I haven’t the heart for celebrating the arrival of 2024 but instead invite you all to put out a wish at midnight for a successful judicial review in January, and thank the Trustees at Carla Lane Animals in Need Liverpool for their action in securing a temporary injunction.

Take good care of you and your dogs, and together let’s hope for a peaceful and safe 2024 for us all - 2 or 4 legs xx

Thank you to all our amazing supporters for your kindness and generosity this year, and a special thank you to Linda, Fiona and Tina for continuing to enable FFH to ‘make a difference, one dog at a time’ ######

With much love & gratitude
A xx 🧡

🌲 Safety alert for your pets: Watch out for pesky pines! 🌲🔍

A real Christmas tree is so beautiful, but it can pose serious threats to your precious pets. Prickly pine needles not only give your pets a hard time if swallowed, but their sharp leaves can also inflict cuts inside their mouth or throat, and create discomfort if stuck in their tummy.
Even more, these needles can get lodged in their paws or, worse, damage their eyes leading to a painful festive season for them.

What's the solution?

Choose a Christmas tree with low needle drops such as the Nordman or an artifical tree. 🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲

DAISY is a Female Labrador Retriever Golden (Age: Adult). Stolen from Attleborough, NR17 area, Norfolk on 21st November 2017.

“We were both home when she was taken from our garden! It took less then 30 seconds for them to take Daisy !

“The next day a witness contacted me and said he’d seen a man run up our drive, pick up Daisy and throw her in the back of his pick-up truck.

“Our posters were all over the area by then, and the story had been posted on social media.”

If you found, bought or rescued a dog like Daisy over the last year please ask your vet to scan the microchip and check the registration on the original database where she is flagged as stolen.

Retired hairdresser Rita Potter, 73, supported the Stolen And Missing Pet Alliance, after her beloved labrador Daisy, five, was taken in November 2017. The group’s petition, calling for tougher pet theft legislation, received more than 100,000 signatures.

She said: “My MP, George Freeman, spoke about Daisy’s dognapping in the House of Commons and highlighted that only five per cent of dog thefts result in convictions, resulting in a small fine or community service”. Hardly the deterrent to stop this low risk high reward crime from growing year on year.

Rita said: “People who steal pets need harsher punishment.

These animals are living beings and having a pet stolen causes great emotional distress — I know, the house is empty without our dog.” Daisy was stolen from the garden of the home Rita shares with her husband Philip, 82, in Attleborough, Norfolk.

Labradors are the sixth most-likely dog breed to be stolen.

Daisy is still out there somewhere, please share.

*** APPEAL FOR INFORMATION ***

Five cats were found dumped in a cramped cage outside a mosque in Rugby on 9th November 💔

They were without food or water when a member of the public found them, but thankfully they are now receiving some much-needed TLC at RSPCA Coventry and District Branch 💙

Heartbreakingly, these cats are just one of the 17,838 reports of abandonment we've received this year 😢 and support our frontline rescue teams this winter: bit.ly/3MoUDbQ
