To finish ID week we are going to highlight the importance of microchipping.

A microchip is a tiny implant that is inserted under your pet's skin. It contains a unique ID number that can be scanned by a vet or animal rescue.
This means they can identify your pet if they are found missing or injured and contact you.

It is important to make sure that your pets microchip is registered to the national database and that the pets owner details are kept up to date. This is especially important when buying a new puppy/ kitten as the microchip may be registered to the breeder so the details will need to be changed to the new owner to make sure the pet can be reunited with the right owner.

It is a legal requirement for all dogs to be microchipped and from the 10th of june 2024 all cats over the age of 20 weeks will need to be microchipped too 🐾 🐈🐶

April 22nd is Earth Day. This day celebrates our earth and promotes efforts aimed at protecting the environment 🌱🌍🐾

So today we thought we’d highlight some of the things we do here at Grovely pets to help the Earth.

🐾 We stock Adios who make compostable poo bags that are plastic free and made from Cornstarch so can break down in just 3-6 months. They even donate 1% of their profits to saving marine life and ocean clean up! 💩

🐾 We also have Beco poo bags that are made from recycled paper packaging including the cores of each roll. 💩

🐾 Less than a month to go… 🐾
Our Alton store’s much loved shop dog Bentley and his owner Lisa are taking on the muddy dog challenge on the 18th of may.
The muddy dog challenge is a 5k race with obstacles to jump over, go under and crawl through along the way.
By doing this we are also raising money for the Battersea dogs and cats home.
our aim is to raise £200 so we would appreciate anthing you can give.
Battersea dogs and cats home rescue and rehabilitate cats and dogs who have been abandoned or whos owners can no longer care for them. With the hope to find them all new homes.
The rescue is completely reliant on donations and fundraising like this.
Your money will go straight to paying for the care of the animals in their centres waiting to find their furever homes.

It is pet ID week this week 🐈 🐶
so we want to take the opportunity to show you a few ways in which your pets ID can be found.
It is important that pets have ID to make sure that if they ever get lost they can be traced to find their owners.

One way in which this can be done for both cats and dogs is an ID tag attached to their collars. This is a visual tag that has the owners details on so if the animal is found lost or hurt they can be contacted and reunited.

This tag should have the following details on:
Owners last name
Contact number
Postcode and house name/ number so if the animal is found it can be taken to the address given or to the nearest vets or dog warden.

There are many different types of tags and here at grovely pets we have a wide range to choose from.

Its not just dogs that we stock raw for we also cater for cats.. 🐱
One of our most popular raw cat food is Purrform.
Purrform is made from 100% human grade meat, bone, offal and natural ingredients to create a balanced diet that cats need.

They are available in pouches and tubs.

Pouches are 70g and are handy if you only have 1 cat as you can defrost one pouch at a time making it more convenient to store and no wastage. The meat, bone and offal are ground, blast-frozen and vac-packed to ensure the freshest quality.
They come in a range of flavours including chicken, ground bone and liver, rabbit and ground bone and venison, rabbit and ground bone with liver.
They are also available in mixed boxes to provide variety.

Tubs are 450g and are handy if you have more than one cat. They are available for both kitten and adults. The adult version is a slightly coarser mince and bone texture where as the kitten food has a smoother finer texture with smaller bone pieces.
The added bone is needed for added calcium.

😻 RAW CAT FOOD 😻

Feeding raw provides your cat with a high protein

Benyfit Natural Raw Pet Food.
Benyfit natural is what is known as an 80:10:10. Which means its consists of 80% meat, 10% bone and 10% kidney and liver.
This does mean it is not a “complete” food and needs to have vegetables and herbs added to make it complete and balanced.
This can easily be done at home by adding fruit and vegetables such as blueberries, carrots, and broccoli and a herbal blend.

The Dr clauders Krautergarten is a particularly good addition to making this a complete meal as it is packed full of useful herbs such as yarrow and nettle and is a powder that can be sprinkled onto the food to make it quick and easy to add in. 🌿

Let's talk noses!

Dog noses posses up to 300 million receptors compared to around 6 million in ours and their brain analyses and processes scents 40 times greater than ours! To put this into a visual perspective, something that we can see a third of a mile away, a dog can see more than 3,000 miles away!🤯

Allowing your dog to sniff works, not only their nose, but their brain too! It's a great way of tiring your dog out as 10minutes sniffing is the equivalent of an hour of exercise. Playing scent games are also a great way of bonding too!
