The 2nd Annual General Meeting of the Society of Companion Animal Practitioners of Sri Lanka (SCAPSL) took place on August 16th, 2024, at the Ramada Hotel in Colombo. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Hemali Kothalawala, the Director General of the Department of Animal Production and Health, who served as the chief guest. We had a historic first meeting with the Director General of the Department of Animal Production and Health Dr. Hemali Kothalawala alongside the SCAP at Department of Animal Production and Health (DAPH) on 2024.07.24. During the meeting, we discussed a variety of important topics, which will enhance and encourage quality small animal practice including small animal clinic and hospital categorization and registration procedures, standards, training of assistants etc.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Director General for providing the opportunity to hold this historic first meeting between SCAP and the Director General. We also express our gratitude to the Additional Director General Dr. Palika Fernando, Dr Vijitha Bandara, Dr. Rangani Munasinghe, Dr. G. G. I. A. Successfully held another thriving CPD workshop on “Bone Plating and Cruciate Ligament Rupture Surgery” with hands on experience at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, University of Peradeniya on 9th and 10th July 2024.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to Dr. Bhagya Don for his unwavering dedication and the invaluable time he spent to uplift the knowledge and skills of veterinarians. Your commitment to advancing veterinary science is truly inspiring, and we are incredibly grateful for your contribution.

**SCAPSL Workshop Announcement**

SCAPSL is pleased to announce a two-day workshop on orthopedics, featuring Dr. Bhagya Don as the resource person. The workshop will take place on the 9th and 10th of July, 2024, and will focus on "Hands-on Experience in Bone Plating and Cruciate Ligament Damage Surgery."

**Details:**
- **Dates**: 9th and 10th July 2024
- **Topic**: Hands-on Experience in Bone Plating and Cruciate Ligament Damage Surgery
- **Seats**: Limited to 25 participants
- ⁠Participants who wish to join the hands-on experience session must bring the orthopedic instruments kit recommended by the resource person ‼️

The latest version of our Global Vaccination Guidelines has now been published in our official scientific journal, the Journal of Small Animal Practice. These Global Guidelines set out the latest scientific thinking on the vaccination of dogs 🐶 and cats 🐱 globally and give practical advice to veterinarians on optimum vaccination practice.
