Had a first day with this young lad today. Worked with quite a few Weimaraners but this is the first one for a while. Typical of the breed, always on the go, lots of energy, but bright as a button

Latest addition to the team, Teal. She is actually 16 weeks now but with the season being pretty full on I havent had as much time with her as I would like. Come February I can do a bit more with her. Out in the field this afternoon with Mouse and Snipe

Had a day with this lovely girl today on the farm shoot. Did lots with her as a pup but havent seen her for a while and she worked so well for me today. Very genuine.

Barely had time for any new dogs lately but met this lad today. Lovely dog , sweet natured and bright. Wont take long to see improvement

Another young Vizsla today. Only a baby and typical HPR. Owner has done a grand job with her, just a bit of tweaking and helping her focus.

Just wanted to share this photo because I like it. Kindly sent by the owner. Been involved in the training of this girl from a very early age. She is currently on a shooting road trip , lots of consecutive days, only her second season and never let's the owner down. Smashing girl 😀

Bit of background. Young very exuberant Lab, common complaints, pulls on the leash, crazy around other dogs etc. Lovely dog, very sweet natured, just a handful.
I picked him up from his owner today to bring him back to mine and spend a bit of time with him. Dont often do it but I thought it would definetly benefit him
One video shows him walking pretty nicely on the leash, the other shows his control while loose and with my dogs walking ahead of him.
About 20 minutes earlier he would have been charging about like a crazy thing, with no focus or regard for anything.
The videos are just to give an idea of the progress he made fairly quickly.
Picking him up again tomorrow so let's see how much he has learned

Not especially good video skills bit I find it hard to concentrate on the training holding the phone. This is a follow up to a video I put up not long ago.
The point of that video was to encourage some of those many posters who were struggling with dogs that were showing little or no interest in retrieving.
This young Goldie had no inclination at all to retrieve but now doing blinds and taking direction regularly.
Today had his first taste of cold game, that strange sensation of feathers rather than canvas, didnt phase him, what a star.

Well this afternoon was a gundog session courtesy of Pawsability training , who have held their canine week, offering different activities throughout the week.
A range of different gundog breeds ageing from 8 months to ten years !
Lovely dogs and owners just willing to give it a go, good fun and hopefully they got something out of it.
Sadly my photography skills are still lacking, as my family like to remind me, but hopefully you will get the gist .

Good first meet with this youngster. Love getting them at this age, little sponges.
This one is destined to be out in the field when she is ready. Great time to lay those foundations.

First time with this young lady. Owner done a good job with the foundations. Typical Cocker , can be sensitive but thrives when you make it fun. Bags of enthusiasm and that will to please made it a very enjoyable session. Good response to direction, worked her in tight patterns, and kept it interesting .

Bit of a change from gundogs.....rescue dog for a lovely owner, helped with her previous dog. Whole first session spent indoors addressing minor issues, next step outdoors..

Another new young Lab for training today. Nice and steady with the temperature, just testing his focus . Very responsive, typically keen to please, lovely boy.

Met these two today. Something rather different as they are more mature than the usual youngsters. Much as I advocate the benefits of early training, there is something very satisfying in working with older dogs and trying to improve them. Full credit to their owner as they both have good foundations, which made them a pleasure to work with and it was good fun helping to " sharpen them up " a bit, and maybe just introduce something new .

First time for these boys today. Litter brothers. Actually only worked with one of them, has to be one at a time initially. Good progress after an hour and lots of homework for the owners 😀

Seen a few posts lately from owners who's dogs have no interest in dummies , so thought I would put this video up. Forgive my video skills, I prefer to concentrate on training and rarely get to video. When I first met this young Golden Retriever (not long ago), he had zero interest. He would run out to a thrown dummy, sniff it , then go off and do his own thing. Now he does multiple retrieves, seen, memories, blinds, with added distractions, and takes direction. Video of a simple enough blind with his owner, herself new to gundog work. Very proud of his progress, shows it can be done.
