This page was once all about finding an amazing lurcher called Bolt a home, and then it became the story of his life.
Now it's aim is to try and help some other amazing lurchers find their very special forever families xx
I saw a post by a friend about her beautiful, newly adopted greyhound munching the corner of a book.
All I can say is that lurchers also munch things.....😋🐾🐾
Bolt always showed his displeasure (usually at being left on his own when he didn't think he should have been!) Luckily I forgave him every time! Even the shoes!!🤣

Am thinking maybe there should be a lurcher Olympics..🤔 I reckon they would excel at perhaps steeplechase, wrestling or even trampolining? Or perhaps they could bring back 'Tug of War'? Now that really would be an idea! 😂 🐾🐾
I was so very sad to hear that Bolt's absolutely bestest lurcher buddy Feathers passed away yesterday...🌈🌈

Layla is approximately 7 years old and didn't have a very easy start in life. She is a VERY loving girl when she knows you and will happily stay right by your side for attention. She is protective of her "people" and so new people in her life need to be introduced at her pace. She has also perfected a slightly worried look! 😟Love her! 🩷
Layla needs a calm and confident home and, in return, you will have a totally devoted and loyal companion.

Louis is 4/5 years old and was found wandering. Initially, he is nervous of new people, more so men....but fortunately I managed to win him over with some schmackos! 😋😁🐾🐾
He can live with other dogs and would suit a calm home. Louis is such a special boy who deserves an equally special forever home ❤️

So, here we go! This is an absolute beauty of a lurcher called Molly. At 4 years old and having previously lived in a home her whole life, she loves people, is good with other dogs and adores being out and about.
She is fairly...um..what's another word for 'solid'?..🤔😁

Hello from The Amazing Bolt's Legacy Page!
Life without Bolt has felt like a whole new experience these past few months. It was made even more challenging when I also lost Bolt's house buddy, Bear Greyhound. 🌈
For the time being I have decided to try and highlight some special lurchers currently resident at Celia Cross Greyhound Trust, in the hope that they too will find their forever homes....And maybe throw in a few memories of Bolt along the way of course!😁

Bolt came into my life totally unexpectedly and turned it on it's head. We had the best time - full of fun, a touch of insanity, frustration, laughter, tears, at times exasperation, and love. I was privileged to be his person..❤️❤️

Well, it's been a rollercoaster of a week. Bolt hasn't been feeling great and so he has been resting. It has been a worrying time. He is improving and so I am hoping that things are now heading back to normal 🤞🤞🤞xx

When your noisy lurcher lets you know loudly how they feel, remember one day they will be so quiet..
When your hungry lurcher eats everything they can find, remember one day they will only pick at their food..
When your strong and fearless lurcher spins like a loon and bumps into you, remember one day they will feel more fragile and walk slowly ....

Bolt has taken to occasional night time house wanderings. Likely as a result of either his age... or he can hear things in the woods... or my snoring is keeping him awake (Bolt: Snigger!!! !🤣🛏📢). I decided to set up a couple of plug in nightlights so that, if it is age related night time wanderings, he may feel less bothered if he can see better. First attempt last night and our house was lit up like Vegas! They do need a little adjustment!!!🤣🤣🤣 Or else Bolt needs some night vision goggles instead...🤔😁🕶!!xx

Such a beautiful afternoon so we headed over to our favourite place to make the most of the sunshine.☀️ The sun was definitely deceptive as it was still so cold! Fortunately, I had got an extra fleece coat on Bolt under his usual coat. A multi-coating sort of day! xx🐾🐾😁
Fun in the field this afternoon even if it was very cold and a bit sleety. Bolt was not terribly impressed by the very attractive pawprint snood (Bolt: 🙄) but was very happy when he realised he was actually nice and warm with it on! 🐾🐾☺️
Bolt has had a quiet start to 2024. The weather has not been the best - he loves the wind, hates the rain and (being a sunloving lurcher) does not enjoy being cold. On the plus side, his person has been at home a lot more which he likes (or so his person likes to think!😂). He has been eating better too which is always a plus.

Words I wrote in 2015..... Still feel the same!
DO get a lurcher if you want a dog with a huge personality, who needs time, commitment and understanding, a dog who can outsmart you, surprise you, yet, with one look, can melt your heart and you forgive them everything.
DO NOT get a lurcher if you are the sort of person who will give up when the going gets tough (it will at times, particularly in the early stages and then again when they have you sussed!), or if you want a dog that doesn't need a fair amount of exercise or if you want a dog that behaves perfectly at all times from day one.
Love my boy totally ❤️🐾🐾

And would you like some of this delicious chicken, some ham, a scotch egg, your plain old chicken and tripe raw with a choice of veg, and rice or oats??? Bolt: 🤔... No thanks....I'll just take a few sausages, a dentastik and possibly one of those twisty things.... Me: 🙄 (muttering and abandoning all hope of a balanced canine dinner)... it really is SO lucky that I love you totally...❤️ Bolt: (with a mouthful of sausage)..mwah! 😘😋😁🐾🐾
Me: So Bolt, a cynical lurcher owner may think that your refusal to eat for 24 hours, resulting in me panicking, purchasing assorted top of the range dog food and treats, holding your paw and stroking you all afternoon while you slept, assuming your demise was imminent, then feeding you your ultimate treat meal of sausages, baked beans and rice (which you noshed down with gusto), may all have been part of a cunning lurcher plan... Bolt: I am shocked you could think such a thing!!!! 😱 Me: 🤔 Bolt:😏....Are there any more sausages? 😇

Happy OFFICIAL 8th Gotcha to my boy!!! 🎉🎊 I can't believe it has been 8 years since we officially became Bolt's forever home.
