Some of the things we have been doing during the covid crisis. Doing a complete health check on a crocodile before release which includes x rays, blood work, cytologies and measurements.
Blood test prove vital in knowing your bunnies health status. The central ear artery and marginal ear vein are also readily accessible. Most rabbits seem to be more stressed by manual restraint therefore the ear can be a good choice for a high-strung, nervous individual.however proper restraining is important while drawing blood or else blood withdrawal under sedation is adviced.
Regular health checks form an integral part of any aviary set up specially when you have birds in large numbers. The idea is to prevent diseases rather than spending time and resources on treating them. If you do wish to consult us on aviary health management and creating a disease free environment do send us your details on [email protected] or call us to book a visit on 9967772829
Patient cuteness overloaded#fun at work# goat grooming# every day full of surprises at the clinic# i love my job
Been a regular morning for all of us but not for this lucky crow. A good Samaritan Sharad messaged me early morning and send me a video of a crow hanging in the skies, which was not the best thing to see first thing in the morning! I forwarded him numbers of NGOs and of the fire brigade to which he was surprised that the fire brigade would respond to a crow in distress! Assured him it was all good and they were the only people who could reach such heights. A couple of hrs later to sharada amusement the fire brigade arrived and did go ahead with rescuing the crow :) was on my way to work and picked him on the way and have done his first aid. Have to admit he is a bit cuter then normal crows and will probably spend a couple of days in the clinic. He has a fractured wing and is shock. Kudos to sharad and our mumbai firebrigade for such a wonderful act and responding in the nick of time! Indeed it's been a crows day
Some rescues leave an imprint on you, more then imprinting the animal. Terribly broke all our hearts in the clinic. This female monkey was suffering from tetanus in a very advanced stage was rescued by RAWW along with her baby who dint leave her for a second. It was the toughest moment for us working with her to finally separate her baby from her dead body 4 days after she continued to fight to live. Replaced her body with a teddy bear but of course you know your mom's touch and feel. However we very able to rehabilitate this baby successful along with another orphan baby 6 months later, which is what his mom would have wished for to be back into the wild. Not all wildlife need permanent care, it's in best interest of the animal that we try to release them back into the wild and each rescue done should always be aimed at releasing them back into the wild and not having them confined in captivity
Visual examinations involve observing animals from a distance and up close. Not always will you have sufficient funds while working with wildlife as most NGOs struggle with resources and as a private practicioner offering probono service it's best to prioritise your test and accordingly treat#nationalbird#peacock#mumbai#urbanwildlife&you#wildlifevet
There are no shortcuts to hand raising baby birds and clearly using plastic tubes as advocated by alot of ppl is not the right thing to do. We had an emergency this morning when a baby connnure injested a 3 inch tube and was rushed to the clinic in the nick of time or else the tube would have propelled futher ahead. Luckily the tube was partially in the proventriculus and crop and was removed under sedation# avian emergency# avianvet
Co existing in the clinic unlike tom and Tweety! Co exisitance among animals and Co exisitence among co workers. Keeping out all the negative vibes. That's how we should exisit!
Progressing in a good way ! With diagnostics. Always scope for improvement and learning more
Our Brady is ready for the weekend...bring your pet in for a relaxing spa and conditioning wash
And that is indeed an avian vets life! Can't complain. Examination of birds in walk in aviaries. The birds have been trained to come on hand. This helps in a good visual check and able to observe them from close quarters without stressing them out.
One of the most trafficed species world wide sadly for their meat and scales, used in traditional Chinese medicine and other rituals. Have you ever wanted to know what a pangolin heart sounds like ! Had this beautiful creature come to us for a medical examination after. He was rescued from the wildlife trade. Extremely threatened endangered species on the IUCN list, these beautiful mammals and nocturnal in nature and shy slow moving animals.
