Microsorum pteropus "Trident" is an uncommon Java fern form that probably comes from Sarawak (Borneo). Its leaves have 2 to 5 frontal lobes on each side. The middle and lateral lobes are very narrow, much like in the Java fern variety "Needle Leaf".

Anubias Coffeefolia is a beautiful variant of the common Anubias Barteri that can grow to about 12 inches tall. Like other Anubias it can thrive in both aquariums and terrariums either submerged or emersed. It has long stems like Anubias Barteri but the leaves have a ruffled texture. This plant is suitable as a midground and background as the leaves can grow up to 3” long.

Like other Anubias, this variant is a flowering plant that grows best when the rhizome is attached to a hard surface such as wood or stones. They have low to medium light requirements and can benefit from regular fertilization. CO2 is not necessary but can promote faster growth and more robust leaves. Since its a slow grower, the leaves are susceptible to algae growth if placed under high lighting.

Propagation is easy and straightforward; simply cut or pull apart rhizomes to be replanted. Make sure to keep the rhizomes above your substrate or the plant can begin to rot.

"Petite-Nana" is not very picky regarding light intensity and grows under very low light of 0.25 watts per litre or even below as well as under strong light of 1 watt per litre or over.It grows without the addition of CO2, however, carbon dioxide fertilisation is quite beneficial for its growth, as well as a substrate fertiliser or a substrate rich in nutrients, as is removing old leaves.In the aquarium, this variety never seems to flower, differently from the original A. barteri var. nana,

This plant is very suitable to accentuate the middleground of a nano or a small aquascape. Place further to the front in larger tanks. Like any other Anubias species it may be planted in the ground, however, make sure you do not cover the rhizome with substrate to prevent it from rot. "Petite-Nana" will attach its roots to rocks or driftwood to which it can be fastened with a nylon thread in the beginning, or it may simply be stuck between rocks.

Anubias nana originates from Cameroun, where it is found in shallow zones of forest rivers with a strong current. There is hardly any information about these locations, though. Tropica was the first to cultivate this dwarf variety in 1970 and brought it into the hobby. Anubias barteri var. nana is one of the most widely spread aquarium plants in Europe, Asia and the US.

This plant is almost indestructible in an aquarium, and is thus often called a "growing plastic plant".

The plant itself consists of a creeping rhizom from which leaves grow that may last several years. Anubias barteri var. nana is not finicky regarding light intensity and even grows under very low light (0.25 watt per litre and below) as well as under strong light (1 watt per litre and over).

Variegated Anubias Nana is a rare variant of Anubias barteri “Variegated Nana” that is highly desired in the aquarium hobby. It is very distinguishable by its variable white coloration which provides a striking contrasts with its dark green coloration. Like virtually all Anubias plants, it is extremely hardy, undemanding, and can thrive in a variety of water parameters.

Care for Variegated Anubias Nana is identical to other Anubias plants. It is best placed in the middle ground and will look its best under low to moderate lighting. Excessive lighting can result in unattractive and pesky algae growth on its leaves. However, this algae growth can easily be kept under control in an aquarium with a healthy population of shrimp (especially Amano shrimp), snails, and/or algae-eating fish that will constantly graze on the algae without harming the plant itself. Most herbivorous animals will not harm Variegated Anubias Nana whatsoever, although some bio-fim/”wood-eating” Panaque genus plecos may “chew” holes in its leaves. Like many Anubias species, this plant is slow and steady in growth and does not seem to respond significantly to CO2 supplementation. It thrives best when attached to driftwood or rockwork. It can be planted in the substrate but its rhizome (roots) must not be buried in the substrate or it will rot and recede. It can also be planted emersed in terrariums, paludariums, and viquariums.
