionally assist with bathing if needed.
- Ordering stock

We are looking for someone who is:
- Warm, friendly and approachable.
- Passionate about dogs
- Good with technology
- Literate
- Happy to speak on the phone
- Creative
- Able to create social media content

Due to one of our wonderful groomers reducing her hours, we are looking for an experienced dog groomer to join our fantastic team!

About Hound & Co:
Hound & Co is a luxury pet grooming boutique in the heart of Norwich, specialising in delivering high quality pet grooming to the highest of standards.
We are passionate about ensuring all pets and their owners have a positive experience and we strive to build trust and confidence during every visit.

Hours:
Full or part time, minimum of 3 days, maximum 5 days per week 9:30am-5:30pm

Salary:
To be discussed, dependant upon experience.

Start date:
Approx 28th May 2024.

Requirements:
* Preferably hold a Level 3 qualification certificate/diploma in dog grooming
* Have a minimum of 18 months experience grooming professionally.
* Must be passionate about dogs and always remain kind and patient.
* Must be able to groom to a high standard and have a good attention to detail.
* Remain willing to learn and improve.
* Be able to communicate with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
* Must be able to work within a team.

VAT PRICE INCREASE - PLEASE READ ‼️

I would like to begin this post by celebrating how much Hound & Co has grown since we opened our doors in January 2023 🙌.

We are currently celebrating taking on our 4th team member and have made huge progress with our extensive salon renovations, including finishing our purpose built nervous dog suite! We have also added teeth cleaning and cat grooming to our services and have been blown away by the demand; so much so that we are in the process of creating another purpose built treatment room! 🤩

As a result of our success, Hound & Co has had to become VAT registered. This milestone marks a significant step in our journey, allowing us to better serve you while complying with tax regulations.📈✏️

What does this mean for you?

Unfortunately, as the VAT threshold is based off turnover and NOT profit (a common misconception), we have had no choice but to add a 20% increase onto all services.

Trust me, it’s equally frustrating for us as this is passed entirely to HMRC!

Our VAT increase will come into effect from 15th April 2024.

We hope you can support us through this milestone so we can carry on doing what we do best, helping your pets 😇 🐾

It’s always very sad when any of my customers pass over the rainbow bridge but this one really knocked me for six…

Smudge has been with me from the start. The second photo was her first groom with me in 2017 in my mobile dog grooming van (the real OG’s will remember!)

I wasn’t the best groomer back then, however Smudge’s owner has very kindly followed me everywhere ever since - my van, Wymondham, Thorpe and finally Hound & Co.

She was a name I always looked forward to seeing in the diary. She was a sensitive soul and didn’t always appreciate the company of other dogs, but once she trusted you she would do anything for you. She taught me so much I am absolutely gutted to find out she passed away earlier this week at the grand old age of 13.

It really is the worst part of the job, however getting to know your four-legged family members really is a privilege.

🐾DOG GROOMING APPRENTICESHIP VACANCY 🐾

Tillie will be finishing her apprenticeship in March so im looking for a hard working individual to train from scratch again. 🐾

You must be hard working, on time, and passionate about learning/ progressing.

The job is amazing and working with dogs is so rewarding. Most days we have the best time in the salon although please be aware it can also be mentally and physically draining. You will be dealing with urine, feaces, vomit, a**l glands etc. All of us here have been urinated on at some point or another and I will expect you to be able to laugh it off and remain professional. You CANNOT be squeamish.

I’d prefer to offer some work experience first to check the candidate realises the good, the bad and the ugly parts of the job.

If you are dedicated and 100% committed I will teach you to be an amazing groomer. The photo below is what Tillie can achieve on her own after 9 months with us 🙌

The hours are 9-5:30 Monday to Friday. The wage is the National Apprenticeship minimum wage.

We can’t believe we are approaching our 1st Birthday! What a fantastic year it has been 😇.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that Sophia will be on annual leave from the 11th March - 2nd April.

Tillie, Dovile and Katie are all available to book in with and will do all do a fabulous job of looking after your pets whilst Sophia is away.

Bobby’s Christmas Groom 🎅🏻🎄

Oscar being the perfect model for a TikTok this afternoon! He is such a gorgeous boy with a temperament to match 😍

A bit of a different post today, This morning, me and Finley had our first Mantrailing/tracking training session in the cool woodland. Even though Finley is technically classed as a ‘working breed’, he has never been the type of dog that I believed wanted to work. He loves a good old sniff on a walk but generally won’t ever do anything for anyone unless there is a treat or two involved. After having a few behavioural issues appear, I had a chat with Daryll Pleasants, a very reputable dog trainer from Animals saving animals. He suggested he may really thrive from man trailing/tracking to keep him stimulated. I was sceptical, but Finley took to it like a duck to water. We made it easy for him at first but soon we started to challenge him more. He smashed every single one of the tracks and found me in my hiding spots every single time. As you can see from his ‘beagle bay’, he really started to get to grips with the job and was extremely keen to get going. A 100 metre track is the equivalent to a kilometre walk, so Finley is now enjoying a well deserved snooze in front of the fan. I would highly recommend!
