We had very interesting visit yesterday at our clinic. The great Hastings based actor and radio host Francis Saunders showed up had very good chat with Lubos. They also recorded a little interview as well. You can hear it tomorrow morning in the radio.
Francis was great in play Gangster No 1. And he recently finished his new movie Barred. You can also see it as a play in the Kino on the Normans Road at St. Leonards on 17 and 18/10 and you can buy tickets here: https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/kinoteatr/e-dmkxjz.

Just tune in Storm FM tomorrow morning and you can hear us:

**๐Ÿพ Traveling to the EU with Your Pet? Here's What You Need to Know! ๐Ÿพ**

Planning a trip to the EU with your furry friend? Make sure you're prepared with these essential steps:

1. **Animal Health Certificate (AHC):** Your pet needs an AHC issued by an official vet within 10 days of travel. It certifies that your pet is microchipped, vaccinated against rabies, and in good health.

2. **Microchipping:** Ensure your pet is microchipped before their rabies vaccination. The chip must comply with ISO standards.

3. **Rabies Vaccination:** Your pet must be vaccinated at least 21 days before travel. The vaccine must be up to date and recorded on the AHC.

4. **Tapeworm Treatment:** Dogs traveling to some countries require a tapeworm treatment 1-5 days before arrival. Check if your destination requires this.

5. **Entering the EU:** Use an approved route and ensure your pet's documentation is ready for inspection upon arrival.

6. **Return to the UK:** Your pet will need a new AHC if returning from the EU or other countries. Plan ahead to avoid any surprises!

Safe travels and happy adventures with your four-legged companion! ๐Ÿถโœˆ๏ธ๐Ÿฑ

Contact us if you are planning to travel with your pet l and need to issue an Animal Heatlh Certificate.

Let's talk about bloods...

At Our Veterina, we can do plenty of blood analysis in-house. We can check blood cells, we can check metabolic profiles, hormones, electrolytes, and blood gases.

Why is it important?

As pet owners, we want to do everything we can to ensure our little (or big) companions live long, healthy lives. One of the most important yet often overlooked steps in pet healthcare is regular blood testing. Hereโ€™s why it matters:

# # # 1. **Early Detection of Illness:**
Many serious health conditions, such as kidney disease, diabetes, and liver problems, can develop without any obvious symptoms. Blood tests can reveal early signs of these issues, allowing for prompt treatment before they become severe.

# # # 2. **Monitoring Ongoing Health Issues:**
If your pet has a chronic condition, regular blood work is essential to monitor the effectiveness of their treatment and make necessary adjustments. This helps in managing the disease and improving their quality of life.

# # # 3. **Establishing a Baseline:**
When your pet is healthy, a blood test can establish a baseline for their normal levels. This makes it easier to spot any changes in future tests, providing valuable insights for your vet.

# # # 4. **Pre-Surgical Safety:**
Before any surgery, blood tests are critical to assess your petโ€™s overall health. This ensures they are fit for anaesthesia and reduces the risk of complications during the procedure.

# # # 5. **Senior Pet Care:**
As pets age, they become more susceptible to various health issues. Regular blood tests are especially important for older pets to catch age-related diseases early and manage them effectively.

# # # 6. **Peace of Mind:**
Regular blood tests can give you peace of mind, knowing that you are doing everything possible to keep your pet healthy and catch any potential issues early on.

Donโ€™t wait for symptoms to appear. Speak to us about scheduling regular blood tests as part of your petโ€™s routine check-ups. Itโ€™s a small step that can make a big difference in their health and well-being. ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑโค๏ธ

24/08/2024

Today, we have been presented with lovely little doggy suffering from a condition known as pyometra, infection of uterus, and required surgery.

Pyometra is a serious and potentially life-threatening infection of the uterus that affects unspayed female dogs. It can develop rapidly and requires urgent veterinary care. Symptoms may include lethargy, loss of appetite, vomiting, and discharge from the v***a.

The good news? Neutering your dog (spaying) is the best way to prevent pyometra. By removing the uterus and ovaries, the risk of this infection is completely eliminated, alongside other health benefits like reduced chances of mammary tumours.

If your dog isnโ€™t spayed yet, do not hesitate to contact us and check about the best time to do it. Prevention is always better than cure!

Meet Dave.

This beautiful young lad was with us today on his post operation check. He unfortunately swallowed corn cob, which caused blockage of his intestines and required surgical removal.

Did you know that dogs ingesting foreign objects is a common but serious issue? ๐Ÿ›‘ Whether it's a sock, a toy, or something they picked up on a walk, foreign bodies can lead to dangerous blockages, choking, or even require surgery. Signs to watch out for include vomiting, loss of appetite, or unusual behaviour.

Keep an eye on what your dog is chewing, and always keep hazardous items out of reach. If you suspect your dog has swallowed something they shouldn't, contact the vets immediately! Prevention is key to keeping our pets safe. ๐Ÿพ

These two inquisitive kittens came for their first vaccination today. Anita and Monika were both very brave.

Vaccinating your kitten is one of the most important things you can do as a pet owner. Not only does it protect them from potentially fatal diseases like feline distemper and feline leukemia, but it also ensures a longer, healthier life for your furry friend. Kittens are especially vulnerable to infections as their immune systems are still developing.

By keeping up with their vaccination schedule, youโ€™re not only safeguarding your kitten but also helping to control the spread of diseases in the feline community. Letโ€™s give our little ones the best start in life. ๐Ÿฑโค๏ธ
