🩸Happy Friday The 13th!🩸

Just a personal insight that I’m a HUGE horror fan! Many of the classic of Friday the 13th, Halloween etc etc. The more cheesy and from the 70’s & 80’s the better. If you get stuck on a pub quiz question,give me a call.

Anyways,today is Friday 13th so I’ll be watching a few of these classics after work (even though I’ve watched them a million times before!). What’s your favourite horror movie?

📻Greatest Hits Radio-Dog Bite Prevention! 📻

Tune in on Thursday between 6am-12pm where will be discussing how to identify early signs of anxiety and stress in dogs that can lead to helping prevent potential dog bites.

This comes at a time when the NHS is seeing a rise in admissions of people with dog related injuries. Rehoming centres are seeing an increase in demand for services as owners look to relinquish their pets.

Since the start of 2024 a quarter of all hand over enquires from owners mentioned their dog showing unwanted behaviours was a factor in their decision to rehome their dog 🐾

🌳 Favourite Places-Marriotts Way🌳

Marriott’s Way is a 26 mile footpath, bridleway and cycle route which follows the routes of two disused railway lines, running between Aylsham and Norwich.

The route is named after the chief engineer and manager of the Midland and Great Northern Railway system William Marriott. The dogs love exploring this old track. So much to sniff and explore.

This is one of the best feelings working with dogs. Today I was over the park with Molly and I recognised a little cutie in the distance. It was non other than tiny Bella who we walk on Tuesdays. Safe to say she didn’t want to leave once she recognised us..melts the heart and we love you too 💖xx

📚 Back To School-Are You Ready?📚

It’s nearly time for the kiddos to go back to school and here at Fetch,September is our busy month as people return from their holidays and return to work,school etc.

Please ensure that you request your bookings well in advance as spaces are limited each day and although we never want to say no,our walking legs can only do so much. Unless someone has a cloning machine we can borrow,that would be awesome!

🐾Stop The Press: Pet Abduction Act!🐾

This morning we collaborated with ITV Anglia about the new Pet Abduction Act 2024 which came into play last week. A long time coming too!

Research from Direct Line Pet Insurance suggests that 2,290 dogs were reported stolen in 2023, equivalent to six animals a day.

But until now,abduction of a pet was considered theft of property (such as a mobile phone, bikes etc) and the legal measures fell under the 1968 Theft Act. We welcome this act with open paws as we know all too well how precious our fur kids are to us.

So stay tuned this week on Anglia News for our interview where we discuss this new legislation and how you can help protect your dog even further.

🐾 Rossi The Human Trainer🐾

Mr Rossi has been very helpful this week by training ME! He even wanted to wear the training whistle round his neck to look extra professional. Training skills this week included:

1) Teaching Damion to ‘wait’ whilst I inspect other dogs bums. You wait for me hooman!

2) Teaching Damion to ‘sit’ as he ties his shoes. This involved me knocking him over to ensure he sat down fully on his butt. Then cover him with slobber.

3) Teaching Damion to ‘come’ to me when I decided to stop,inspect,lick and nearly eat a dead pigeon. He ran QUICKLY to me! Good hooman!

4) Teaching Damion to ‘spin’ as I decided to zoomie like a loony, tying his legs together on my lead in the process.

🌈 Sleep Easy Mr Harry xx🌈

This is the part of working with dogs that we find the most difficult as we love them so much and they fulfil our lives in so many ways. But today we have to say goodbye to the true 14 year old gentleman that is Harry.

We were taking Harry on some gentle strolls in his final few years and the whole team ADORED him. We will always hold our adventures dear and close to our hearts. There is always something so precious about caring for a senior dog. Although the body is aged,his mind was just as enthusiastic to come out on a ‘sniffari’ with us.

I will always remember our walks around the block,waking him up when we arrived and most of all,having some cuddles and holding his paws as he went back to sleep for a snooze.

Thank you to his mumma Sarah for allowing us to love and care for your boy in his final few years. He truly was a gentle soul and you gave him the BEST life he could have had.

The memories of this precious boy will last forever. Rest easy dude,love you 🐾💙

🐾SMART GOALS: Planning For Training Success🐾

When training your dog it is advisable to always think SMART. This means that your goals are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. Goals that meet this criteria will keep you on track to success whilst stretching your dog’s skills. Here’s an example:

🐶Specific:
Your goal should be clear so you feel motivated in working towards this goal. This could be a goal to teach your dog to sit and wait for their food.

🐶Measurable:
You need to be able to measure success and the journey. This could be videos,training diaries etc.

🐶Achievable:
Make sure the training goals are achievable for your dog. Think about what barriers you may encounter that could prevent you from successfully completing this training goal.

🐶Relevant:
Your goal should be worthwhile, match the efforts/needs of the dog and be something you and your dog care about.

🐶Time Bound:
Set a deadline for you and your dog to potential achieve this goal. If you don’t fully achieve it,it doesn’t matter. It just gives you a time/date to work towards
