🥵 There is some very hot weather due over the next few days 🥵

Please take care with your pets, especially our flatter faced breeds such as Bulldogs and Frenchies and keep them out of the hot sun to avoid them becoming overheated.

Walk your dogs early in the morning or late at night to avoid the hottest times of the day, don’t throw balls or encourage any extra running and ensure all pets have access to cool areas and fresh drinking water. ☀️ 💦 🐈 🐶

HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to our amazing student nurse Lily who has passed her final exams today and is now a qualified veterinary nurse!🩷 🙌🏼🥳 🩺 🐈 🐶

Lily started with us as VCA (Veterinary Care Assistant) way back in 2020. She passed this course with flying colours and then began her veterinary nurse training. We are very lucky to have her, she is such a kind and caring nurse and we can’t wait to see her in her green tunic!

More candid pics of Lily in the comments 😉

🐾🐈Today is National Kitten Day🐈🐾

We’d like to introduce you to a very special kitten called Betty who is in the wonderful care of Cherry Tree Cat Rescue. Since arriving at Cherry Tree Betty had had a serious issue with her eye, which despite treatment turned out to be too badly damaged to be saved and she needed an urgent operation to remove it.

Betty was only 5 weeks old at the time and weighed a tiny 290g (just over 1/4 of the weight of a bag of sugar!) which made her anaesthetic very high risk and the surgery incredibly intricate. Our amazing Mimram team rallied and Betty had her surgery which was performed by vet Pom and the anaesthetic was monitored by 2 of our nursing team. Despite it being against the odds, Betty made it through and the surgery was a success, she was up and eating within a few hours!

She has since continued to thrive and is growing into a happy and heathy kitten who loves life despite having only one eye!

Enjoy our Betty pics 😍 📸 🐾

On Monday, Ziggy the puppy came in not feeling very well and after x-rays and an ultrasound scan it was quickly decided that he needed emergency surgery to remove a possible blockage.

Our vet Sam operated on Ziggy the same day and removed a large piece of rubber from his intestines which is believed to be from one of his toys that he had chewed.

With great care pre and post operatively Ziggy has now bounced back. He was a lucky boy on this occasion and we hope that he has learned his lesson! 🥰 🐾 🐶

⚠️🥵🐾PLEASE BEWARE OF HEATSTROKE🐾🥵⚠️

It’s too hot for your dogs to be outside for long periods at the moment. Please walk your dogs early in the morning or late at night (or don’t walk them at all). Heatstroke can be fatal and can happen incredibly quickly, dogs don’t need to be in hot cars or exercising heavily to be affected.

Some of the signs to look out for are:
Heavy panting
Excessive drooling
Collapse
Vomiting
Drowsy
Wobbly/uncoordinated
Diarrhoea

If your dog is showing any of these signs, please contact your vet immediately and start active cooling.
Offer cold water to drink, soak them with cold water (not tepid) and get them out of the sun straight away.

We all enjoy the sunshine but our pets cannot tolerate the heat as well as we can, imagine being outside wearing a fur coat! 🥵

📍IMPORTANT INFORMATION📍

We will be closed tomorrow (Tuesday) between 2-4pm for staff training.

🚨We are still here for emergencies🚨

🚨 TELEPHONE SCAM 🚨

We have been informed of a telephone scam currently aimed at people who have advertised their pet as missing.

The scammers are calling these owners claiming to be a veterinary practice and informing them they have their missing pet. They then advise the pet needs emergency treatment which must be paid for upfront over the phone prior to collection.

If anyone receives a call like this please put the phone down and call the practice number to check if this is legitimate.
