We’re very proud to be the only vets in Ireland offering CO2 laser surgery. 16-year-old Murphy visited us recently for CO2 laser ablation of the warts of his face, which kept catching on things and causing him significant discomfort. The procedure can be performed using local anaesthetic only, with a small amount of sedative for anxious pets. Look at his handsome face now! He will be fully healed in another week

Seamus had CO2 laser surgery at Skinvet Ireland last week. Like many other French Bulldogs, he suffers from painful interdigital cysts. This is a complicated condition with multiple causes. The cysts, scar tissue and false pad formation can be removed via CO2 laser, after which we put a management plan in place to minimise the risk of recurrence

Missy visited us today to investigate a skin condition on her nose. Dermatologist Kathryn and nurse Chloe performed a delicate set of skin biopsies so we can get a definitive diagnosis for her. Our skin biopsies are always sent to a specialist dermatohistopathologist so we can achieve the best possible outcomes for our patients

Little Lucy visited us for her 4-week recheck today. 4 weeks ago, she was itchy, smelly and very uncomfortable. We’re glad to report that she had a very comfortable Christmas! Her skin condition is almost under control, and today we worked on her prevention plan

Here is Daisy Bee modelling our canine CO2 laser safety goggles! We performed CO2 laser ablation of a sebaceous adenoma on her head. The area was numbed with local anaesthesia & she also received a very light sedation to minimise anxiety for her. A minimally invasive alternative to surgical removal!

Does your pet suffer from sebaceous gland hyperplasia? We commonly see these little skin growths in Bichons & their crosses. They can be very irritating for the dog, tend to get caught in things (particularly if located on the head or along the back), & make grooming difficult. We can remove them in less than 1 minute per growth with our VetScalpel CO2 laser. We have done up to 150 in a single session! Small numbers can be done with local anaesthesia, sparing pets unnecessary anaesthesia & sedations.

Léasar - Laser. Jameson was under the laser today at the wonderful Skinvet Ireland for treatment of a dark mark on his underside (probably nothing, just being careful) Connell had a similar procedure too for a bothersome skintag under his "arm".

As always, everyone there was SO lovely and considerate of the different needs of the boys - including letting me hold Jameson for his procedure (with his funky laser protection glasses 😎) so that he wouldn't be so scared. No sedation needed due to their great care 👌

The procedures didn't even slow the boys and they are already healing well (and cuddled on my lap as I type). Thank you Skinvet team 💗

Coco the pug recently became the first dog in Ireland to have CO2 laser podoplasty surgery! She came back today for her 8-week recheck, and she is flying it. Swipe for her before & after photos! Coco required full-time medication to manage her pododermatitis & interdigital furuncules (often called interdigital cysts), and she used to pace regularly due to pain. She is now pain-free and medication-free! We are thrilled to be able to offer CO2 laser surgery at Skinvet Ireland. Thank you to Coco’s amazing owner Linda and Briarhill Veterinary Clinic for all the bandage changes! VetScalpel

Many pets with chronic ear infections develop cerumenoliths - solid impactions deep within the ear canal. Removal of these can be difficult but our Storz video-otoscope makes the process much easier. Here’s one we did today!

This summer, our dermatologist Fiona is taking on her biggest swimming challenge to date! “After previously sailing around Galley Head at a glacial pace, I am now going to see if I can swim around it any faster! This 10-12km swim, or marathon swim, will hopefully be my longest swim distance to date. I shall be taking on this challenge in memory of a very special boy, Hughie Stapleton. In his short life, he brought massive joy and love. Féileacáin helped his incredible parents through a challenging time and I would like to raise funds to support them in continuing to provide support to families affected by the death of a baby during or after pregnancy.
