*Life as a pet sitter..*

Mutters of dissatisfaction are audible every nook and cranny. The general verdict is one of man's greatest compulsion - striking a balance between living and livelihood.

The race to climb the corporate ladder, making a name, the desire to be recognised, the freedom to spend and increasing one's purchasing power, elevating one's social and economic status. Man's extrinsic desires fulfilled but the soul remains bereft of fulfillment.

A widespread phenomenon with an elementary fix. When man's desires are dovetailed to divine consciousness, dissatisfactions transform into satisfaction.

Such gratification to unconditionally serve nature's beings of a different species. The common language spoken - love and compassion. Animals, inherent creatures of nature thrive on instincts. For man to comprehend, heavy reliance placed on intuition, gently guided by a higher power in full knowing that duties discharged, matters. Thus, yielding an overwhelming sense of satisfaction and fulfillment.

Aren't we a lucky lot, abundantly blessed ❤️

Some months ago, we had one cute lil grumpy client on board with us - Bonnie! ...haha..she's pretty much a loner and doesn't like anyone invading her space. She'll grrrr at any dog that passed by and sometimes charge at them. So, for her, we provided a barrier and she was happy. Took her a couple of days to explore our home. Of course, when the others was resting/sleeping, we'd encourage her to explore, but on her own terms. She'd run out to p*e/poo and straight back into her private den..quirky lil one this girl 😅

Dearest Yangae (doggie on wheelies), was curious about Bonnie but Bonnie didn't want to have anything to do with him as you can see..😄

p/s: Yangae crossed the rainbow bridge peacefully yesterday morning. He was slightly more than 18.5 years old ❤

When our dogs grow old, it's when they need us the most. Meet Yangae (an 18.5yo Shetland Sheepdog, a regular guest at D's Pet Cottage) & Soul, a 14yo Dalmatian who's a family member at D's Pet Cottage. Both have mobility issues and are on doggie wheelchair.

We're experienced with geriatric dog care, palliative care through years of caregiving for our own dogs. Caregiving for senior/sick dogs isn't that much different than caring for an elderly human. It is a very demanding and laborious job, but a highly rewarding one especially when you have the passion to perform these tasks with love. We love what we do :)

It gives me great pleasure caring for geriatric dogs. Recently this lil guy came over. His name...Pepsi and he's 16! Cute eh ;) Hats off to his owner for keeping him as comfortable as possible and making his golden years count for something meaningful. Pepsi wears diapers now and isn't steady when he walks. He tends to fall on his side and that's when he'll cry for help. We will go pick him up and place him on all fours again. He eats, poops, p*e all the same - these vital signs are crucial to know that he is doing okay despite some minor setbacks that accompanies old age. He's one happy camper at D's Pet Cottage! Check out his groovy hairdo...hahaha! He'll be back soon, very soon! ;)

3. Training and exercising us to be happy and disciplined.
4. Restricting us within housing compounds and be licensed and leashed when outside.

BoBoy is back at D's Pet Cottage! He's 15 and going strong! He's got really soft, fluffy coat and his family simply adores him to bits...lucky chap ain't he ;)

My oldest furball is 16! Many of you may know that we found her in a plastic bag as a very tiny pup back in 2002...horrible! We never intended to keep her as we already had 2-3 other dogs. Well, 16 years later she's still with us :D ...she's generally doing good apart from some difficulties in moving about with a recent bout of eye ulcer. All good now, she just got her annual shot.

Yes, the name Plastique kinda stuck with her. ..as some of you may know ;)
..and all she wanted to do is to scramble outta the vet!

Many folks disregard the sacred ritual of walking their dogs. Why? - Time consuming, too much hassle, dogs pull on leash, too many strays outside, afraid their dogs will pick up diseases/ parasites ...and the list of excuses goes on! Dogs in the wild walk, migrate to hunt for food. They move in a pack. Never underestimate the power of the pack, as there's where the bond between the animals are formed. Likewise, walking your dog(s) creates a very strong bond between you and your canine companion. They require a structured exercise such as walking to get them mentally stimulated and engaged. How many of you have heard "Oh, my dogs don't need to go for walks. They have a huge compound to run about"? Running about aimlessly vs a structured exercise - there's a world of difference you guys. So, go get yourself off that couch, put on your walking shoes and start bonding with your pooches! No time? Contact me! :D

D’s Pet Cottage...where happy “tails” are made!

Welcome to D's Pet Cottage..where happy "tails" are made! We are located in the heart of PJ. I have over 30 years of experience caring for multiple dogs at any one point of time. My family and I love all animals, especially dogs. I've even worked at vet hospitals in the past. So, your pet's health is my business when they come over for a stay. All pets MUST be vaccinated and preferably on a tick-prevention programme as I can never guarantee a tick-free environment due to our locality. Other than pet healthcare, I have also learnt a thing or two about dog behaviour and dog psychology through the years that I have worked with vets, volunteering with animal welfare NGOs, reading/ research and by having my own furkids.

I do this as a hobby as animals are my passion. It was also by accident that I started boarding other pets when a friend asked for my help to care for a stray mother dog & her 5 pups as I had the space to spare. All 5 pups & mother have been adopted since - a happy "tail" indeed!

At D's Pet Cottage, your precious furballs will experience being at home and away at the same time. They are cared for as one of our own - we love them, we play with them, we gently correct them when they misbehave (just like any doting parent would their child), we walk them, we clean them if they get dirty but most importantly, we let them be themselves - dogs! They get to socialise with other dogs here as dogs are naturally pack animals.
