Living spaces have a big impact on our mental, emotional, and physical health. A comfortable home isn’t just about decor or being proud of your space—making your home feel warm and cozy is pretty important. Your home is where you spend most of your time, whether you’re working, resting, playing, or entertaining. This holds equal importance for pets as well. As, improper housing can introduce multiple helath challenges for them. We got to witness this in a recent visit of pet red tailed boa constrictor. This poor baby was lethargic, dehydrated and off feed from days, as a result had lost quite about of weight. Upon further diagnosis we found that this poor baby had contracted respiratory tract infection and lung congestion, which was caused as a result of improper housing. Fortunately, a lot of the causes of RTIs in snakes can be avoided by getting your reptile husbandry correct from the beginning. Like most animals, if they are not kept in the right environment, it can cause stress which is practically guaranteed to lower your snake's immune system, making them dangerously susceptible to bacterial and fungal infections that would otherwise be fought off with ease!
As a primary treatment plan we prescribed antibiotics. We also provided education to parents regarding the habitat requirements for the pet. We wish this cutie a speedy recovery and lots of health and love.💚

It is said, "Better Teeth Better Health".
This quote applies to human as well as pet health. A healthy set of teeth helps dictates healthy and happy life of pets. Some animals have a similar teeth growth cycle as humans, whereas for some like rabbits, rats etc it's different. As rabbit teeth grow throughout their lives, making sure their dental health is looked after is a key part of keeping any rabbit healthy and happy.
We had a visit from a pet rabbit, who had overgrown Incisors. Overgrown Incisors were rendering him not being able to open his mouth and as a result not being able to eat. This also caused significant weight loss. After understanding the history of this cutie, we understood that the overgrowth is due to improper diet, not causing the normal wear of teeth. As this cutie wasn't able to eat anything to start the teeth wearing, we manually burred the incisors for quick treatment. Also, we helped parents to pick the right diet rich in roughage or fiber which promotes normal wear.
With this, we bid adieu to this cutie and wish all the luck and happiness on munching away at this life.❤️💚🐇

Today's fast paced life has rendered lesser time for oneself to take a stock of time, surrounding and most importantly themself. This has caused the lives which have forgotten to live and as result are going through mental health challenges increasingly. This fast placed life of ours also causes challenges for our dependents, such as our furry friends.

We got to see one such example today. We had a visit from an African grey parrot suffering from . Pterotillomania is a maladaptive, behavioural disorder, commonly seen in captive birds that chew, bite or pluck their own feathers with their beak, resulting in damage to the feathers and occassionally the skin. That's what we observed, our patient had completely chewed through their tail and started on the wings also. Although generally this is a multifactorial disorder, three main aspects of bird keeping can be related to the problem:
1. A small cage size restricting birds movement. 2. Cage design and barrenness of the environment not providing enough behavioral opportunities to meet the bird's sensitivity, intelligence and behavioral needs. 3. Solitary housing or isolation, which fails to meet the high social needs of the bird.
We had a deep discussion with parents to understand the environment of the bird and based on that we provided education to make behavioral and environmental change to combat this disorder.
We hope that this case brings forward the awareness and discussion about the mental health challenges, and the need to work on mental health. 💚🐦🏡

Adoption alert!!!

We have received a request for adoption of a lion headed male rabbit. This cutie pies name is Kuki. Kuki has to be put up for adoption because of parents getting relocated and not being able to locate him with them. He is a well trained and well mannered pet and is going to hop into your hearts and home with joy and happiness.
Please open your hearts and help this cutie get adopted. If you are not able to adopt him, please help us spread the word. We would appreciate it 🙏💚🐇

1. : We had received a visit from concerned parents of an umbrella Cockatoo. Some breeder had diagnosed this cutie pie with PBFD(Psittacine beak and feather disease) and recommended treatment. FYI, Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease or PBFD is caused by a circovirus which infects and kills the cells of the feather and beak. The virus also impairs the immune system. Consequently many diseased birds succumb to bacterial and other infections as it's incurable. It is also named as 'Bird AIDS' due to similarity between it and human AIDS. Hence, concern of parents was reasonable. We looked at the physical signs of the disease and found it not to be there. For confirmation we ran blood test(PCR). The test results came out as negative and hence ruled out the disease.
This case highlighted the need to approach a doctor with proper expertise and diagnostic tools. Otherwise, one wrong step can do more damage than fix. As it is said, "The presence of the doctor is beginning of the cure.", please consult doctors before making any medical decisions.

2. : We had a visit from parents of a budgie bird which was attacked by a rodent. Rodent had eaten one side leg completely and half a wing. As rodents carry many viral diseases, there was a possibility of septic infection and life threat. We had to act quickly and operate on the bird. To save the life of this cutie pie, we had to amputate it's leg and wing. This would refrain her from enjoying life with all limbs, but will not stop her to enjoy with full capacity.
This case highlighted the need of proper safety, security and hygiene required for healthy life of a pet.

We hope these two cases help spread more awareness. We wish health and happiness for all the pets and parents.💚
