How much is a handful?
We asked all of our team measures to take “a handful” of kibble. We then weighed each handful and they varied from 12g to 36g - that means the biggest handful was three times the size of the smallest. The best way to measure out your pets food is using scales, if not then use a measuring cup designed for the food you are feeding. A handful is not an accurate way of feeding!

This is one reason why I don’t throw sticks… or let any dog chew on sticks.

Throwing a stick for a dog is something that could potentially cause anything from minor abrasions to life threatening injuries, but a stick doesn't always have to be thrown to cause an issue.

A dog has a natural urge to chew; in young dogs it can be to relieve the pain caused by incoming teeth. In older dogs it thought that it could be a way to keep teeth and jaws clean and strong, or as a way to get attention or even just to play.

Chesters owners rushed him to the Fakenham Hospital after he became distressed at home and pawing at his face. On examination a stick that he had found was seen wedged between his teeth in the roof of his mouth. Chester was sedated in order to remove the stick that was very firmly stuck between his teeth, and has now recovered from his ordeal.
