HORSE TRANSPORT IN PERTH, CENTRAL SCOTLAND. HORSE TRANSPORT

Nothing like the late night ferry over the sea to Ireland. ;) Looks like a large number of horse lorries arriving at the port heading home after a busy week at Blair Horse Trials. All horses calm and and settled. Look out Belfast...here we come.!!

To Orkney and beyond. No island is too far away. Off to Sanday today to collect 3 ponies making their way to a new home in Aberdeenshire. Sea looks a bit choppy so expecting a bumpy trip :(

Wee jaunt over to Orkney to pick up horses tomorrow. No point in wasting time so managed to catch a walk around the famous Brodgar Stone Circle just as sun was setting....magical and eerie at the same time. Some stones showing early graffiti as far back as 1868 and 1870 :). Eat your heart out Neil Oliver..lol.

Hard life this foal business!!! Eating, drinking and sleeping...not much different to us actually. Lol.
Having a rest before heading south tomorrow with mum and some Shetland pony pals. :)

Three "straight off the hill" Yorkshire Exmoors travelling so well for first time and off to their new home in the Scottish borders. Getting them onboard was one thing but getting them off again might be more fun now they are so settled. Lol ;)

Thanks Roland for delivering the wee section B yearling to us this morning in Oxfordshire. Arrived as sweet as a nut and clearly had been travelled carefully. Safe travels.

Just had to post this wee boy...6 month old rare breed Poitou Donkey. Having a stop off at my yard. His ears are big enough to detect movement in Inverness.lol. Absolute gem.

⚠️Covid 19 update ⚠️

After careful consideration and discussions with relevant health departments we are now in a position to re-open for normal transportation again.
We will still be following strict Covid19 government advise regarding wearing of PPE and social distancing measures.

We would like to thank all our past, present and new customers for their loyalty, support and patience through the past 9 weeks during the governments advisory lockdown period.

It has been a long hard battle for everyone involved and we know there is still a long way to go before we can lift any health and safety precautions, allowing us a more relaxed approach to transporting horses again.

We currently have a backlog of previously booked jobs before lockdown to clear first before taking on new ones.

We are now quoting for your future transport enquiries and you can be assured of receiving the same attention to detail and quality service that you have been accustomed to prior to lockdown.

Regards
Roland

IMPORTANT-MESSAGE
To All Customers...
As of midnight tonight I will no longer be transporting horses in the UK while the country has been put on shutdown by the government. All unnecessary and non essential travel is to cease for a minimum of 3-4 weeks. This is now the only way that we, as a nation, can try to slow down the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
Over the last 2 weeks transporting horses it has become more and more difficult to safely avoid contact with the customers and the general public.
Whilst keeping a recommended 2m distance from customers and taking other precautions like wearing PPE is quite easy, it is the contact with other members of the public that is now proving too difficult to control..when fuelling lorries and having to enter premises to queue and pay for same.
As transporters we cover all corners of the UK and now feel the risks being taken to deliver the horses is just too high for my and my customers health and safety.
I will be contacting all customers over the next few days to offer full refunds on any paid up transport and offer the opportunity to reschedule or book with another transporter who may be continuing to travel during this "lockdown" .
This is a huge inconvenience on us all but together we can and will come through these unprecedented times.
Thank you. Roland.

Corona Virus
*************
A short notice advising all current and future booked customers of our transporting policy whilst it is still safe and legal to do so.....
We are closely following all advice issued by the government and their agencies and will still carry out transport services in U.K. mainland only.
Whilst most of Europe is on lockdown & their borders are being fully closed and monitored we will not be collecting or delivering horses to mainland Europe or Ireland (both North and South).
As we are all aware this virus is not carried or passed on by animals but all contact with customers will be on a 1 to 1 basis only and please dont be offended when i arrive with my single use latex gloves on..this is for your health and safety as well as mine should we handle the same equipment etc.
We can all see this nightmare through if we all take simple precautions whilst going about our business to help reduce any risk of passing on or contracting the virus.
There may come a day soon when we are advised by the government to shutdown all non essential travel and transport, leaving only essential service vehicles to travel. When this happens we will of course advise everyone as soon as we become aware.
Meantime stay safe and we will all get through this...eventually.

We would like to thank you all for your continued support at this time.

Latest information received from Stena Freight re lorry drivers...

Dear Freight Customer,

Given the current situation and conditions on the North Sea, please be advised that we have decided to implement temperature measurement for freight drivers (accompanied cargo only) as of tomorrow 17th March.

Temperature checks carried out before check-in will focus on freight drivers with extreme coughing and/or fever symptoms
The measured temperature is a deciding factor. If a temperature above 38 degrees Celsius is measured, the driver will not be checked-in to travel with us and we will advise the driver to contact his/her employer.

Furthermore we would like to inform you some of the further actions we have taken on the North Sea, based on the conditions here:

We will be offering a single cabin use, with the exception on double manned units. They will be accommodated in one shared cabin. This is purely due to the current situation and will be evaluated on a week-by-week basis.
We are having a considerably increased cleaning regime both on the ships and in ports
We have also taken other hygienic steps on board the vessels, which may lead to different ways of servicing food to your drivers

Kind Regards
Stena Line Freight

Having been bumped off the morning ferry due to the weather im finally on the night sailing, lashed down, horses settled and itll still be a bumpy trip as its still very windy out there. Captain decided to let me on and risk it. :) . Unfortunately means delivering in the dark which is a shame for the horses as they dont know where they are until daylight tomorrow.
Bon voyage

You know winter has arrived and Christmas is just around the corner when the beautiful scenery in Scotland shows you her winter colours. On my way to Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides today with 6 Jacobs X sheep and a 32 yr old, a 12yr old and a 3 yr old Shetland pony. Going to be a bit of a change for them from the beauty of Anglesey in Wales to the beauty of Hebrides.
