Let's talk about raw bones 🍖 and why they are a great addition to your dogs diet....

First up - COOKED 🍽 bones are NOT the same as raw bones. Cooking changes the structure of the bone & makes it more likely to splinter & break - never feed cooked bones ☠️

There are different types of bones that can be fed to your dog, but today let's start with the easiest & most recommended starter bone - poultry necks 🐓🦆🦃

Chicken 🐓 & Duck 🦆 necks are the popular choice of many, plus turkey 🦃 necks for larger breeds. Raw poultry bones are packed with soft bone, cartilage and connective tissues making them pliable and completely chewed & digested

They're also full of nutrients & minerals - duck necks are rich in Omega 3 fats, while chicken necks are a leaner protein option. They are a great source of phosphorus, potassium, zinc & selenium. B Vitamins are important for metabolism & heart health ❤️ while phosphorus & potassium are important for bone & heart health 🦴❤️. Zinc & selenium are Antioxidants which supports the body 💪

They're also full of glucosamine & chondroitin which help improve joint health 🦴

But probably the best bit? These crunchy treats boost serotonin levels (the feel good hormone in the brain) whilst being crunched! ☺️🐾

You can give them as a treat/snack on their own, or alongside a meal - pick the right size for your dog (chicken necks are great for smaller dogs, whilst duck necks are bigger for larger dogs - but if you've got a sensible dog & need a leaner protein, chicken is a good choice too)

And, as always, supervise your dog when they are eating ‼️ If they're a gulper...bolter...or 'inhale' their food kinda dogster....then necks & bones are a no go area unfortunately and off the menu 😕👍
