Dear Friends,
I would like to bring to your kind notice some facts about the canine breeding in India.
The dog breeding in India is very much a legal activity and millions of people are dependent on this sector for earning their livelihoods, but as a matter of fact it is highly unorganized.
There is an urgent need to turn around this sector and make it organized, is what me and my friend Alok Nanda felt and we took an initiative.
The changes that we felt are necessary to be brought about will help millions of people who are associated with this sector and many more who have a vision to persue this dream as a career.
Our Hon'ble Prime Minister has launched the scheme of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (Prime Minister Skill Development Scheme) to take up more and more vocations under this scheme.
Keeping the above scenario in mind, we felt an urgent need to do something positive, tangible and profitable for all involved, so we approached the Nation Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) set up by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship lead by Hon'ble Minister Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey.
Having done our primary due diligence we found that primarily there is a need to get three category of people to get benifited by this project :
1)Canine breeders.
2)Dog trainers and handlers.
3)Companion animal groomers.
We prepared the QUALIFICATION PACKS. These we very well drafted by us and they needed to be approved as, NATIONAL OCCUPATIONAL STANDARDS. Once they get approved, the Government of India will start training on basis of these standards.
The vision and determination to do only the best for millions of fellow breeders, handlers and groomers, we left no stone unturned and got this herculean task DONE!
THE CANINE SECTOR JOB ROLES OF ALL THE THREE CATEGORIES i.e BREEDER, TRAINER AND GROOMER HAVE BEEN APPROVED!
Going way forward, I would like to inform that NSDC will work as a catalyst by providing funding to established kennels pan India, who would opt to get engaged in specialized training programs to promote skill among it's students and youth, with emphasis on the improvement of the employment opportunities. It will also develop appropriate models to support and enhance private sector initiatives.
After the training programme a STAR certificate (Standard Training Assessment and Reward) will be given by NSDC which is valid all over India to augment employment.
I would like to invite all the earnest people involved in this hobby and/or profession to believe in this and be guided by this.
Your support and cooperation to make this a roaring success is a must and I appeal that we join hands and make it a reality.
The Next Step is to get the restrictions on the import of dogs imposed by the Government of India lifted, so that there is a complete new ECO SYSTEM in place like a well oiled machinery and all involved can have peace, prosperity and happiness!
Thank You
Jai Hind!
