I get up at 5am everyday to draw my portraits and then for the rest of the time I spend it with my children. It’s the Summer holidays here in the UK now so not too much change as we homeschool. With that being said there are no home ed clubs to attend and no tutoring until September now so we can do lots more random trips. Today we visited Blue Pool for the first time and it was incredible. So peaceful and picturesque!🦚

Presenting my latest portrait ‘Vinnie.’ This is a tribute piece drawn on A4 Bristol Board paper using a combination of Faber Castell Polychromos, Caran D’Ache luminance pencils and Windsor Newton paint (for the fine white hairs and nose shine.)
I truly enjoyed every moment of bringing Vinnie’s spirit back to life! He had so many beautiful tones and markings plus I could tell he was an exceptional guy from his dear expression. Here’s what his owner KellyAnne had to say about her very special boy…

Vinnie was our 1st ever Leonberger and 1st dog in over 20yrs.
We rehomed Vinnie at 9mths as a family pet for my daughter, we knew she would hate the puppy stage with all the mouthing and such, so we did a little bit of research and found leonbergers to be good with families and the most active of the giant breeds.

We didn't know what to expect, but Vinnie although being so young he had an old soul.

He took a shine to our 9yr old immediately even though he came from an all adult, kennel/show background, he just clicked with my daughter and slept by her side from day 1 until his passing 7yrs later.

Vinnie was a therapet for 6yrs visiting care homes, schools, universities and was part of a flagship scheme called The Canine Crew where gentle minded dogs would reassure nervous flyers and go around saying 'Hi' to passengers whilst waiting to board flights.

We never had to tell Vinnie commands he was so intuitive he just knew.
We have had x3 leonbergers since Vinnie and although they are very simular natured, Vinnie was exceptional and loyal to the bitter end.

Unfortunately Vinnie passed away very sudden, he was fine morning and afternoon went out his walk at the beach had his usual ice-cream cone,played at the park.
However by evening he became very lethargic, we took him to 24hr vet expecting to be told he ate something he shouldn't, but unfortunately Vinnie had tumors we were not aware of.
The tumour had ruptured and unfortunately we had to make the decision to let him go.

I can say hand on heart we will never find another dog like him.

I’ve been trying for months to try and gain some time to work whilst homeschooling but it was proving all too overwhelmed attempting to work at night after a long day of homeschooling two children. The solution? I’ve been getting up at 5am. Getting my self care routine in which is breathwork, working out, meditation and journalling…All that is done by 6am and then I have 1-2 hours each morning to draw depending on what time the children wake up. So far so good! I’ll bring you guys a decent update this weekend as I’m still building up the layers on Vinnie. I took this photo at 6.15am yesterday, it’s such a beautiful, peaceful time of day to draw.
