Yesterday was a Great day!
We thank everyone who visited and helped us make this camp a success.
Special thanks to for the venue and support, the volunteers of .goa, .annalise for her medical expertise, Bena for the tables and chairs, Rotary club of Margao for the tents, for handing over yummy treats to all the fur babies. And most of all to the citizens of margao who really pulled through for some of our rescued animals who now have forever homes ❤️

A Reminder to Please Drive Safely.🐾
Please don't take animal lives for granted. They feel pain and fear too. This old boy got hit by a speeding motorcycle and got away alive with a broken leg. He will receive treatment because some kind humans reported him. It's a long road towards recovery for him.

A few weeks ago Nivida saw our post on a group and got in touch to donate some things to our shelter. A lil chat with another volunteer and Nivida decided to visit our shelter and join the team of volunteers too.

This young student was pretty much a call away whenever we needed a helping hand. Right from catching and transporting strays to bathing and medicating the the dogs at the shelter. She's been a star.

Nivida has now left Goa to resume college. We're glad that she decided to volunteer with us till her last day in Goa.
We wish Nivida a bright future ahead and look forward to seeing her again.

There has been an outbreak of Mange at the shelter and its spreading fast. It is disheartening to see the dogs in such discomfort.😔
We need your help to buy the proper medicines to get rid of the Mange so that the doggies can grow shiny new coats again!🤩

Update- The black pup got adopted. The other two are still available.

Huey, Dewey and Louie are three lil brothers ready for adoption. They are approximately 40 days old and have started to eat mashed solid food.

These three were abandoned when they couldn't even lap up anything by themselves. However, the lil fighters survived and are growing up to be quite affectionate.

Sterilisation will be taken care of by us when they cross 6 months of age. WhatsApp message on- 8975569889 of you wish to adopt these pups.

This is the story of Bana.
Bana is a building/society dog in Margao. She has had multiple litters in the past. Her recent litter of pups died and people who care for her saw her burying the pups herself. Bana was heavily lactating when she was brought to the shelter by one of the building residents, but wouldn't accept or allow any of the abandoned puppies to suckle. We want you to think about the psychological impact the death of her puppies had on Bana. Multiply this suffering a hundred fold when you see new born puppies and kittens abandoned in horrible places or when you allow puppies and kittens to be born in your home with no certainty that they will live a happy life. It is easy to give baby animals away to other people or abandon them thinking they'll make it on their own, but what guarantee do you have that they will live healthy lives? As long as your pet is able to breed, you are responsible for actively adding to the stray population in your locality. What you can do instead is get your pet neutered and get in touch with your local animal organization to get strays in your locality neutered.
If you live around Margao city and know of stray animals that need to be sterilised please call us and help us get them sterilised.
As for Bana, her building human comes to visit her often and she will be put back in her locality after being sterilised. 💙

We need newspapers and carton boxes to line our cages with. We are in constant need as whatever we use gets soiled every couple of hours. Yesterday we said a heartbreaking goodbye to Charlie, our courageous little puppy.

For those who donated towards Charlie's treatment and all his well wishers who have been following his story, Charlie was found during the cyclone, with multiple fractures and an infection in his paws. He was being treated by vets and was in a loving foster home. Because Charlie had an infected paw and not a very strong immune system, the vets rightly suggested that he be vaccinated once he has regained his strength. To our misfortune, during the course of his treatment, Charlie contracted Parvo-Virus and soon crossed the rainbow bridge.

Charlie was very loved by all who knew him. His doctors adored him for being a very cooperative patient. His legs were in a cast but he took every opportunity to gallop around with his best friend Jerry the cat and big doggo Tara. He was a happy puppy with broken limbs but the strongest spirit ever. Life threw the sourest lemons at Charlie and he always made the best lemonade!

A big thank you to all the vets who treated him Myron Da Costa, , Nadia dsouza, Bandhanpreet Kour , Dr. Aneesh Viegas, Dr. Nikhil, Dr. Anjali, Sandra Fernandes, Sagarika, Nyra and also to our volunteers who helped so much with Charlie's care. Savia, Avinash, Siddique, Rati, Josna and Chivonne.

Charlie, we will miss you everyday. We love you sooo much. Run free boy, see you on the other side.

*FOSTERS NEEDED*

Yesterday, 4 Female puppies, barely a month old were stuffed into a carton box and dumped outside the shelter either early in the morning or late night. When we found them, they were cold, wet, scared, hungry and yelping out for their mother.
One puppy was probably hit or injured by a vehicle and has a neurological problem with her eye. The four of them are constantly crying out for their mother and seeking warmth and comfort in the older shelter dogs.
WHO IS TO BE BLAMED HERE?
Humans who don't sterilise their pets? Strays for existing? Or these poor puppies for being born female?
We are looking for fosters for these puppies. Someone who can give them the warmth and love they require. We understand that looking after 4 pups can be a handful, so if someone is willing to even take two pups each, it would be very helpful. Fostering them would give them a new chance at life. The shelter is no place for such tiny puppies. We are afraid they may not make it here either due to the cold monsoon or some infection. Please DM us if you can foster.

Hi! I'm Sam! This is my story...

If you're from Margao you may have seen me around Chowgule College and Mascot Pet Shop.
Some kind humans wanted to get me adopted but I'm a free spirited Doggo! I love exploring and taking long walks, nevertheless, I always come back to the shelter, it's my home🏘️
I get pettings and scratches from visiters at the shelter. Sometimes when I'm out roaming on the streets, my puppy dog eyes can get me loads of treats! I'm quite the charming one you see! ✨
I am content with this life.
I am comfortable at the shelter where I can come and go as I please, sleep whenever and wherever I desire (aka table tops, cage tops) I can even roll around in muck without being scolded for messing up the floors.
HECK! I LOVE MY LIFE! ❤️
When we see older dogs living their life to the fullest on the streets, especially mixed breed dogs like Sam, it is right to be concerned for their well being and ask around. Some of you may not agree to this thought, but Many dogs like Sam are free souls who live to explore their surroundings and sometimes we've got to respect each dogs way of living instead of restricting them around our four walls. 🐶❤️

Charlie the courageous dog 🐶

When the Cyclone hit Goa, Charlie was found under a truck in the Margao wholesale fish market, exhausted and with badly injured front limbs.Charlie is being treated for multiple fractures and infection on his front limbs, which require his bandages to be changed every alternate day. In the coming weeks he will require surgery as well.
