I am sure everyone knows to never get a pet for xmas. It is hard enough for our pets to cope with .

You have strangers coming in to visit or stay. Your routine is completely gone. The kids are home for the holidays. You are off work or rushing to complete shopping. So maybe the dog misses a few walks here or there.

Then on xmas day, kids are screaming, playing with new noisy toys, hyped up having chocolate for breakfast. Food left close to inquisitive noses. Mom ran ragged shooing the dog out of the kitchen.

Maybe a drink or two. Trying to entertain relatives you havent seen since last xmas. Fretting that aunt Agnes didnt get a gift. So maybe the dog misses a walk or two.

So maybe try and keep the dogs routine as best you can. Maybe get everyone to wrap up warm and go with you. Collect some natural decorations along the way. Or use that time alone with your dog to play with him and tire him out. Do training exercises along the way. Mix play and training up. Your dog doesnt know the difference. He just knows its fun. Take the time to see the gifts nature gives you. Snow on the trees, frost on grass and bushes. The quiet crunch of your footsteps, the songs of birds. The love your dog has for you.
