Our show record at county level both north and south of the border and our consistent success at the national breed show, winning the yearling c**t class four years out of five, confirms this. The Irish Draught Horse is renowned for its ability, endurance and temperament and is the main stay of the Irish Sports Horse and these qualities are at the forefront of our breeding programme. We always hav

e broken and unbroken stock for sale. This is not by any means a business for us, we breed horses for other people to enjoy as much as we do.

Breeding goes back to Cork Arthur on the sire line and Grey Macha on the dam
Yearling gelding imported from breeder in Ireland at the beginning of the year. Only looking for new 🏡 as overstocked again. Beautiful expressive uphill paces. He’s a serious small hunter in the making and that’s what we’d be producing him as if he was staying. He’d turn his hoof to anything but he’d be particularly suited to dressage due to his natural rhythm in all paces. Turns in and out like a dream, ties up, stands, picks up all feet, has been trimmed, wormed, vax and microchipped, travels alone and in company. Been out showing and stood himself fine after classes. She’s changed so much, but not so much really. Irish Draught Champion New Deer show as a 3yo, 9 years ago today and she hasn’t stopped since 🍀 they broke the mould when you were made Elf, mostly for the good, sometimes more frustratingly not but I never stop smiling when I’m around you 🙃

Home bred Laighlands Sweet Afton. First 1, 2 and 3yo Hunter, in hand hunter champion, then overall Hunter Champion at the weekend. I’m not really a big believer in hanging around with young horses for overall supremes but it wasn’t a warm day and we only had a couple of hours to wait and it was well worth it. Reserve supreme of 12 sections at 2 years old, and a massive cheer from the ringside. This filly has serious affiliated heavy weight show horse potential. Qualified youngstock IDHS GB youngstock challenge first time out as a yearling and two year old . She has the price tag to match her potential at 10K. Unblemished, well handled and open to any vet. Dam line goes back to Blackthorn. Great great grand dam was highly sought after in USA and grand dam was overall supreme of show just after we bought her. Second generation pure bred laighlands horse, one of many many champions. She comes from highly regarded and selected dam lines 🍀 xx

Laighlands Glenfiddich and the main man Irish Draught Champions at Doune and Dunblane show at the weekend. When we learn not to spook at flags that aren’t even ringside this year we would have taken the ridden class too. It’s always nice to get feedback from the judge

Irish Draught yearling filly. Beautiful, compact, straight,flashy mover. Please see picture of mouth confirmation carefully, as it’s not quite correct but this will not hamper her. She’s been seen by our vet and with regular dentals they think she will be fine. This is a quality, forward thinking dressage mare in the making. Passported, chipped and registered with IDHS GB. Had bridle on, very well handled. Leads, ties up, picks up feet and a dawdle to catch, turn in and out. Dam qualified prelim quest nationals. Very sensibly priced

Just back into work after foal and winter/mud holiday. She is in her winter woolies, but going very nicely in the school, would be ready to go out to smash a prelim test again in a couple of weeks. Her BD record speaks for itself. Qualified Prelim quest nationals. Always gets brilliant scores for her rhythm. She hacks alone and in company
Central Scotland low 5’s starting with 12. Currently barefoot, no lumps or bumps, intelligent and quick to learn. This is well worth it for a mare of this calibre and breeding. Lack of time and space forces sad ⛵️

Very proud to introduce our newest, homebred Class one Irish Draught mare, Laighlands Glen Isla. She was graded this morning at the Scottish gradings. She has Ebony Hill and Blackthorn lines. Everyone loved her and Fern, and neither of them put a foot wrong 💚 xx

A lovely chilled morning’s showing with Georgie and Fern today. Couldn’t have been more proud of how Fern behaved, her first time off the farm and with an absolute novice foal in hand handler at the end of the rope. Georgie was shown by the professional though 💚 I was determined she’d have a show name by now but unfortunately not 💚💚🦄 xx

This lovely yearling filly is looking for a new 🏠 through no fault of her own, and is being advertised by us for her owner. She’s very well and easily handled, she’s had her feet trimmed every six weeks, and she’s had her first two vaccinations. She is turned out happily with geldings. She has a fantastic nature, is a straight and flashy mover as you would expect from a Classic Scot foal, and is sure to excel in any sphere a competition home would be ideal for Orla. Classic Scot has BD and BS merits and BD progeny merits. Classic Scot is the only graded son of the grade A Irish Draught Stallion Classic Vision. Only three days late with this post! At 2.30 on Sunday morning, Georgie foaled an absolutely cracking filly. They had their first turn out for a little while this afternoon in between the heavy rain showers. We are very pleased with this little lady, and at the moment she will be retained. So pleased with the baby Belle this morning, our first time out British Dressage this year, and she was back to her best. A little bit tired today I think, but lots to like and it makes such a difference to get really positive comments from the judge 🙃

Hogmanay gives us time to reflect on the past year (and all of our equine, and equine related purchases 😅) we hope 2022 is a better year and covid free 🤞🏻, and we can get our girls and boys out competing and doing what they do best 💚💚 xx

Was so happy to be out competing with this one last Sunday. First time out for two (ish) years after her foal and only four weeks back under saddle in that same time. She hadn’t forgotten one thing and she came alive as soon as she stepped off the box. I can tell you I was grinning from ear to ear from the moment I hopped on her till we came down the centre line 💖 one tiny spook at the pretty spooky judges box first time down, and an unfortunate trip before a canter transition, but all in all a happy Elf, and a very happy Jules 💖💚 xx

I feel like a very lucky woman today. The horses I get to ride, which we bred really are truly incredible. Little Belle and I qualified for the British Dressage Quest finals in second place on the Scottish leader board, and today we were second at the Scottish Regional Finals, with less than 0.5% between us and top place. Qualifying us for the national final to be held in England. As always thank you so much to my parents, none of this would be possible if it’s wasn’t for the backing of my A team 💖. 💖 xx

Team Laighlands Stud was at Netherton Equestrian Dressage today. Four year old Laighlands Bucks Loup had his first time out, behaved impeccably and was 6th with 62%. Classic Scott and his daughter Laighlands Glenfiddich had their first affiliated dressage. Brodie warmed up beautifully, but was unsettled for his Novice test, but was 5th with 64%, and little Elf was 2nd with 73.8% in her first BD prelim class. A great day all round for the team 🐎. Laighlands Glenfiddich's test is attached xx
