I often hear the phrase 'There's no such thing as a reactive dog, its the owners fault' but this is not the case. There are so many reasons to why a dog is reactive such as: genetics, developmental, environmental, medical reasons, frustration, fear, Learnt, Experiences, Training and many more.

So if you have a reactive dog, please don't feel like its your fault.

*Consistency*

When training and handling your dog, consistency is everything. Lack of consistency from the owner can lead to lack of responsiveness from your dog, as the dog will be unable to identify the commands which they are being given and so will not understand what is expected of them.

Hey everyone, I hope you are all keeping well.

I know a lot of you will recognise Louie the Golden Lab from over the years of posting photos and I wanted to let you know that he has flown to the rainbow Bridge. Absolutely devesated 😪. RIP My little man

This is the hardest part of my job and I absolutely hate it.
It's been such a very emotionaly time. Louie (&Ruby) I have walked for last 6 years. I am going to miss this guy so much. We've enjoyed beautiful walks and had so much fun. Fly high my little man 💔

Update. Thank you for all your messages and offers of help. The rabbits have all now found foster homes. Once they are all vet checked and ready for homes, we will update further.

Well it's fair to say , we didn't expect a box of young Bunnies to be dropped off at the shelter today 😳 This box of rabbits was found by a member of the public at the side of the road ... The box was sealed up with tape 😞

We no longer have facilities for rabbits at the shelter so we are trying to find foster homes urgently. In the meantime we will need to purchase suitable housing and equipment to ensure their welfare needs are adequately met.

The rabbits are not for rehoming currently until they have undergone relevant vet checks etc. Thank you 🥰

Body Language

Being a dog trainer I am always looking out for the slightest of body language signals that dogs are indicating with each other. If these smallest of signals are missed the dogs use 'louder' signals and these louder signals could be a snap or even a bite. It's important to me as a dog walker that I am constantly looking out for these. Dogs reactions are super quick and you have to be quick to see these signals and intervene before it escalates.

This also means I don't stand and talk to people when Im out and about, I love a good chat but dogs are my priority and if chatting I can soon miss these signals. Plus standing and talking to people who also have dogs can make the dogs feel anxious and stressed because it's not natural for a dog to be stood in a position facing another dog without having the option to able to move away if the need too.

When you are looking to hire a dog walker, make sure they know how to read a dogs body language, if they cant, things can soon go wrong.

Hey Guys, after much frustration i am having to start from scratch with my personal page and my business pages, which is so annoying and frustrating, plus that means i will be loosing all of my videos and photos. With that in mind, i am having to combine both my dog walking and training onto one page.

No place for a walk today in this heat, so a little wander around the garden 🤗

It's incredibly hot today, the pavements are going to be burning hot too. It's not worth the risk. Even being out in the garden just pottering around can give some dogs heatstroke. Each dog is different, they all have their individual limits, please don't take risks and be very cautious.

Be careful of water toxity too. Although paddling pools are a great ideas for keeping them cool, be careful of how much intake of water they are getting, especially if playing with a hosepipe. Not to mention the water can also be get very hot in a hosepipe too, if its been aloud to sit there in the sun.

We had a lovely first walk with this beautiful little girl. Looking forward to our next walkies again very soon 😘

First walks are always kept on a long lead so that we can get to know one another. It also gives me the chance to see if recall is good, as with new people and new environments dogs can find recall difficult. So long leads can give me the chance to see whilst keeping everyone safe. Poor recall I will never risk the chance of letting dogs off lead.

Hey everyone, I have just come across a post about kennel cough in the South Cave Area. Apparently it's quite bad in the area at the moment, so I will be avoiding walking around here for time being.

Please do let me know if your dog is showing signs of kennel cough as I don't want to pass it onto any other dogs.
