Positions with the lad this morning. It’s taken some time for him to master, but with the dedication from his human he’s doing this beautifully with his own added uniqueness that I absolutely love!! ❤️ Good lad K 😊
Sausage hold
Training doesn’t always have to be serious or have a specific end goal. Rainy days stuck inside waiting for deliveries can be perfect for teaching stuff for absolutely no reason…but they’re still learning 😊
Foraging
A new face in the field this morning. This girly has only been in her new home since Wednesday afternoon so there was no ‘training’ just mooching and chatting. She has come from a 5 star home to live in a new 5 star home. Gorgeous, beautifully raised, exceptionally well bred and already stealing the hearts of her new family - and the last of the blackberries 🤫😊 I look forward to getting to know her
Hoopers
A snippet of the lovely Jacko this morning. He’s not new to sports but relatively new to Hoopers (in field time rather than calendar time) and he’s absolutely smashing it! Really watching for the ‘cues’ and using his listening ears 😊. These guys are going to smash this year. CHW is a non competitive organisation with progress levels - but if these head out to compete I’ll be their No1 supporter!
Recalls
3rd session today for this fantastic lad. He’s recently had an onset of adolescence deafness with his recalls. Rather than waiting for it to become a problem his humans brought him in. With popping on a long line to keep him out of trouble and some tweaks in timing and watching body language and adding an emergency stop he’s absolutely smashing it! The work put in between sessions always shows! 👏👏👏👏
Scentwork
The amazing Barnie doing what he loves the most and using his amazing nose. The awful music is very fitting for him as it’s titled “fox in the field” 😅
Tracking
Sometimes we are blessed to meet people “who just can”
This young lady is one of those few. This was the intro to tracking day and it’s my dog who has never been handled on lead by anyone else before. I put food on the track to help with speed and handling but I don’t think I needed to! I’ve watched so many times as her handling is so calm, understanding with beautiful timing…Fantastic Miss M
😊
I think a huge criticism of reward based trainers is that dogs don’t learn because we’re ’bribing them to do stuff’
Were these positions taught with food? Absolutely
Has there ever been any compulsion used? Absolutely not
And as I’m stood behind her there are clearly no extra cues for each position.
What ever level of precision you’re looking for teaching with food and toys the behaviour can be taught. Not forced 😊
How to turn of for school - crazy Collie style. Incoming!!!! 😂
How to turn up for school - crazy Collie style….Incoming!!! 😂
Warning. Rewards were used in the making of this video
A bit of practice for the orange one 😊
I realise I’ve been very Hoopers focused in recent posts…
This is an old video but showing that ignoring distraction odours (from the tasty bin) is totally achievable.
1-2-1 scent and indication sessions available
After only one class I take zero credit for this!!
Little Rolo at 16 weeks acing his loose lead walking practice…
Putting all the work in at this age really is invaluable and he’s a lucky lad to have the most dedicated human.
Looking forward to seeing his progress and having to up my game to keep up with their practice!!!
