We are a small group and entirely run by unpaid volunteers who are committed to the rescue of sick, ill-treated and unwanted cats and to find them safe and loving homes. Before setting up LCR we were volunteers for another animal charity. We have many years' experience of cat welfare work between us in all areas, for example, hand rearing kittens, trapping, daily care, administering medicines, fos
tering, fundraising, etc. We have high standards of care, an ethos which prioritises the cats and kittens, and we work with a team of exemplary vets and vet nurses at Springfield vets. We try to help whenever we can, but we are a very small group of volunteers and at present more people are bringing in unwanted and abandoned cats than are offering to give them homes. Our pens are full and other cats are waiting. No cat is ever put to sleep unless a vet advises that nothing more can be done. We vaccinate, microchip, spay and neuter all cats over 4 months old before they go to new owners. Please look at the cats on our website [our website is pending, watch this space!]. PLEASE NOTE: We have a policy of not re-homing to busy roads. This is purely for the safety of the cats in our care: we want them to go on to have the happiest and longest lives possible.

🎄HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE 🎄
Well it’s been a while since our last post, but we have been very busy trying to make sure all our feral colonies have a regular supply of food and warm bedding. Most of our colonies have home carers on site, but one of our larger colonies that’s out at Worksop has been changed over to straw, this will keep them warm over the coming winter months. Any donations of food and blankets are much appreciated. We can pick up or any donations can be dropped off at Springfield vets.
Now would you like to meet our new arrivals, these kitties will be up for adoption when they are fit to be homed.
JOSEPH
Is 1 year old neutered microchip, bloods for fiv/ felv (negative) and will have 1st vaccination. He’s a little shy at the moment he was put in a basket and left on the doorstep at Springfield vets Moorgate with a note attached saying “ please help me” Springfield vets contacted us to see if there were any room in the inn. Of course we couldn’t refuse and after a week of rest in the hospital just in case someone was missing him, we went to collect him. He’s such a lovely fellow.
RUDIE
Is 1 year 8 months.
This poor chap was left at the vets as owner didn’t want him, he’s booked in our vets for neutering just after Christmas. His operation is a bit more evasive than a normal castration, we will keep you updated on rudie’s progress.
And last but not least our precious little candy cane.
CANDY CANE was born with a deformity affecting one of her leg’s one of her back leg has not formed properly and is bent and shaped like a crook, when she is a bit bigger the vets have advised that this leg will have to be removed to give her a better chance and make her more comfortable. This has not stopped her, she is a little dream, so loving and playful, she’s only 9 weeks old . We love this little fighter. 🐾🐾🐾🐾

FOR ADOPTION 🖤🤍🖤🤍 We need a special, experienced, patient home for Joseph. Joseph came into our care in mid-December. He was abandoned in a cat basket outside Springfields vets - yes, it was mid-winter. 🥶 Luckily a gentleman who was there to collect his dog's ashes noticed the basket and Joseph was taken inside. Initially we put Joseph into one of our catpens but he didn't like it; he was very upset and shocked. So a friend of Amanda agreed to foster him in her house in Barnsley and this is where he is now. Joseph is a young cat, maybe 18-24 months old. He's black and white, has been neutered, vaccinated, chipped and blood tested. He is very playful, loves his toys and catnip, likes looking out of the window, and rubbing around his fosterer's legs and being fussed BUT ... Joseph didn't emerge unscarred emotionally by the trauma of being dumped, and we don't have any background on what happened to him before that. His fosterer thinks he was hit or kicked because sometimes he is suddenly jumpy and frightened and will hiss or spit, for example he cowers or spits sometimes when she bends to put his food down. He sleeps on her bed and is loving and affectionate then occasionally panics and nips her. We believe that time will heal a lot of his fear based behaviours and triggers but he may always be a bit unpredictable. None of them are his fault. So we need a special home for him with no young children, a home with experienced patient cat lovers. You'll have to give him a few weeks to decompress, and have the patience to let him come to you. He'll need a litter tray because he should be kept in for several months - we believe having eventual access to a garden will also benefit him. We think there's someone out there who can heal this lovely little boy, give him love and patience, and show him that humans aren't all [insert your word of choice 😄].
