🐾 Preparing Your Pet for Kennels 🐾

🐶🐱 We know how much you love your furry friends and want the best for them, even when they need to stay at a kennel. Here are a some things to remember to ensure a smooth and stress-free experience for both you and your pet 💚

Vaccinations: Ensure your pet’s vaccinations are up to date. Most kennels require proof of vaccinations, including Canine (kennel) Cough. Many kennels prefer that the vaccination is given at least 14 days before the animal is admitted to kennels so make sure you arrange this in plenty of time.
Medications: If your pet is on any medication, make sure you have enough supply and clear instructions for the kennel staff.
Food: Bring enough of your pet’s regular food to last their stay, along with feeding instructions.

🐾✈️ How to Get an Pet Passport for Your Furry Friend! 🐶🐱

Getting a pet passport is a crucial step if you plan to travel abroad with your furry friend. Here are the simple steps to ensure your furry companion is ready for international travel:

🟢Visit Your Vet for the Pet Passport: Visit us well in advance of your trip.

🟢Microchipping: Your pet must be microchipped and registered on an Irish microchip database. This is a requirement for identification purposes. The microchip must be implanted before the rabies vaccine can be administered.

🟢Your Vet will issue your Pet’s Passport: Your vet will fill out the necessary details, including the microchip number, vaccination dates, and other essential health information.

🟢Rabies Vaccination: This vaccination must be done at least 30 days before travel. If your pet has had a rabies vaccination before, ensure it is still valid and that the booster shots are up-to-date.

Little Stan came in for his second vaccine, and he was such a brave puppy! 🌟🐶 It's so important to keep up with vaccinations to ensure our furry friends stay healthy and protected. With a passion for animal care and a thirst for knowledge, she further pursued a Level 8 degree in Applied Bioscience. Since 2021, Aoife has been a full-time veterinary nurse, demonstrating unwavering commitment and expertise in her role.🥰

Aoife's favourite aspects of nursing are anaesthesia and inpatient care. She finds great satisfaction in ensuring the comfort and well-being of her patients during surgical procedures and throughout their recovery.🐈 Her meticulous approach and compassionate nature make her a cherished member of the Highfield team. Introducing Saoirse Oliver, Our dedicated floating nurse at Highfield Veterinary. Saoirse's journey in veterinary nursing began at ATU Letterkenny, where she graduated in 2021 as a veterinary nurse. Her passion for learning and animal care led her to pursue further education, and she successfully completed an Honours Bachelor Degree of Science in Veterinary Nursing in 2022 🎓

Saoirse has been actively involved in the veterinary field since 2019, starting her career as a student nurse and later becoming a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN). She has gained valuable experience working in both Mayo and Kildare before joining the Highfield team in September 2023 as a rotating veterinary nurse. Her role at Highfield allows her to bring her expertise and enthusiasm to various Highfield practices 🥰

One of Saoirse's favourite aspects of veterinary nursing is inpatient care, where she finds great satisfaction in providing the necessary treatment and comfort to animals in need. She also enjoys conducting nursing consultations and working with imaging technology 🩻

Outside of her professional life, Saoirse leads a fulfilling rural lifestyle. She loves farming and spends her free time with her diverse array of animals, including sheep, cows, horses, dogs, cats, and even a goat 🐐🐄🐎

Kristin Goldstone, a dedicated and passionate veterinary nurse, graduated from TUS in 2022. Her career began in Highfield, where she served as a student at the Naas branch. In April 2022, she transitioned to the Maynooth branch, stepping into her role as a Registered Veterinary Nurse. Recently, in September 2023, Kristin took on a new challenge and moved to Kilcock, where she now proudly holds the position of Head Nurse 🥰

Kristin's professional interests lie heavily in feline nursing. She is not only committed to providing the best care for her feline patients 😺but also strives to make veterinary practices more feline-friendly. Her dedication to cats is evident as she is currently exploring the possibility of starting a certification in feline nursing, which will further enhance her expertise in this specialized area.

Outside of her professional life, Kristin is a devoted cat mom to two adorable felines. Sally, her 18-year-old, fully ginger female cat, and Frankie, a little munchkin she adopted at just 10 weeks old from the Naas branch last year. Frankie accompanied Kristin to work every day for six months, quickly becoming a beloved member of the team. When she is not at work, Kristin enjoys spending her time painting🎨 and, of course, doting on her two kitties. Her love for cats and her dedication to her profession make her an invaluable asset to the veterinary community 💚

In the bustling corridors of Highfield Blessington, there's a figure whose dedication and compassion shine brightly every day—Keelin Murray, our esteemed Head Nurse 🥰

Keelin qualified as a veterinary nurse from St. John's college in Cork in 2018. She worked in Kildare as a small animal veterinary nurse for 5 years where she completed her certificate in emergency and critical care ❤️‍🩹

She joined the Highfield Naas team in October 22 before moving to the Blessington branch in August 23. She particularly enjoys the anaesthesia and surgical aspects of nursing. Sally the pomeranian is her favourite Blessington patient as she is her in dog form! She is super friendly but has a spicy side too!! 😹

Outside of work Keelin loves the gym, running and long walks with her dog Esko 🐶❤️
