Thought I’d share this for anyone worried about the new legislation

Anyone here with a dog that may fall under the XL Bully criteria?
Happy to give any advice I can. Feel free to message me.

My main advice is....
1. Neutering is going to be essential. Get in done asap.
2. Make sure you have insurance. You can get third party liability insurance through Dogs Trust membership for £25 a year.
3. Keep working on any behavioural issues and make sure you have good trained responses from your dog.
4. Get your dog muzzle trained.
5. Make sure your house is secure. Courts like to see high fences and lockable gates and an extra level of security at front doors such as a porch or an additional gate. Your dog should never be able to barge out of a door.
6. Don't let off lead in a public place. Either use along line or take to secure fields.
7. Might be worth considering a full assessment and behavioural report. One of my clients has already booked in for this week so that she's got it in place.

If you need any extra help or advice, let me know. The things you do now will add to your assessment as a "fit and proper person" to own such a dog.
