2nd: Charlotte Hammick with Muscatelle Spindrift

3rd: Sarah Nickels Hawkins with Wauniago Geoff Wheel

1st: Samantha Kirkham with Bellspaddle Archer Of Wallershaven

2nd: Robert Smallman with Caitlin Primrose

3rd: Ben Almey with Ticefield Dazed N’Confused

Here’s Penny (7 months old) demonstrating why working cocker spaniels are often referred to as pocket rockets!
We were practising free running recalls, whereby we released the puppy from a sit (with a verbal command) to go and run around and then periodically recalled in. Always finishing the recall with a sit in front and eye contact before releasing the puppy again.
Well done Penny & Vicki, perhaps she’ll slow down one day 🤣🚀🚀🚀

Training walks are a great way of putting all the skills learnt in obedience classes into practice in a group walk setting. Here, Belinda’s group are having a lively chat whilst their dogs remain calm and settled in a prolonged stay.
Well done team, we certainly did enjoy the sun and the bluebells!

Thirteenth birthdays are very special and should certainly be celebrated 🥂Happy birthday to my very special lady Truly, born on this day 3.3.11 (aka Bedgebrook Scrumptious). Along with this evening’s shot in the daffs, a couple of photos to remember her at the start of Day 3 of the Championship at Windsor 2014. Mother and Grandmother now to several FTChs and many very special dogs, I owe a wealth of gratitude to for letting me have her at 8 weeks all those years ago. Here’s to my Truly 🥂🥂 and all the joy she has brought to our lives and those who go and are yet to go beyond her

Beyond our dreams to have been awarded second place with FTCH Mitforton Onour with this beautiful bronze grouse Ulstare Style Trophy at 2023 International Gundog League Championship at the glorious Drumlanrig Estate by gracious permission of the Duke of Buccleuch and Queensbury

This was Onour’s fourth championship for which we qualified very late in the calendar via the arduous route of gaining three Bs, the 2nd & 3rd of which were just a few days before the championship. So lucky we were to have been able to survive the three days of immensely tough and intense dog work in this stunning country alongside the very best of the best in the gundog world.

We are hugely grateful to our generous sponsor for keeping Onour and all our dogs fit and strong, mentally and physically all year round. Kronch supported us through most of FTCh Mitforton Nacho’s championship years too and he’s still going strong!

Huge congratulations HM King Charles 111 for first place with Buccleuch Bowhill of Sandringham handled by David Lisett. It was indeed an honour to be running alongside this great dog and handler trainer throughout these three most memorable of days along with so many other top handler trainers

Results
1st HM King Charles III FtCh Buccleuch Bowhill of Sandringham handled by David Lisset.
2nd Louie Robertson
FtCh Mitforton Onour
3rd David Logan
FtCh Craigmaddie Mufasa of Bishopsbrae.

The IGL Retriever Championship 2023 will be held at the Queensberry Estate, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland by the kind and generous invitation of His Grace the Duke of Buccleuch and Queensberry KBE, DL on Monday 27th, Tuesday 28th & Wednesday 29th November 2023

2023 IGL Retriever Championship Facts & Figures
Nigel Carville is judging this year along with Greig Patterson, Steve Richardson and Mike Rolland.

There are 67 qualifiers this year and all will be competing at this year’s event: 37 are Field Trial Champions, 24 of the dogs qualified ran at Holkham last year, 24 are bi***es, 4 are Golden Retrievers. Interestingly, at Queensberry in 2015 there were 57 qualifiers and 8 of those dogs were double qualifiers.

No fewer than six dogs have qualified via the arduous B qualification route: Bill Gardiner’s Tempurong Gra of Cacklebury, John Halsted’s Buccleuch Favour, David Logan’s FTCh Craigmaddie Mufasa of Bishopbrae, David Milne’s Rumbleton Ginevier, Claire Raymond’s FTCh Nobsquinton Nettle and Louie Robertson’s FTCh Mitforton Onour.

Two dogs will be running in their fourth Championship: FTCh Think Twice Zero to Hero (GR dog) and FTCh Mitforton Onour (Lab. bitch)
