Ive set up a themed party bag (side) business aimed at 3-7 yr olds with a more eco friendly angle - Trying to reduce single use plastics. All bags are handmade by me and either filled or unfilled.

I’ve just made some Dino bags for my friends kid (pictured) but have other options on my website.

Please be mindful when walking your furry friend

Please have a rethink if you have harness, make sure the one you use doesn’t cause shoulder issues

These harnesses 😤 they can cause shoulder and neck injury. I see them on dogs and have a physical swear out loud, but quietly under my breath (yes that makes no sense). Don’t use them x

Edit: I recommend a well fitted harness usually a Y shape as a better alternative as they allow for more fluid movement. The one below restricts shoulder extension and applies a lot of pressure around the dogs chest rather than it being distributed in an more even fashion.

Fireworks, absolute HELL for some dogs. I had one dog, Chops, who would happily sit and watch them, out of choice. But Izzy my collie is a scared, a shaking wreck of a dog. So how do I manage her? What can you try?

There are several option you can try, some you will need to discuss with your vet.

Firstly dog noise cancelling head phones. Designed specifically for dogs. These will help those scared of noises.

Porridge made with chamomile tea - calming and relaxing.

Nutracalm - natural, effective, but will need to come from your vet.

Sileo gel - medication that needs to be prescribed, good for those with noise aversion.

Thunder shirts - swaddle your dog like a new-born baby. Can comfort and settle.

Calming floral spray/calm cat from Vita Canis - natural & homemade aromatherapy based, essential oils for dogs and hydrosols for cats (as they cannot tolerate essential oils)

If your dog struggles, I really feel for you and them. Firework night seems to be firework week or month these days. The suggestions above will work better for some than others.

This is excellent advice

This picture has been shared a lot, and I couldn’t help but read as a vet and think about it. Euthanasia is a crappy but sometimes relieving part of the job. And yes I say feed what you like beforehand, all their favourites.

You know I’m so lucky not to have had to put a healthy dog to sleep, but I have been asked. I’ve just been able to find an alternative. One of those healthy dogs who was on death row lives with me, and has done for the last 9 years! The lovely Izzy. You see her in my online canine first aid course.

Deciding if a pet needs to be put to sleep is one of those difficult responsibilities when being a pet owner/parent. But you do need to think about it when they are struggling and remember you ARE giving the most dignified ending. I often give sedation first to make the process less daunting for everyone. But it will never be easy.

Write a list of their favourite things to eat, play with, and places to walk. Write 10 things down that you know your dog loves, and when they start to lose interest tick them off. When you are reaching the lower numbers think about their quality of life. Are they here because they enjoy life or are they here to make your life better. There is no shame thinking we can’t live without them, but take the higher ground and think about what life is like for them. That is tough to do I absolutely know that.

We are their voice, we are their world, we are their protectors. ❤️

Non work related but if any of you have horses/looking for excellent quality hay, my dad has 60 bales spare from his field (he keeps field free of ragwort and thistles and is lovely sweet hay) he may be able to deliver if needed. £5 a bale. Let me know if interested

I’m sooo glad my fur baby is home after her almost 2wk vet ordeal and major operation. Lumbry park and pet doctors Chandler’s Ford have been outstanding. Thank you to my amazing customers for baring with me during this time and having grooming appointments messed around. X
