We are seeking the public’s help after a woman and her dog were hit by a car.

The collision happened at the junction of Annesley Road and St Mary’s Drive in Hucknall at around 3.30pm on Wednesday (9 October).

The woman was taken to hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening but could be life-altering.

The dog was badly injured and sadly had to be put to sleep following the collision.

The driver stopped but then left the scene without exchanging any details with the injured woman. She has since come forward and spoken to officers.

As part of the investigation, our officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision and are also asking for any motorists who were in the area around the time of the incident to check their dashcam footage and to come forward if they have captured the incident or its aftermath.

PC Kirsty Woodhead said: “The incident happened opposite a Tesco Express and is likely to have been witnessed by anyone entering or leaving the shop. It’s possible you have may have dashcam footage that captures the incident.

“Please check your dashcam and come forward if you have information that could assist our investigation.

“Likewise, if you saw what happened and have any information that may be relevant to our inquiries, please call us on 101 quoting incident number 472 of 9 October 2024, or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

Lincolnshire visited Nottinghamshire this weekend…I’m very blessed to know such lovely people and (hopefully 🫢) call them my friends. These guys are training with a fabulous local trainer to them but called in to practice in a new environment. The poodles aced it! And we were so very British drinking tea and chatting whilst ignoring the rain 😂

Training doesn’t always have to be serious or have a specific end goal. Rainy days stuck inside waiting for deliveries can be perfect for teaching stuff for absolutely no reason…but they’re still learning 😊

A new face in the field this morning. This girly has only been in her new home since Wednesday afternoon so there was no ‘training’ just mooching and chatting. She has come from a 5 star home to live in a new 5 star home. Gorgeous, beautifully raised, exceptionally well bred and already stealing the hearts of her new family - and the last of the blackberries 🤫😊 I look forward to getting to know her

My first thought was to delete the email. I'm not a fan of Graeme Hall. I've watched a few episodes of his show, and in my opinion, he seems to make things up as he goes along, relying on outdated training methods.

However, I was puzzled. Was the “cravat” unwell, and they needed a stand-in? I'm a nobody – why on earth would they want to film me training a dog when there are so many high-profile trainers out there? Curiosity got the better of me, so I decided to give the researcher a call.

I'm still in shock as I write this. The researcher explained that they wanted to invite me to Lytham with my Border Collie to "demonstrate" to Graeme Hall how I would train my dog not to respond to a phone ringtone.

Graeme would then take my training method and use it to teach the Border Collie of the family seeking help – all while filming it for his TV show!

WTF 😳😳😳

I decided to dig a bit deeper and reached out to the force-free dog training community to see if anyone else had experienced something this bizarre.

It turns out that many trainers had also been asked to attend filming sessions to show Graeme how to train dogs before the cameras rolled. Most reported that they refused because of his methods, but a few had shown him and his team how to train a dog, only to be dismissed without any credit for their expertise.

I then did some open-source research on "The Country’s Best Dog Trainer," as the *Daily Telegraph* calls him. He has no formal training in canine behaviour or training. He’s essentially winging it with the help of whatever trainers are willing to show up and assist him.

According to his website, he charges £875 per session 🤔😧

Now I’m not someone who normally criticises other trainers. I prefer to let my clients decide if I’m the right trainer for them based on how I work with their dogs.

However, I couldn’t let this pass without making it public knowledge.

If you're looking for a dog trainer, please avoid this programme and this man. You have no idea whose techniques he’ll be using week to week, and given that most qualified and accredited trainers want nothing to do with him, the quality of training you’ll receive is questionable at best.

Instead, do your own research and find a local trainer who aligns with your own dog training ethics. Organisations such as The IMDT or APDT - Association of Pet Dog Trainers can help guide you to qualified & accredited trainers in your area.

A snippet of the lovely Jacko this morning. He’s not new to sports but relatively new to Hoopers (in field time rather than calendar time) and he’s absolutely smashing it! Really watching for the ‘cues’ and using his listening ears 😊. These guys are going to smash this year. CHW is a non competitive organisation with progress levels - but if these head out to compete I’ll be their No1 supporter!

3rd session today for this fantastic lad. He’s recently had an onset of adolescence deafness with his recalls. Rather than waiting for it to become a problem his humans brought him in. With popping on a long line to keep him out of trouble and some tweaks in timing and watching body language and adding an emergency stop he’s absolutely smashing it! The work put in between sessions always shows! 👏👏👏👏

Judging by the noise out there tonight nobody is sparing a thought 😞

I’ve seen some awful comments on various posts regarding fireworks and dogs and that “snowflakes” ought to just stop spoiling the fun for others (not how the comments were worded!). I don’t think organised displays should be stopped as they can be prepared for...
However it’s not just the animals that suffer! We can’t comprehend what the veterans go through every single day without the added trauma of fireworks that go on for weeks at all times of day and night.
