This is Georgie, a golden cocker spaniel. Through no fault of his own (one of the young members of his family has become allergic to him) he's looking for a new home.
He's 10 months old, chipped, vaxed, wormed etc. Not castrated.
I've done a couple of lessons with Georgie. He's a lovely dog, very friendly. Full of life, would suit an active household, he needs plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. He's house trained, and good with kids. His training is coming along, but there is still work to be done. He is in his adolescent stage. He's an only dog at the moment, but there's no reason to think he wouldn't fit well with other dogs. He has not been tested around cats.

A short clip from a recent one to one. This beautiful lab was impossible to handle on a lead. Obsessed with smelling everything, obsessed with any people, cars, dogs etc. Getting into his training plan now, and he's looking beautiful. The mix of suprise and happiness when my clients see what their dogs are capable of with the right guidance makes it all worth while for me. 🙂🙃🙂

Competitive Obedience and Agility classes now available to book. Dog sports are a fantastic way to boost your dog's enjoyment of life, and to provide fun enrichment. Your bond with your dog will improve, as will your dog's general obedience.

My classes are small and personal, with plenty of time to dedicate to each dog. While these sports are competitive in nature, there's no competitive element to the classes. You do not need to compete to enjoy learning new skills and having a great time with your dog.

This is Chubb. He's on his third home. He previously struggled massively around livestock. He would obsessively hunt for ways through fences to get to sheep, and if he got through, there was no stopping the chase. He was successful more than once in his sheep chasing, with dire consequences for the sheep. Frankly he was lucky he wasn't shot. After a package of training, here he is, fully off lead, with a calm demeanour and a waggy tail surrounded by sheep. Even when they run he happily sticks with me. His owner prefers to use a longline for confidence at this stage, video in the comments, but I knew he was ready so we went for it. Could not be more proud of this boy and his committed owner. He now has a bright future ahead living in the Kildare countryside and enjoying every day. This is why I love my job!

2 videos taken 15 mins apart. This little girl was a stray, who I've taken for a short session to see how she gets on with life before she goes to her new home. Initially very chaotic, having never had a days training in her life. Such a smart girl though. Very quickly learning manners on lead. She'll do very well in her new home I'm sure.

Keep your dogs safe in the heat. 22c or close with strong sunshine can be dangerous for dogs to be exposed to.
As well as bracicyphalic and black dogs, also take extra care with very young or old dogs, over weight dogs, and dogs with other health conditions. Remember to never soak your dog's coat with water!

This is a 6 week course of 1 hour group lessons, with an additional 2 hour "out and about" class included.

From 6 months of age, with no upper age limit, this course is perfect for all dogs looking to brush up their skills and learn some new stuff.

This is lovely. A version of the reactivity method that I favour. A dog naturally wants to take in and assess their surroundings, and to restrict their ability to do this by distraction or punishment causes frustration and often a worsening of the problem behaviour. Teaching a reactive dog to observe, process, refer to their handler, and above all to feel at ease in the situation, is without a doubt the best and most long lasting way.

As part of the Kildare Derby Festival this year, June 29th will see this year's Pooch Parade taking place in the square in Kildare Town. I'm privileged to be part of the organising committee for this event, and would love to see loads of you there!

Running a business is really hard.
What they don’t tell you is that it can cause severe stress and anxiety, and drains you mentally.
You have to worry about if you forget to email/message someone back, are they going to think it was on purpose? Did you disappoint them? Will they hold that against you? When in reality you just can’t get to everyone’s messages and emails.
Starting up and running a successful business puts incredible strain on personal lives and relationships, many of which fail because there is just no work-life balance.
You need to be the director, the worker, the admin, the counsellor, the marketing team, the accountant, the cleaner..... All whilst being a parent, a husband or a wife, family support, friend...
There’s a reason you don’t see many people succeed in small businesses after 5-10 years.
If they are successful they are overwhelmed.
It takes a toll. It’s freaking exhausting. Especially the past couple of years when so much has been out of our control.
Here’s a small reminder that we are just normal people with really hectic lives.
Be kind, be patient, support small businesses…….and hopefully more of us will stick around!

What a transformation! The smaller of the gorgeous little dogs in this video, Winnie, was very nervous of the presence of a stranger in her house. No treats could tempt her! Here in just her second lesson she's running over, ears flapping, and eagerly taking a treat.

We've identified a medical issue that wasn't helping which she's now getting treatment for, and put in place some methods for keeping her calm when people come to the house.

The difference is amazing. This is what it's all about for me. She's like a different dog already, and clearly so much happier! 😊🐶
