✨Golden Valley Equestrian centre Clinics✨

I’m going to be putting in some dates for clinics at the wonderful facilities at Golden Valley in the very near future…😃

Trip to the stunning Thoresby Park on Friday with 🩶Holly Bean 🩶 in the Novice.

After queuing to get towed on I did wonder what type of day we were in for 😳 but BEDE events had done a fabulous job again of getting the ground as good as possible keeping the show on the road so massive thanks to those guys 😃👍.

Holly has decided that dressage needs spicing up now and we should just move onto the jumping phases 🙈😂 so after a tense test with a small tantrum in the middle we managed a 32.8 dressage then DC with just time leaving us in 6th place! ✨

It’s her first bigger event so having a bit more exposure on the XC was just what we needed!! Super chuffed with her, she’s loving her job making for an exciting season ahead!! 🤩🩶🐎

Awesome time at Barrowcliffe xc last weekend with both ponies for a play on the grass 😃! It was really rewarding to see how much their confidence has grown taking on a few more technical lines. It’s a really fabulous facility!

David as always was a legend getting so much footage for me to analyse later 🤓😂..

With the cost of living and competition fees it’s just not viable for me to compete two horses right now… 😕

Whilst Holly is getting some competition exposure under her belt I’m chipping away training still with Benji in the background.

He’s taken a lot of time to grow into his frame and having always been a big gangly boy he still needs to get stronger.

Training is far from perfect but that’s why it’s training! It’s the time to identify new issues, work on existing issues and build on the good things. Sometimes you need to switch up your approach to find what works best in terms of enjoyment and progress. It isn’t one box fits all in terms of approach and it’s important for us to recognise this.

He is definitely learning how to use his body more effectively. Starting to have a play around over some different fences you can see he’s really trying and enjoying his job which is all I can ask for 🧡..

Well I’ve being buying pictures again 🙈🤷🏻‍♀️….

Feeling very lucky to have got two runs under our belt in a row with the recent weather 🌧️!! Another positive outing overall yesterday with ✨🩶 Holly Bean 🩶 ✨in the Novice at Lincolnshire 😃..

She was definitely quite excited to be out again so I did my best to contain her energy 🐎 through her test for a competitive 31.3. In the show jumping I don’t feel I’ve been riding my best resulting in a pole down. I’m my own worse critic so i’ll be studying my footage to try and learn from it 🤓..

XC she felt amazing, really taking the course on with confidence, lots of twisting combinations so I came back absolutely buzzing 🤩🩶!!!

Next stop Thoresby Park at the end of the month🤞😃

It was 🧡Benji’s🧡 turn today to go to a party! After we got back from Oasby last night he was proper put out not to have been out.. Despite the rain we ventured up to Swingate very kindly hosted by the Blant’s for a day with the . Benji absolutely loved being out again, few fab pics from the day thanks 👍

First run of the season at Oasby in the Novice with 🩶 Holly Beano 🩶. It’s fair to say we felt a bit rusty with it being a struggle to get out on the grass or XC schooling! After our prep the night before on the flat I was sure we were in for diva show as she’s going through another phase of she knows best adding in a bit of freestyle 🙈😂. I was pleasantly surprised to come out joint second in the section with a 29 so a positive start!!

We managed a double clear with some planned time faults XC dropping us down to 7th. Couldn’t be happier with her, she’s a true partner, I trust her 100%. She’s a superstar 🦄🩶!

It’s fair to say the last week has had its challenges!! After our lorry died last weekend on the A46 we limped off at the next junction near Leicester 😭. The old “switch it on and off again” failed us 🙁 and the horses had to be recovered (which was thankfully not too traumatic). The team was very helpful and I was very grateful to have them on their way home to safety whilst I waited for the lorry to be checked 🩶🧡…

I was in two minds what to do this weekend with it being our final couple of weeks event prep before the start of the season at Oasby 🤷🏻‍♀️🤔.

After a bit of research I took the plunge and hired a 3.5t lorry for the day so I didn’t have to withdraw from Vale View combined training today. It’s always a bit alien driving a strange vehicle but I got the run down and with the fab service at I was away!

Just as I was leaving David called to say poor Betty our small spaniel puppy had gone missing out on a walk 😳. After a big search she eventually found her way home 💓 all ok thankfully 😅!! That of course left me quite late leaving for Vale View but I decided I was still going to try and make it happen so after a quick call they very kindly dropped me to the back of the class to allow me to compete still!

It was a good day in the end with 🌟🩶Holly Beano 🩶🌟 putting out a 33 dressage followed by a super clear SJ in the Novice/1.10m class to pick up 4th 🤩. Holly is my horse of a lifetime, she enjoyed her day out in the new lorry, little adventure with mum 💕..

Time to blow away the competition cobwebs & try to get “event ready”!! Quick trip to Golden Valley BS today with 🩶Holly Beano🩶 for a jump round the 1.05m where we had the first fence 🙈 but improved after this for a nice round followed by a double clear in the newcomers for🥈 🤩. What a superstar she is 💕.

Well that’s a wrap for the 2023 Event Season with no final run at Norton!!

After his recovery 🧡 Benji 🧡 got out for the late part of the season running at BE100. It took us a while to get back to form building his strength. The plan for his winter training now is some trail hunting & show jumping 😁.

Goal achieved to get up to Novice with 🩶Holly Bean 🩶 💪😃🥳. It definitely felt like quite a jump from BE100!! Lots of experience and confidence gained with some steady runs this season with lots more still to work on. She’s now having a bit of down time before we start building up for 2024.

Massive thank you to Emma Jablonski Emma Jablonski for your help on the flat and Kirsty Hardstaff for your help with the jumping. David Hind for being my rock and greatest support!! It’s greatly appreciated 😁 and I really couldn’t do it without you!! Looking forward to winter training ahead of 2024 season!

The ☀️sun is was out at Oasby yesterday 😁 for most of the day thankfully!!

☘️🩶Holly Bean 🩶☘️ produced a nice relaxed test to score a very competitive 29.5 in the Novice followed by another planned steady double clear 😃. We are focused on just getting some good mileage under our belts for this season, she’s really starting to feel confident around the novice tracks..

☘️🧡Benji 🧡☘️ busted out a 32 dressage, also competitive in his section. SJ is very much a work in progress, he likes to chip in a stride so lots of work trying to keep him travelling forwards. Much more fluent round just taking the last fence after I got a bit impatient 🙈.. Finishing with a confident clear XC. It’s taken us a while to get back to form, he’s starting to feel much stronger now 💪🧡.

Last run next week for the season..

Good day at Askham Bryan ODE yesterday.
☘️🧡Benji produced a consistent test for 30 with a much more relaxed SJ and just an unlucky pole followed by a nice steady clear XC in the BE100.

☘️🤍 Holly Bean was a bit of a diva in her test producing a 29.8 followed be a super double clear in the Novice. As planned for the rest of the season a steady XC, lots more to come next season 😁.

Couple more runs left now at Oasby & Norton to finish our season…

A trip to the beautiful Allerton Park on Saturday for both ponies. It’s only our second visit but I really do love it.

🌟🩶 Holly Beano 🩶🌟had a run in the novice. We scored a 33 in the dressage after picking up an error as I had a total mental blank so not our best test 🙈. She followed it up with a strong SJ round after a bit of a stressful warm up adding an unlucky pole at the 3rd and a lovely steady clear XC landing just inside the top 10.

🌟🧡Benji🧡🌟 was in the BE100. His dressage is continuously improving for a 29.8 which was very competitive in his section. SJ is again improving although we just got in a bit of a pickle to roll two poles followed by a steady confidence clear XC.

Massive thank you to Sally & Richard for coming to help me for the day whilst David was on puppy duty!! Some very fancy quarter marks to!!

It was a lovely 2:20am start today, first on the lorry park 😳!! Not quite the day we hoped for though. It all seemed a bit surreal initially and now I just feel really gutted to have let Holly down..

Today we went to Frickley for the Brigante Cup Championship which Holly qualified for on an ad hoc Epworth run earlier in the year. Benji also ran in the 100 ODE.

Running dressage then cross country to define a reverse order for show jumping Holly led the 100 section on a 29.5 dressage all the way through to the final phase. Running both horses together at 100 with low numbers in the sections left times very tight between rounds meaning I had no time to walk the final penultimate show jumping round for Holly where there were some changes. Arriving with under 10 mins to warm up being the last to show jump I was briefed on the changes but it wasn’t clear a fence I jumped in the first round with Benji had been removed. Clear until this point 2 fences from home I jumped the fence that had been taken out resulting in immediate elimination. Just like that it was all over 🥺… Overall it’s with me to know the course so it sits with me but I’m truly sorry to have let her down. She’s a superstar and I’m incredibly lucky to have her.. 🌟🩶Holly Bean🩶🌟🥰.

To bring some positive news to the day, 🧡Benji🧡 jumped a double clear after a slight excited/tense dressage with a few time faults cross country to pick up 4th 😊. He’s starting to get back into the swing of things now and it’s really lovely to see him looking so well after the journey we had ❤️.

☘️🧡Benji🧡 did his first BE100 of the season doing a lovely test for 29 followed by a couple of green poles and then a confident clear XC. Lots more to come with him as he gets stronger..😃

☘️🩶Holly Beano🩶 was doing the Novice putting in a very competitive test for 30.3 with a clear SJ. Three fences from home we had an honest run out at a skinny she just didn’t see XC. On representing she popped it no issue so whilst I’m gutted we picked up our first 20 penalties we all need these little reminders sometimes to be on our game!! Onwards and upwards!!

Back out Eventing yesterday at Eland Lodge ODE in the 100. 🩶Holly Bean 🩶continued to be very happy to be back out with an excited dressage for 34.3 followed by a confident DC to finish 5th ahead of stepping back up to Novice this weekend!🌟

First event for 🧡Benji🧡 this year running in the same section as Holly made for a hectic afternoon (thank you David for helping to keep the show on the road as always)🤪!! Benji put in a lovely dressage for 29.5 followed by a very nervous SJ round resulting in a few poles falling. He then put in a super confident clear XC to finish the day! 😃

Great to have them both back out 🥰. Roll on what’s left of the season….

Trip to Vale View BS with both ponies today 🧡🩶. Holly very excited to be out doing the 1.05m & 1.10m, this is her calmer round 🙈🤣. Both having an unlucky pole, it’s fair to say we were a bit competition rusty after an 8 week break!! 😁🤷🏻‍♀️

Educational run for 🌟Holly Bean and me 🌟 today at Catton Park in the Novice. After a stressful start to the day I went wrong in my dressage test 🙈 although managed to recover well for a 25.3 somehow?! Rolled a pole show jumping after cutting the corner to fence 7 and paying the price 😳🤷🏻‍♀️. A lot of questions on the XC led to a slightly more sticky round than I as hoping for but a lot to take away for both of us.. here’s a short clip of the XC..
