Did you know that a recent study has shown older dogs are more at risk of heatstroke? Even just sitting outside on a hot day can put them at risk. Follow our top tips for keeping your pooch safe:

❄ Make sure they have somewhere cool to rest which is easily accessible.

🚶‍♀️ Skip the walk if it’s too hot, there are plenty of other ways to keep them entertained!

💧 Ensure they have plenty of clean, fresh water available at all times.

🥵 Remember that days that don’t seem hot to us can be too hot for our pets so always be cautious!

Could all dog owners please make sure their dogs are kept safe and secure in their homes especially during this hot weather . Ive had to rescue another anxious dog running loose on the streets in this heat which has not had a tag on his collar while I try to locate his owner . Please be responsible for your Dogs safety

Pesticides are chemicals designed to kill living things ❌🐝🐦

Yet, every year more than 150 different pesticides are used across the UK’s countryside and farmland.

This week the RSPB has published a comprehensive review of studies looking at the harmful effect of pesticides on wildlife.

The review makes very clear that pesticides have a negative impact on wildlife beyond the pest species they are targeting. It also found that the negative impacts of only a few specific pesticides were well understood.

The RSPB is making five recommendations to the governments of the UK:

1) Government should commit to pesticide reduction targets.
2) Farmers need government financial support, training and advice.
3) We need investment in research and development of alternatives.
4) Ensure that the post-Brexit pesticide approvals process is strengthened.
5) Garden organically and asking local councils to go pesticide free.

The Government should hold a review into the numbers of animals euthanised in the UK, and the reasons why, and identify a solution to protect animals from being unnecessarily euthanised.
