Today I came across this and to be fair I think it's important to sign and share.

So if you have 5 minutes give it a read a see if you can support it too!

Heartbreaking, that Farmers are put in this position, this is a national park and they are native to the area.💔✨🐴

I hope you can help.

Have you ever seen a horse pick her own rug.....drum roll, please! Enter Miss Daisy, we have some new followers, lovely to meet you all!

We use rugs mainly because she likes to be at a certain temperature and if she has no forage(in her mind) she will escape and gorge.

She always has access to hay
She is on a grass track
I give her a strip on either end and she has her hay station in the middle with water further away.

She is a good doer and arthritic, she's now rising 15.
Key to managing her is maintaining, balance and noticing patterns.

I brought an equestrian planner out three years ago to help both the horse and rider manage their equestrian year.

The main thing for us is finding the balance, hacking most days for 20-40 mins then keeping her muscles comfortable with warmth.

Enjoy the video....it shows you her character and our partnership✨🐴❤️ which I am eternally grateful for.

This still blows me away! Her frogs connecting and doing what it should be doing to get her body moving properly and in balance.

For year's being shod she never got this in her frogs. Four years now she's been barefoot the incredible spread the hoof and frog now has is insane.

So much so that when I pick her feet out after work in the arena(something I do after every ride) it's wedged so tight in there.

Now I know barefoot is not for everyone however for Daisy, she went from fronts to all four shod to barefoot, because I was fearing the worst.

I was prepared and had done my research, I had the transition all planned out it was the test run for .

The day those shoes came off, she tracked up straight away, something she never did shod.

So we took it slow and after a very patient transition and ALOT of in hand walking on various terrain, we got back on.

Here we are today, she is happier and her hocks have been so much better for it.

We ride up to 40 minutes and she see her farrier/trimmer every 6-8 weeks, dependant on work.

Tomorrow's her farrier/trimmer visit. 🎉✨🐴 always excited about it happening as she get a rebalance and I can check in with him on how she's doing, need to be doing more frequently or just right.

So if you are having mobility issues definitely worth getting on you tube and watching a few barefoot videos about foot fall and the digital cushion.

Getting her body pumping that blood properly round her body so she's back in harmony and balance has been our winning combo in the fight against arthritis.

Anyone else got a barefoot horse? Love to know if you have always or recently converted over.

😘m###

ps if you are looking to transition your horse to barefoot I have a pdf planner on the website and also you can use undated to track it too. Links in the bio👆 welcome to DM if you have any questions too.

What a little monkey!🤷‍♀️🤣

She had the physio today so I left her in....no problem right?

Error no, in her eyes there was a problem...one of the ladies at the yard called me and even went to check on her.

I was with an interiors client so I decided to head over this evening... had to do the drive by first😆 ..to find her happily munching.🙈 !

She was a little warm so I changed her rug, and now she’s back to munching.❤️

Such a creature of habit if you know you know, and for me I am so grateful I know her so well. They may seem like small things however these small things add up to patterns of behaviour.

Have you done the drive by and peek, just to check too🤣?

If you are reading this then it's perfect for you right now, at this moment...read on....

When things aren't working or you are returning back to riding with a horse that's not able to do what you did before or needs a quieter life, you go through a weird place.

Let's for ease call it grief.

I understand this emotion well you want to go to the events do all the things normal riders and horses do.

If you like me decide to roll with the punches right or wrong you have to find another way to live your equestrian life together.

There will be tears, there will be frustration but then there will be break throughs and from this you will find your partnership and connection.

From the ashes like a Phoenix rising you will both find a new trail together, putting partnership at the heart of everything you do.

From here who knows, who cares, just enjoy your time together whatever it looks like.

✨Walk trot e test
✨walk in hand hacking rather than ridden
✨Horse agility
✨Gentle hacks out
✨rebuildibg their bodies slowly

Sometimes not always they come back better than they were before they broke.

It's your lens, your life, you get one, just enjoy it every damn way you want to!

Have a beautiful weekend you lovely lot! Hope you are all out there living your best life.

Much love to you all I am grateful for you.✨ keep going, you can do it.

This is a state of emergency 🚨 in our world🤣🐴 honestly the things I do for my Horse !

Hay soaking.... Welcome to my world, day in day out 365 days a year she has hay!

✨Cornerstone of took daisy 8 months of little and often to get her to self regulate!

✨She went from 12 kilos to 7 over night in the winter. She has 2 kgs in field and a strip of grass.

✨Even in the summer she has 1.5 kgs to chase with the grass to balance out the sugar levels and 2 kgs when she’s in during the day during the summer, as she's out overnight.

So to say olde Yellow bin is essential is an understatement, if it need a the valve tightening there is not other choice!

It's the worst job, but I know she needs that bin, no other bin has lasted this long so it's the least I can do.🤣

Kisses from duke to say thank you!❤️

Holds a whopping 12kgs, nets in fill up, soak overnight, swing over drain open but(which sometimes does fall down the drain-another time)🙄 drains away 15 minutes days done, few drips but essentially no heavy lifting of really heavy wet hay!

Do you soak your hay? Any recommendations?I'd love to know what you use, there's some great new products out there now, for when I need to upgrade.

What's your horses most bizzare habit?

CONDENSATION DRIPS - stresses her right out, you’d even be forgiven for thinking she's a head shaker when that ceiling drips!🤪

She used to stand at the back of the stable then rush to get out....took a while to get to the bottom of this pattern however after noticing it only happened when cold and icy, I was confident she wasn't a head shaker.

Luckily being methodical and writing it all down really helped, saved money on unnecessary tests and vet bills.

This meant when these conditions presented themselves I got there before the barn roof started to defrost and turned her out.

As you can see she gets so affected by it that I struggle to get her halter on so we just get it on best we can, all she cares about is getting the hell away from those drips....so scary 🙈🤣

She such a big horse and doesn't care about much, but this is her Achilles heel!

Leave me a comment to tell me your horses habit below or does your horse hate the drips too?

Quiet topical this one....bedding, how are things going for you guys?

We have seen our costs triple here in south west!

For us it's been a really interesting winter not🙈 feel like I am constantly conducting an experiment. Using my copy of to record when I am adding more to see if there are any patterns and ways to save a.bit.

Here's my issue....

Super wet mare
No wood pellets
Currently so I mix shavings small flame and have Substituted pellets for chopped straw.

Verdict

Kinda works but miss my wood pellets, used one of my last two bags today, (moment of weakness)and left her mulching for two mins and I came back to this😂 not a impressed with her attempts to put it where it shouldn't be. As you can see she's really bothered!🤣

Anyway since I have been keeping a diary on how the substitution is gone and for how I feel it's working.

This week, I have had to make her bed up this time with just a bag of shavings a little olde school as I have no straw or pellets just shavings so will see where this takes us.

Bottom line with bedding budget my motto is whatever makes her comfortable and is the most cost effective has my vote.

It has been a bit frustrating having to try a new style of bedding this year, still costs are so high here most suppliers have stopped stocking wood pellets now.

Next I am looking at the micanthus pellets.🤞

I reckon by the summer I will have found the right solution or the cost of pellets will have come down!

Happy Friday you lovely lot!

Anyone got anything nice planned for the weekend?

We have a whole bunch more rain so I think it's time for a pamper session.

Hoping for an early spring, so will try and get another clip of the hairy monster.

She's starting to get a bit itchy as it's nearly grown back completely! It's only been two months, but so mild.

Anyone else horse need clipping again or am I just the lucky one😂

Picture of said hairy munchkin looking very cute.✨🥰

Tell me what's the weirdest Christmas present you have ever had?

This was mine and the knife blade was even engraved🙈, so heavy it used to pull my trousers down so I had to use a bum bag. Still so bloody useful, for rid of him kept the present💥🤣

Leave me a comment I am curious?

My fencer broke and I had to do a rushed fix and I got my trusty out to fix it in the pouring rain! Brought back lots of memories mainly of when I was given it, so sound on for the story🤣🙈❤️
