Aston Le Walls
Another solid 100 run for both the ponies on Friday. Bit change for Dolly seemed to make a positive difference to the dressage mark and SJ round. Both had a pole in the SJ but we can't be perfect all the time....😂
Both of them were clear XC, really pleased with Bug concentrating all the way round.
Small wins as they were both much easier to do by the lorry which makes the day so much more enjoyable!
April 2024!
What a month....
Blue chip seems an age go.
Finished my centre 10 course, 2 days of training there, a day with the NDPCE guys was also fun....#alwayslearning
Cycling is ramping up, big ride in Dorset to look forward to this month.🙈
And last weekend topped up the month with a fabulous hen do for Chrissy. Video of go ape to follow....😂
May is not looking quieter but I will be doing more coaching so look out for dates!
As I have had some new followers recently (thank you), I thought it best to introduce myself.
I'm Julia and I identify as a @britishhorse Accrediated Profesional Coach. I also proudly attained my BECC level 3 and my passion is Eventing. I absolutely love coaching all levels and always look forward to summers of pony club camps.
I have 2 horses, Bug and Dolly that I am eventing this year. The plan is Badminton grassroots 2025...🤞 I try and document the highs and lows of horses and hope that I can pass on some of my learnings.
I have an amazing team around me of great coaching mates, wonderful liveries and clients and supportive family and friends.
This year; I am also cycling London to Brighton for Blood Cancer UK because I didn't think I was busy enough....😂 link in bio for anyone who wants to donate!
Join me with all the chaos. It will be a fun ride!
Blue Chip Championships 2024
This winter's goal was to qualify Bug for Blue Chip which we managed to do in 2 classes. The aim was to go and enjoy ourselves.
Off we went yesterday to jump the Power and the Star (they have posher full names)
Bug was very very fresh for the first class and we both got quite stressed warming up. The atmosphere in the ring was the most we had seen together and he never really settled and concentrated. I was really emotional when I came out. A mix of disappointment and feeling like I hadn't ridden very well. Taking the long way back to the stable helped a bit and watching the video I knew I needed to ride more forward next time.
It was interesting to talk through what I thought enjoying the show meant. Obviously I wanted to do well but most of all I wanted to ride well. I hadn't thought hard enough about the little things I wanted to do well and put too much emphasis on the big things. NB.....practice what you preach....
Thank @nblivery_and_training for reminding me why we came. Enjoy and get a good photo! 😂 lovely to see some old friends too!
A change of bit and a morning flatwork session today seemed to make all the difference. Video of second class which seemed to be very technical. Maybe just more than the eventing courses we have been jumping recently....🙈 Although we still had a couple of poles, he felt much better and I was able to focus on a couple of things I wanted to improve.
Loads still to work on but what a love this horse is to go from jumping 100 BE tracks one week to jumping Championship courses the next. Lots learnt about stay away shows. Mother bear did turn a funny colour when I mentioned jumping some 1.20s....stick to eventing for now....
Coaching day today. I LOVE MY JOB ❤️
Everyone doing a fantastic job. Hopefully learning and feeling confident....5* review please 😂
Thank you girls for letting me steal your videos! #proudcoach
This time last week....😍
@tweseldownht BE 100
4th place (in case I hadn't said) 😉😂
@equireel.comm
January 2024.
Busy month getting my head down and working horses, surviving the winter and getting out my new hobby.
Had a great weekend with Bug out to Tweseldown with a double clear in the eventers challenge, zena coming 7th in the petplan Festival at Parwood with no prep. Jockey costing 6th place by going wrong....not enough visualisation...🤦♀️Finished it off with my longest bike ride averaging my highest speed (not that I'm competitive or anything 😂)
Looking forward to the year, its going to be a busy one. Lots of exciting things coming up. Watch this space.
Right, hopefully this is all the jumps. Phone very slow today so will sort out the other video later!
Eeyore at Moreton Morrell Novice
Such a legend taking me round my first Novice since 2015!!
Discovery second rounds at Hartpury.
So much fun to go back to Hartpury, I only feel a little bit old! 😂
Bug excelled himself in my eyes, we jumped clear in the warm up class, finished 3rd and attended our first mounted prize giving. #goals
My aim was to jump triple clear but as we know anything can happen. We nearly made it. 2 rails in the second jump off left us in 18th place but out of 50 starters, wasn't bad!!
I am so grateful to be jumping this height again and for him to make it look so easy is quite exciting.
Thank you to @bs_coach_zanasparrow and @beckydaniel_ for your support and help through the day! ❤️
Just because I can....
Sorry chaps but more Bug spam!
Full video of his round from Tweseldown. This may not look very exciting but for us at this moment it is a big achievement. We have been plugging away through the winter building confidence and staying straight and I really wasn't sure if we were ready or not. I had done as much homework as I could but sometimes you never can tell.
To come out and stay straight to all the fences is a massive achievement and to keep him travelling all the way is also progress. Starting off captain slow helped him stay balanced and focused and I tried to keep his legs active on the approach to stop him from getting behind me. Trying not to over analyse it too much for all the bits that could be better.
I'm trying really hard to stay in my own bubble of small building blocks but it is really hard when you see other people's successes....I actually get as much enjoyment out of watching other people do well and I reckon that's because I know how hard it is! 🙈
Progress isn't linear and we all have ups and downs. Keep plugging away, it will be worth it!
Miserable day today....come on spring you are there somewhere....🤞
Throwback to sunnier days with Bug making those distances far too easily...
Always worth a try with the voice aid when you are coming in hot... 🔥 😂
Coaching slots available at Tweseldown this Saturday (11th). Message me to book on!
Sunday Funday
Busy week has left my updates a bit short but today was fun.
BD combined training at Parwood with 🐛.
Practicing a new technique to keep him more connected and less spooky seemed to work. 😁
2 fairly good tests and 1 pole over the 2 rounds....obviously my fault....🙈
Next week, next comp....Wellington for more combined training.
📸 @lrg_photography
Busy weekend ahead.
Lots of cleaning and polishing to be done now....

Monday Motivation
I can not wait to be back in the sun jumping again.
It's hard to enjoy the day to day at the moment but keep looking for the little wins! And always keep in mind your 'why' and the big goals if you are struggling.
What's keeping you going through all this winter weather?
@britshowjumping at @parwoodequestrian tomorrow!
Looking forward to getting Bug out jumping again!
🤞🤞
Bug at it again....🥈
@bs_coach_zanasparrow and I love our Tuesday trips to @parwoodequestrian for @britshowjumping.
Someone was rather cheeky in the disco 😈 so I didn't quite ride as forward as I should and had one down.
I set about the newcomers with @sharonapril_farm_official ringing in my ears and a bit more oomph and we jumped a good DC and finished 2nd!
Absolute love my @samshieldofficial show gear from @mikadoequine. Looks so smart and I was actually looking forward to putting it on....sad I know!! 😆
