With a heat wave hitting the UK at the moment and warnings from the met office about the dangers of heat we would like to remind everyone how important it is to keep your rats cool and how you can achieve this 😌
Most rats will cope absolutely fine in the heat, however unwell, very young or old rats may struggle, here are some things you can do to make them comfortable and to keep them safe.
❤️ Close all the curtains or blinds in your rat room, darkness helps to keep the room cool.
❤️ Use fans or air conditioning units to keep them cool
❤️Make sure that their water bottles are full and accessable
❤️Give them some frozen fruit or vegetables, pea fishing is super fun for rats to do and can be set up using a bowl of water with frozen peas inside, the rats will love to dip into the water to get the cool treat.
❤️ Use cooling pads for older or sick rats
❤️Having lots of hammocks and houses in their cage for them to relax in can help to keep them cool
❤️DO NOT take your rats outside in this heat.

Hi everyone! As you may have noticed, it has been a while since we last had a new litter. Due to several changes in circumstances here at Rinky Dinky, we've decided that for the time being, we can no longer give our all to having new litters. Our love for rats is in no way diminished and we are still keeping them as pets and perhaps one day in the future will start new lines once again. But for now we feel if we can't give a young litter our all, then it's not right for us to bring them into this world. We hope that you will stay following this page, we'll still have plenty of beautiful rat photos to share, and still hope to be involved within the rat community. And in the mean time, our sister Rattery(Rising Phoenix Rattery) would be our first recommendation for anyone hoping to join a waiting list. Thank you all for your understanding. Issie and Alex.

Happy new year to you all!
2020 wasn't quite the year of the rat we had planned here at Rinky Dinky Rattery, but I'm grateful to have spent the year spending more time with the rats and making precious memories!
So here's to 2021, may it be a better and kinder year to us all!

With the weather being so nice if it’s safe (and legal) for you to do so I’d encourage you to use your daily exercise and try foraging for your rats (and self if you fancy it). There’s lots of wonderful seasonal food out there the rats will enjoy.

Here's a few photos we've snapped during Lockdown.
The rats have enjoyed lots of free ranging on our bed, and they appear to be rather happy that Alex is currently home from work.
Sorry that I have been rather quiet on this page recently, quarantine has let time fly by, but its been wonderful to have extra time with all our animals.
I just want to remind those of you that are on my waiting list, I haven't forgotten about anyone, but I am not having any future litters until Lockdown restrictions have been lifted, and it safe for everyone to come and visit the Rattery, aswell as collect their reserved rats from my current litter.
For those who have recently filled out an application form, and are eager to have some fur babies in their life, I would like to once again thank you for your patience so far.
