Rocco~ We promise this handsome boy loves his swim swims, he greets us with a waggy tail and he can’t wait to get in the water. However when the endorphins kick in, he gets a bit sleepy during his treatment. We couldn’t resist a photo of our handsome boy to cheer up anyone Wednesdays 💦

Merry Christmas From Rusty ⭐️. Rusty had spinal surgery at the beginning of this year and pops in now for a check up. Super proud of this boy smashed his recovery. He’s now back enjoying his walks again 🎄

Happy Monday! Just a reminder from our patient Pepper to please bring towels and robes or fleeces with you. It’s getting colder 🥶. Although may seem silly to put your dog in a coat here are the reasons we recommend you do 😉….

🐾 Older dogs or dogs recovering from surgery cannot regulate their body temperature as well.
🐾 Senior dogs are more sensitive to heat and humidity changes.
🐾 Dog that suffer from hypothyroidism, low thyroid production, can also contribute to heat loss.
🐾 Even post hydro your dog will naturally go threw a cooling down period. So it’s important to get them warm post session.

Is your dog sleeping enough? 🤔

We all know as humans sleep is vital to our everyday wellbeing and health, but what about our dogs?
As puppies they need an average of around 11 hours of sleep a day and generally sleep alot less at night, however as they progress into young adults they average between 8-13 hours of sleep during the day.
Most humans can function on 7-8 hours of sleep a night. Adult dogs sleep longer at night then puppies and 60%- 80% of dogs sleep is done between 8pm-8am.
Dogs that sleep during the day are generally more relaxed, happier and more focused during training. It also provides them with a higher chance of healing quicker. Dogs that sleep poorly have intense reactions to stimuli, bad moods, Irritability and poor memory 🤔.
Dogs can also suffer from Narcolepsy, apnea, and REM behaviour disorder 🥱

Is your dog getting quality sleep?
As therapist we often ask about your dog sleep arrangements. Regarding shapes or beds or slippery floors surrounding the area they rest. But things to also be mindful of, is the sound and light quality of the environment. Sleeping around lots of noise, light and frequency of being disturbed can affect the quality of their sleep just like us. And there for impact on their healing time. Be mindful of placing their bed in busy parts of the house and make sure your dog is able to rest during the day when your at home. Good sleep makes for a happy healthier hound 😴

Now that winter has arrived, we are trying our best to keep the centre as warm as possible for our patients. Getting a chill after hydro can undo all the good work a dog has achieved during their session.

We have tried our best to absorb the effects of the cost of living crisis as a business without having to raise our prices, this is becoming increasingly challenging for us.

We now need to ask our clients to help us with this. Please ensure you shut all doors behind you whilst in the centre. This includes internal doors. Please come into rooms and close the door behind you and not stand in a doorway holding it open.
