My name is Lucie, I am a devoted animal lover, often referred to as Mrs Dolittle by my friends. I am an experienced dog owner, previous animal carer at Woodgreen Animal Shelter & fosterer for the RSPCA. I have decided to turn my passion into a career once again, setting up Field of Dreams in St.Ives, Cambridgeshire. Our main focus is Dog Walking however other animal care is considered. This servic

e can be used on a regular basis or as and when required. Weekends can be arranged on request. Dogs are picked up and taken to fields/parkland where they can best enjoy their time out with us. They will return tired, happy and awaiting your return. Also should it be needed, they will be dried off, fed and watered. Please note: Dogs may be walked with others (unless otherwise agreed) this is an enjoyable experience for all. ALL dogs will be walked on their own to begin with and assessed as to whether being walked in a small group would benefit them.

Mabel is looking for a hero who can break her out of the RSPCA Newport Animal Centre cattery and whisk her off to her new home this ! Have you got what it takes? 🦸

This little lady was found scared and lost with her two brothers before coming into care. She has recently undergone life-saving surgery to remove cancer from her ears, but that hasn't dampened her loving, affectionate nature.

Grab your cape and adopt Mabel today: https://bit.ly/3QgUM34

This is a bit of a different post for our page 🦖 but I wanted to reach as many local people as possible, not just people on my personal friends list as I am trying to find a lovely man (I have been told by colleagues at the store that his name is Steve) who used to work at Morrisons in St.Ives, Cambridgeshire.

Steve was working on the checkout when we went with our 1 week old baby boy 👶🏼 when he pulled out this big dinosaur from under his desk & gave it to us 🥹 I was incredibly emotional around this time so had a few tears at his thoughtfulness 😩 & thanked him but I had no idea just how important a role this cuddly toy would play in the many months after & still to this day (17 months on). He’s been the comfiest pillow for my heavy tired head during the looooong nights, he’s been an arm rest for the many breastfeeding hours (any expectant mothers out there, this guy 🦖 has been the best little breastfeeding pillow!!!) & he still shares the bed with us now to prop up my arm whilst cuddling the baby to sleep 🥰 He has been & continues to be a big part of it all 🦖💚 He’s even been cuddled & kissed good morning by my very sleep deprived partner, thinking it was the baby 😂

I have been keeping an eye out each time i’m in the store to thank him but hadn’t seen him. I didn’t want to post anything on Facebook originally as I didn’t want to get him in any trouble if he shouldn’t have given it away 🫢 but I have just learned after asking after him that he has retired (& Morrisons if you are reading this - it’s lovely people/staff like Steve that encourage people like us to continue to shop in your stores)

So here we are, are you Steve? or do you know someone called Steve who used to work at Morrisons & kindly rehomed this dinosaur 🦖 with us?

I hope he sees this post just as a note of appreciation. Keep being kind people, it makes more of a difference in people’s lives than you realise.

THANK YOU STEVE 🥰

To all walkers/ countryside users
If you happen to come across a sheep lying on its back with its legs up, it is 'cast'. Please be so kind as to tip/roll it back over; if left like this they can die as they cannot get up. This is especially important this time of year as most 'cast' sheep will be carrying lambs, hence their struggle to get to their feet.
Please be kind enough to share

SO JUST HOW LONG DO YOUR PET’S SHOTS LAST?

Definitely longer than a year!

According to the top pet immunologist (aka vaccine expert) in the world, Dr. Ronald Schultz, Ph.D. – “ Annual revaccination provides no benefit and may increase the risk for adverse reactions.”

What the heck are adverse reactions (or side effects)?

Well according to the other rock star pet immunologist Dr. Jean Dodds:

“Side effects from dog vaccinations can occur anywhere from instantly up to several weeks or months later. Vaccines can even cause susceptibility to chronic diseases that appear much later in a dog’s life (Dodd, 2001).

Severe and fatal adverse reactions include:

•Susceptibility to infections.

•Neurological disorders and encephalitis.

•Aberrant behavior, including unprovoked aggression.

•Vaccines are linked to seizures. Distemper, parvovirus, rabies and, presumably, other vaccines have been linked with poly neuropathy, a nerve disease that involves inflammation of several nerves. (Dodds,2001)”

SO HOW LONG EXACTLY DOES YOUR PET’S VACCINE LAST?

According to the recommendations of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), (basically the dudes who set the standards for the vets): “Among healthy dogs, all commercially available [core] vaccines are expected to induce a sustained protective immune response lasting at least 5 yr. thereafter”

Here’s the breakdown of the core vaccines from Dr. Ronald Schultz:

Minimum Duration of Immunity for Canine Vaccines:

Distemper- 7 years by challenge
Parvovirus – 7 years by challenge
Adenovirus – 7 years by challenge
Canine rabies – 3 years by challenge

The moral of the story here, if you have no idea when your pet is due or has been vaccinated, then just run a titer test and this will confirm if you are due, rather than over-vaccinate your poor pet, setting the stage for future problems!

What’s a titer test?

A titer test (pronounced tight-errr) is a laboratory or in-house veterinary test measuring the existence and level of antibodies (necessary to fight off disease) in your pet’s blood. Basically, it’s a test that will tell you whether or not you actually need to vaccinate your pet.

It’s also super useful when making a decision about vaccinating a pet with an unknown vaccination history, or for determining if pets have received immunity from vaccination.

Vaccinating your pet is super important so don’t lose the overall message here: VACCINATE, JUST DON’T OVER-VACCINATE!

According to Dr. Dodds:

“Vaccines have achieved many important benefits for companion animals, and has saved more animals' lives than any other medical advance.”

ONE OF THE BEST FOODS TO SLOW DOG AGING...AND HOW TO FEED IT!🍃🐶

Folate is an essential B vitamin💊 found in food. It helps with the production of DNA and without folate new, healthy DNA cannot be created. Cell biologist and longevity researcher Rhonda Patrick, PhD, maintains that “a deficiency in folate is equivalent to standing under ionizing radiation due to the DNA damage it causes.” And DNA🧬 damage is a BIG contributor to aging.

More recently, folate has also been shown to play a role in protecting telomeres, those important structures at the end of chromosomes that are shortened with age and lifestyle choices; shorter telomeres are associated with shorter lifespan and higher incidence of disease. Being highly heat-sensitive🔥, folate is one of the first nutrients to be inactivated in processed pet food.

How to prepare spinach🍃 for you and your dog?
Scientists say the best way to consume spinach for maximum lutein intake may be puréed. That’s because when spinach is chopped into small pieces, more lutein is released from the leaves. Older research found that cooking also impacts the folate content of spinach; boiling slashed this B vitamin level by nearly half. Steaming, however, resulted in no significant loss of folate! Cooking also diminishes the vitamin E levels in spinach (and reduces oxalates, if you want to reduce oxalate consumption) but actually increases the amount of beta carotene. So it can be served cooked or raw.

Looking for an easy recipe to get spinach into your dog? Try making our Spinach Longevity Cubes! 🍃🧊🐾

INGREDIENTS-
* 5 ounces of fresh or steamed spinach🍃 (preferably organic)
* 2/3 cup of water (even better, try bone🦴, beef🐮 or chicken🐔 broth, preferably organic)

INSTRUCTIONS-
* Add spinach and water (or broth) in a blender and puree. If the mixture seems too thick, add in extra broth.🍵
* Pour the puree into ice cube trays and freeze until solid.🧊
* Store in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Add 1 ice cube🧊 per 30lbs of body weight🐕 a day to your dog’s meal.

This is one simple and powerful way to add longevity benefits to your dog’s bowl! Looking for more ideas or recipes? Check out the new book The Forever Dog with dozens of other suggestions! www.foreverdog.com
