Some good advice for new puppy owners ( all puppies and not just Cockapoo’s! ) …. Very often people wait until the puppy is older and actually needs a haircut , by this point the dog finds these new situations scary and often stressful, whereas if they’ve been familiarised with grooming and the noises etc by the time they actually meed a groom , they tend to just take it in their stride …. So simple ❤️ 🐶

For the first six months, keep your Cockapoo’s grooming routine simple!

Regular brushing for 10 minutes, 4-5 times a week, will keep your pup well-groomed.

Stick to a basic grooming kit with a comb, brush and slicker brush. When your puppy’s adult coat starts coming in you can introduce trimming. ✂️

As soon as your puppy has had all its injections and is safe to leave the house, it’s time to book your puppy pamper appointments with your nearest Spotlight Groomer. ✅

With plenty of reassurance and cuddles, the groomer will gradually get your puppy used to the sights and sounds of the salon, preparing them for their first haircut. As owners, all you need to do is maintain the brushing in between. 💗

Absolutely loved meeting this little star Obbie today. It was just his first time and he took it all in his wee puppy stride… he had a little bubble bath, nail clip, ear clean, cuddles in a warm towel and a snuggle with the drier blowing before a little play in the window until mum came back. … can’t wait to see you again Obbie 🩵

Hoopers Mum snapped a few pics of him sitting in the window with Maisie this morning after his appointment, and it reminded me that with the salon fast approaching its 5th year of opening in October, that this wee boy will be celebrating his 5th birthday this year too. 🎈

Hooper first came to Maisies when We had just opened and he was only a few months old, he has been coming every 4 weeks for his grooming appointments ever since!!! He’s such a wee teddy bear 🧸. One of my wee treasured faithfuls 🩵 🩵🥰

I can’t recommend Callum Stewart from Delta Testing enough … professional, friendly and hassle free service , he just worked away around me while I was working away in the salon.

This time of year is always so bitter sweet… on one hand I love seeing the baby lambs bombing around their fields and on the other hand I dread seeing posts like these…. And they’re constant !!!! Why are these clowns so irresponsible with their dogs!????……It actually makes my blood boil!!!!!

It’s not hard… keep your dog on a lead anywhere near livestock …. Even dogs with great recall like Maisie should be on a lead ANYWHERE there are sheep near by…. Not only are these clowns letting the sheep and lambs down , they are letting their own dogs down…. As more than likely they will be shot! No matter the size of the dog either … I’ve seen a post where someone’s wee Pomeranian ran in a field barking and someone filming it laughing as they don’t think the dog could do damage … Any sort of dog presence in a field will be worrying the sheep and could cause them to abort lambs!

I wish people would get a brain!!!

It’s Spring clean time!!!

Happy Mothers Day to all pet Mums out there!!

The cutest thing ever is when I’ve completed a groom and I say to the wee doggo, “ are you going to sit in the window and look for your Mum, she’s coming to get you!”

Their wee faces are sooo cute watching out the window for their mums (& dads to be fair) ( but today’s not about you ! 😂😂)❤️ 🌷 🐶
